  • That banner on the main pages has a note that read "*prices inclusive of discount".

Possibly means the prices listed on their website are already marked down by 20%.

EDIT: nvm… clicked on each item & it brings you to another page with discounted price :(

  • Thats windows 8 full not RT? (Asus EEE Pad ME400C-1A032W)?

    • Yes, Full Windows 8

    • +3

Yes, that is Windows 8 full edition (but not the professional version).
I purchased one recently and it works an absolute treat.
I was quite worried about the Atom processor not performing at a reasonable speed as I had a HP netbook in the past with a single core Atom which was slow, however this Asus is lightning fast in comparison to the HP.
I have only installed Office and it runs them just fine, along with other Windows 7 apps in Desktop mode.
Absolutely the best value tablet on the market.
Very light and good battery life.

      • Any good keyboard deals?

        • +1

I bought a Bluetooth keyboard & touchpad combination on special a few days ago but it hasn't arrived yet so I can't comment on that as a good / bad option.
I did also buy the genuine Asus magnetic cover for it but it was a bit disappointing as it comes off a bit too easily for my liking. While I love the tablet, I wouldn't buy the Asus cover and I would look at a third party cover that protects both the back and the front.

          Cheers

      • How good is the battery life?

      • It's not because the Atom, it's due to the SSD and 2GB RAM

        • +1

the SSD on these machines are eMMC and about as fast as a 80 gigs platter hdd from 5 to 6 years ago.

          http://www.flickr.com/photos/lead_org/8635604111/in/photostr…

        • -1

          oh ASUS sucks

        • On the other hand, that image gives shows the SSD approaching 2000 4K random reads a second. By comparison, even the Velociraptor struggles to reach 300 4K random reads a second [1]. Even the slowest rotational disk is much faster than the SSD for sequential writes, but it is plausible that a netbook would do more random reads than sequential writes, so the SSD may actually still be a lot faster in practice.

          [1] http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/velociraptor-1tb-hdd-ssd…

    • It's got an Atom, which is an x86 processor. So full Windows 8.

      • Would this also mean that the bootloader etc. is unlocked to install a Linux distro?

  • +1

Damn I only got the ASUS ME400 last week and the price drops. Its a good tablet though

    • Who did you buy it from, perhaps they have a price guarantee??

  • I notice that the Nexus 7 3G doesn't have a 'buy online or check stock' link like the others do… Does this mean that they're out of stock, or that I can't buy it online, or what?

    • +1

most probably they have forgotten to list it online. Im sure stores shoulds have it in stock.

      • I rang a couple of stores and neither had any. Ended up getting one from HN. The general line I got from JB was that they hadn't had any for a while and were still waiting for stock to come in. What's the point of advertising a product on special if you don't have any to sell?

        • So everyone here can go to OW and pricematch :)

  • So we should be able to get the VivoTab(ME400C) price-matched fairly easily at Officeworks for ~$365.56?

    • good luck. officeworks will find some reason why they cannot pricematch. The List it under a different model number.

      SYME400C1B

      Asus VIVO 10" Tablet

      http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/Com…

      • Hmmm, still might be worth a try. There was plenty of other people in previous deals who had managed to get it done.

        • +1

          OW price match 362.90

= got ING Direct's 5% refund for using OW's Pay & Save machine, for extra savings
          (in 4x smaller transactions 3x $99 + 1x $65.90 as OW's staff are very helpful! :-)

        • whats this Pay and Save?

  • Anything on a Nexus 10?

    • Nexus 10 isn't soled outside the play store officially in Oz. Also, its a samsung product. and the above sale appears to be on Asus products.

      • Ahh I see. Thanks mate.

  • Hi guys,

Any ideas how good The Good Guys are price matching? I have been into my local store a few times to do a price match on some of these considerably largish discount on their advertised price and have been told "NO" every time. I am thinking maybe I need to try another store of people has had success price matching these deals with The Good Guys.

      • Thanks. That will really help for me to point that out to them this time. I had look previously on their website the last time some deal was on and couldn't find anything about the "before you buy" section. Cheers.

