there are lots of good free online tutorials around. you aren't going to learn much in 4 hours

    • one example is youtube, tons of tutorials

    • That is true! Got a photography lesson as a birthday gift and didn't even learn that much. The teacher just explained the basics (f-stop, iso, shutter speed, etc) then gave us an hour to go out and take photos. Then he had a glance at them, said good job, keep practising and that was it.

On the website the price is usually $950, that's ridiculous for a 4 hour course on basic photography.
Even at $69 I'd rather spend the money on Karl Taylor video lessons that I'm most certain I'll learn more from.
"Photography MASTERCLASS", they don't even display the name of the teacher for us to have a look at their work, could be taught by any random..

  • the sad thing also is that for it to be called a "masterclass" when 3 of those 4 hours are going to be based on "not using green auto mode"

its like saying a driving masterclass is 3/4 based on "learning to drive manual"

or a cooking masterclass that is 3/4 "how to handle a knife and fry a steak"

  • Don't waste your money and time in this class.

I did it in 2011 and among 4 coupon photography classes that I have ever done, this is absolutely the worst.

All participants sat in a lecture hall at Bond Uni for 4 hours. The lecturer Anthony Cottrell seemed to be an experienced photographer but none of the participants had the chance to take ANY photo - he was explaining all the basic stuff without letting us to try it out. OK you can argue that he focused into portraits (which he demonstrated with his camera during the long lecture) but if I don't have the chance to practise, what's the point of me bringing all my camera gears? If it's just a lecture, I would just simply watch a video on youtube instead!

The ones that I would seriously recommend are:
    - Andrea Robinson (Gold Coast). Awesome if you like landscape photography as she actually takes you to different national parks in the GC area
    - Remember forever (Brisbane) - the instructors are experienced yet they know how to teach. Their class locations are convenient and you have plenty of opportunities to try it out (and they do give you feedback)

why to waste money on this? i wont waste my time even it is free. buy a book, u get all the fundamental stuff. let alone heeps of free resources can be found online.

Agreed, waste of money rather than a bargain.

      • Agree with the above two comments. This isn't a bargain. You learn all this course would 'teach' you from the manual of your camera or YouTube videos.
