Have to wear a disguise tommorow.. maybe one of those phony moustaches

    • +1

I've got one every day so far, no problem.

      • +2

Indian dude told me off but gave it to me anyway

        • +1

          Lol what'd he say?

        • +3

"Bro.. Its only one per customer.. If you read it properly you will see it says that.. I will give you this time but thats it.."

Right he was.. I had another printout in my pocket and it does say one per customer.

That was Elizabeth St Melb.. Gotta try another store tommorow..

        • +10

          You should've replied with:

"Bro…I know it's one per customer…but If you made it properly last time I wouldn't have been left unsatisfied…I'll give you guys one last try but thats it.."

        • +2

lol.. Damn that's a good comeback, dude

  • +2

T&Cs in the shop say 1 per customer per day. I have a few nearby so will rotate just in case!

    • Mmmm.. Interesting

    • hmmm interesting I didn't read the T&C on the big sign today.

      Will read it tomorrow.

  • does anyone know whether you are allowed to get hot chocolate with this voucher?

  • Works great at the new Michel's Mawson Lakes SA, even gave me 2 with 1 voucher!

  • claimed at Kardinya and Carousel (WA) so far. no problems, staff very pleasant and generous with the free coffees.

7 stores left to visit ;)

  • +1

Having no problems in having 2 free coffees a day :)

    Hunter connection, wynyard.

+1 to Michel's Patisserie for this offer and sticking to it.

  • Guys, accidently I marked it as Expired..How can I modify?

    • Was wonderin dat :-)

    • Can you edit the post and remove it? Otherwise whim mod.

BTW, I can confirm the T&C in store sign (not the big one the small one next to the cashier say "one per person per day".

  • Some stores are demanding that you print out the whole email. This happened today at Parramatta Westfields on the top floor. The other Micheles on the bottom floor were fine with my cut out vouchers though. Seems to me like some franchisees do not want to take part in the promotion…

    • Hornsby Westfield is doing this too.

  • They refused my voucher today in Townsville, and yes, they were terrible at making an excuse on the spot. So I promptly went to Gloria Jeans across from them.

    • What was their reason for refusing?

      • sumthing about how the promotion ended

    • Do they have a big sign outside their shop, mine have.

      • Do they have a big sign outside their shop, mine have.

        What does this sign state?

  • Has anyone managed to get anything other than a coffee for free? Hot chocolate?

    • Nope, hot choc didnt work for me at Adelaide CBD. They said the offer only includes Cappuccino, Latte, Flat White and Long Black. Funny how they read that part of the fine print but missed the "one per person" part.

Ah well, more bouncing around on caffeine for me :D

  • Is this deal getting killed or what?

    • +1

might try it today.. frankly the attitude they give with these offers (even when you don't abuse/take advantage) just turns off me to buy a coffee elsewhere

      • but you aren't "buying" it

      • +2

I don't get that. What's their problem? They're usually just lazy ass casual staff anyway! It's not like they're paying for it using their wages for crying out loud! Bloody sick of it.

  • lol it's not expired, just got one!

  • +1

    not expired, got one today.

If they are refusing I would argue with them until they gave in. head office would not be too happy to hear about their behaviour and it costs hardly anything to make a coffee!

  • My wife said they asked for the print out with email address today.

    • Mailinator.com?

  • I had the same problem at Rhodes, because I had cut out the voucher the Michel's dude accused me of making a copy and not presenting the original.
Got one at Surry Hills with the same voucher although he did casually ask for the email and said the voucher itself is ok.
Anyway, the T & C's on the voucher does not say you have to present the actual email, besides I don't want to give some stranger my email address!
I had a approached Michel's Head Office about this and they have told me to lodge an official complaint at http://www.michels.com.au/contact-us/

    • +3

Interesting. The one at Hornsby said to me "no you have to have the whole email, some people are photocopying that and it's just not right"
They must think that printing out the email deletes it from your computer.. for crying out loud.

  • i got an ice coffe, so good.

  • +1

I've got 5 free coffees so far but all at different stores (I travel around for work so been popping into a different one each time as I pass by). Had no problems at all with the voucher, no one has asked to see the email but I'll keep it handy on my phone incase someone does.

I have used it at Firle SA, Newton SA, Hollywood Plaza SA, Parabanks SA and West Lakes SA.

All the stores have been really friendly and coffee has been pretty decent actually.

    • +1

Thanks.. I used to live in Adelaide and Firle, Newton, etc bring back lotsa memories. I'll be there this Wednesday so will try my luck.. good 'ol Adelaide hospitality :-)

      • +1

Ah cool I live in Magill :)

        • +1

Campbelltown boy here.. went to Norwood Morialta both Magill/Norwood campasses

    • no one has asked to see the email but I'll keep it handy on my phone incase someone does.

No good. My printed coupon was initially refused at Sydney's Telstra Plaza store because they said it had to be a print out of the whole eMail. I then showed them the original eMail on my smartphone, but the guy then showed me part of a multi-page document from Michel's that stated that the eMail was required. Still gave me a free coffee after I mentioned making a complaint to Michel's head office. However, they insisted that I write my eMail address on the coupon. I should add that before offering the coupon I had also ordered a $5 Iced Chocolate drink and a pastry as part of my order.

All the stores have been really friendly and coffee has been pretty decent actually.

      Yup, my coffee was excellent.

  • Brookvale remember me because I got one last week but still gave me. She asked I printed or copy? I said from my email and I mentioned t&c said one per day but they don't have that sign up there.

  • I redeemed one from Chadstone VIC on Monday- no questions asked, 3 chaps in front of me used the exact same voucher. No hot choc/mocha, only valid for latte, cappuccino, flat white or long black. Coffee itself was decent :)

  • Decaf is 50c extra.

