With plenty leftover to buy an iPad mini!

    • +1

      No sports, unfortunately.

      • There are if your parents, friends etc have Foxtel and you have access via your iPad. ;)

        • My brother has Foxtel including Sports package. Do I just have to ask him nicely for his login details and I can then watch Foxtel Sports on my Ipad through Foxtel Go? Is it that easy?

        • +1

Yes that easy if he hasn't already got 2 devices hooked up to it. http://www.foxtel.com.au/whats-on/foxtelgo/default.htm

Cheers. Thanks. My bro pays for Foxtel and I get to watch the footy for free. That is awesome!!!

Can I cancel my several years of membership and re-sign?

I'm sick of BS offers like this for new customers while old ones get nada other than regular price increases and more bloody ads.

    • +2

I'd call up and let them know you're thinking of cancelling. Normally they'd try to do something to keep your business. Just suggest you noticed new customers are receiving ipad minis, and ask for one.

Otherwise cancel then sign up again.

    • Call and ask, say i want an Ipad mini for my continued support, or i want my plan at a better rate or better package. the ball is in your park. Until they cancel i guess..

    • The problem is if you cancel then re-sign you also lose any of the current rates you are paying. If you cancel and resign to get the promotion if you are on discounted rates you would probably lose your locked in rate you agreed at the start of the contract 12-24 months ago. I had investigated taking away packages but the Foxtel Rep told me that would lose the locked in prices for the packages. I never negotiated a 'better deal' foxtel just kept rising the prices for each of the packages over the last three years so the amount I am paying hasn't changed but is relatively cheaper than the going rate for each package ($3-4) these days. The foxtel rep told me if I took away sports that trigger an increase in the price of the rest of my packages so it was practically not worth downgrading (probably worth $4-6 extra a month it was made out). If I cancelled and resigned then I would have to pay the initial fee again (even though I have a connection port I think it's a bureaucratic thing with the taking away and handing back of boxes) and would lose any locked in rates.

you've fallen hook, line and sinker for the sales spiel buddy

        • How can I win with Foxtel? I'm in no position it's not like I can resign with any other cable company. There is no Galaxy/Optusvision/alternative.

        • I'm not interested in streaming digital content. I have TPG and the connection is terrible, I'm not sure whether there are problems at the exchange but I know it's not my Billion router or the computer I use. I have to reset it at least twice a night and never get fast connection speeds. Right now it's 800 / 6208 kbps but it's fickle and struggles randomly - it definitely can't 'hack' HD content, only when plugged in with the ethernet cable and even then. I also don't care for sports that foxtel screen endlessly: the league, the Nascar, the soccer. I'm just interested in the marathons they sometimes show, but even then that content is usually months old replays. They screened the Fukuoka Marathon marathon a month or so ago and it was run last year.

        • yep i get it , shitty monopoly situation

They are also charging $75 installation and $75 equipment fee

*Min cost $714 on direct debit (including $75 standard install and $75 equipment fee)

    Those fee's are usually waived
Probably they have added those fee's to offset iPad cost

  • How much is a 12month subscription anyway?

    • $795 or thereabouts

    • Depends of course on which packages you select, how many boxes etc. etc. I have two boxes (one IQ the other non-IQ) with no movie packages but the other three (sports, documentary, entertainment) and it costs $120 a month ($1200 a year) apparently it's a good deal if you pay separate it's $137 or something ($1370 a year)

      • +1

interesting … your calendar year is just 10 months …

        • Facepalm $1440 for 12 months and $1644 for 12 months

just a curious question, how much is cancellation fee anyway?

  • What about the xbox package https://www.foxtel.com.au/xbox/packages/default.htm $234 ipad mini?

  • It's a mini incentive

  • +2

You can sometimes get the free install deal and it the minimum cost is less than $480 for the year. Indeed, as EasternCulture has mentioned above, the cost of the ipad mini is included in the cost…. No bargain sadly

    • The $714 includes the IQHD too, so I assume it would be more than $480 if you were comparing the packages directly…not sure how much it normally is to add IQHD to the essentials though?

If IQHD was $5 a month ($60 a year), that would make the mini ~ $175.

At my rate of $23.50 over 12 months I could get a full sized ipad with the difference

Foxtel is a farce, good work ACCC.

Don't bother - they're releasing new plans next month.

One subscription for home, mobile and internet tv.

  • Just found this…6 months of Essentials with Foxtel iQHD for $216 installed:

  • I love my rugby union, but damn if I'm going to pay just for that. Thanks ARU for taking News Corp's money.

Not that Foxtel will install here anyway. They'll go up to the pit , then we would have to dig a trench to the house, ripping up driveway, lawns etc.

One of my mates his his brother's login and can somehow watch the rugby on his iPad. Unfortunately I have no such mates.

    • They do have satalite….