  • +1

The counter staff said the posted voucher is fake because a real one comes with an unique barcode on the bottom right. Is she correct?

Her manager was busy talking on the phone, so she gave me a free coffee "for this one time only"… as if I am a small schoolboy asking for an extra glass of milk.

I make better coffee at home with freshly roasted beans from Baybeans and grounded immediately prior to brewing.

    • No that's not correct at all

EDIT: It appears they have actually added a barcode now; previously they hadn't

      • +1

It appears they have actually added a barcode now; previously they hadn't

They have also changed the wording of the 'conditions'.
It used to say "one coffee per" with the next word missing, presumably it was "day" as no other word would have made any sense. Now it says "one offer per person during the promotion period".

Michel's in Telstra Plaza on George and Bathurst Streets in Sydney wanted a print-out with my email address.

        • I wonder if they actually strike off these email adresses though, I doubt it.

  • I 'm gonna give it a go.

  • they have added a barcode does that stop from redeeming more than one??

I also have a non-barcode email so can just keep printing that one too.

    • +1

i requested vouchers to two email addresses. i'm quite sure the barcodes are exactly the same. and besides, it's probably too small and blurry for them to even scan it

    • +2

The image in every email is directly linked to: http://www.michels.com.au/themes/michels/images/email/judgem… - the barcode is therefore the same on every voucher, so it won't stop you from redeeming multiple times.

I suspect they just didn't think hard enough about how to run the promotion and have been trying to fix things up on the run.

  • The most important question hasn't been asked yet, is the coffee actually good??

  • DON'T SUPPORT MICHEL'S Tea Tree Plaza
I gave a heap of these vouchers to my grandma, and at TTP they said
"It has to have a EMAIL ADDRESS!!".

So she went to muffin break instead:-)

    • +1

      poor grandma

      • I give her A HEAP of free OzBargain vouchers…

    • +3

Just write '[email protected]' on the spot next time ;-)

    • LO f'ing L-
Emailed head office about this, and guess what-
THEY SENT ME FREE COFFEE VOUCHERS

      • they haven't answered my complaint

  • +1

I think if more people lodge complaints to Michels (via http://www.michels.com.au/contact-us/ ) then the head office might be pressured into 'educating' their staff in accepting the vouchers without the email attached.

The new barcode thing is just silly. I could just present a voucher without a barcode because that's how I received it in the first place (and it's the first time I am using it).

The store staff need to be flat out TOLD that:-
      1) the original vouchers did not have any barcode
      2) the original vouchers offered a free coffee per day
      3) the offer does not state, and never has stated, that anything other than the voucher needs to be printed and presented

I have sent the above to Michel's Head Office via the form to which you linked.

      • +3

"the offer does not state, and never has stated, that anything other than the voucher needs to be printed and presented"

Exactly this. It's so sneaky that they are trying to change the conditions on the spot. I suppose they are just trying to weed out 90% of the people that might try to get a free coffee through legitimate means. Shame on them.

Correct. Here is their offer and their conditions:-

Complete the form below to receive a FREE voucher which entitles you to one small coffee^ at your local Michel’s Patisserie store during the month of June. Your free voucher will be emailed to you.

^Valid at all Michel's Patisserie Australian stores. 1 small Coffee per voucher only. Cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. Valid from 1/06/13 to 30/06/13. A printed voucher must be presented and surrendered for redemption. Free Coffee is a small Michel's Espresso Coffee only – includes Cappuccino, Latte, Flat White and Long Black. Free Coffee available in full cream or skim milk only. Excludes decaf, soy, espresso shots and flavoured syrups. One offer per person per during the campaign period. Offer is not redeemable for cash. Awarded 'Coffee Shop of the Year 2012' by the Roy Morgan Customer Satisfaction Awards.

I also find it very dishonest that they have changed their SUBMIT form so that it is now mandatory to check the box to give consent to receive "commercial messages" from "Michel's Patisserie or its nominee".

When I took up their free coffee offer at the end of May I did not have to "opt in" to receiving these Commercial Messages. Now one receives this message if the "Consent" box is not selected:-

"Please opt in to receive your free coffee voucher.
RFG and Michel's Patisserie respects your privacy. Your personal information will never be shared"

How can this be "opt in" (optional) if one can not proceed to receiving ones voucher unless it is selected?

  • went to Rockingham and Cockburn Central (WA) today. no issues with the non-barcoded voucher :)

  • Accepted at Ingle Farm SA, they looked at the small-ish voucher (without barcode) suspiciously and checked it against a (master copy???)

  • The Sydney Town Hall store were really nice and had no problem with the voucher itself. They even gave me some other discount vouchers to use next time.

  • You know what.
I visited the Mount Druitt Westfield shop (NSW 2770) last Saturday with the emailed voucher printed out. The woman said the printed voucher (had my name and email address on it) was not legitimate to get a free coffee. I am very disappointed.

She said (I think she is the owner, from China) showed me I must have a 'card' that in a shape of coffee cup, roughly in A5 size, coloured.

    • I must have a 'card' that in a shape of coffee cup, roughly in A5 size, coloured.

this one takes the cake for worst excuse so far -_-

      • My friend just gave me that 'card' today, original and coffee cup shape, I have no idea where she got it from.

  • My office colleagues are having at least 2 coffees a day. On top of that, they always go in group of 5-7 and with the photocopies of one printout only.

    • at which store can we get two freebies a day???

      • hunter st, wynyard

  • Got my free Cap this morning. Printed email. Coffee wasn't too shabby, not the best but certainly can't complain about a freebie.

Plenty of signage at the outlet about the promo.