        • I wrote to them once to ask them to clarify what, "actively engaged in The Good Guys local retail market" actually meant on that page as it seemed a bit arbitrary. No response.

    • Take a copy of the actual catalogue with the price into a GG store and show them the price. They will then beat that price.

    • What I do is buy it at whatever their advertised price is, and then go back and get them to price match and beat the difference by 20%.

If you feel like being an ass just pay for it then after the transaction is finished tell them you now what it matched. That's what I did the last time >:D

      • what was the response?

  • Anyone can provide the full specifications for Asus EEE Pad ME400C-1A032W 10.1" 64GB Wi-Fi Tablet? Are Asus EEE Pad and VivoTab same ?

    • ^This. Officeworks stock the VivoTab, so if it's the same…price match ahoy!

Edit: Looks like no. Checked the pics on the Asus website, and they have different backs.

  • Nexus 7, 3G,no stock.

  • Finally a nexus 7 that officwworks can price match since they only don't sell 16gb ones lol. Price match also includes online, you must call them to do the process, or do in store to have delivered into store.

    Officeworks $335
    http://m.officeworks.com.au/mt/www.officeworks.com.au/retail…

    • +2

Good luck with price matching officeworks online - I once called them when Harvey Norman had it on $317, the lady on the phone said, "they didn't include GST and delivery, we are still cheaper, blah blah….", and no matter how many times I told her that the price published included GST, it was like arguing with a brick wall. I eventually gave up.

      • +3

It's illegal to advertise retail prices gst exclusive.

    • Perhaps if they have stock price macth could be valid, it looks like no stock to me.

So dont bother with price match something out of stock

    • +4
      • Cheers, I picked one up at HN on Rundle Mall. They apparently have a few.

  • I love to hear (scanned receipt) if anyone has price matched that Asus VIVO 10" 64GB wi-fi with Office Works.

    • A few people from previous deals have had success, and about half the number of those people haven't. Here is a receipt from the $395 computeralliance.com.au deal that Romants posted: http://imgur.com/S5DPH1V
It probably won't help you in this case, but it's proof that it has been done even with the mis-matching model number issue.
EDIT: Oh and if I manage to get it done for this deal today after work; I'll definitely post a copy.

  • Why isn't the TF300FD (with dock) included?

  • +1

I just rang and ordered the "Asus EEE Pad ME400C-1A032W 10.1" 64GB Wi-Fi Tablet" over the phone. Officeworks only had it in black so they only offered me 5% off the JB HiFi black price of $392.80 so it was $373.16 delivered.

Saves a trip to your local store as well seeing as shipping is free…

Note: HN is having 25% off Asus so some of the items listed on this deal are cheaper at HN

    • X2 just did that in the OW N Ryde NSW
the guy was cool with it ( black version )
trouble getting the case and screen protector though

      • Same - currently looking for best deal on the transleeve keyboard

    • HN have the 3G 32GB Nexus 7 for $276. Being under $300 makes it a full tax deduction so costs < $200 after EOFY. New Nexus 7 Gen2 will be better but I'm expecting it to cost > $350 at least so even if released before June 30 it won't get full tax benefits.

    • I just priced matched one at OW Five Dock.
Picked it up as I'm flying overseas next week (GST back too)

  • +1

Just did a price match at OW,so the price down to $365.56. At first, the shop assistant insisted this "VIVO" not
"EEE Pad" which displaying on JB website.I told her these tables have exactly specs and same model "ME400C"…
    Finally, the deal is done.

  • I also saw Logitech speakers are 30%off at JB, so anyone know the Logitech Z906 also involved in the deal?

  • +2

Just ordered and now Bing Lee has it for $382 http://www.binglee.com.au/asus-me400c-1b035w-tablet-pc
Which is $362.90 when price matched at Officeworks.

    Pulled the trigger too early!

    • Displays as $382 on the list of tablets http://www.binglee.com.au/catalogsearch/result?q=asus+tablet
but displays as $399 when you click on it (your link).
I assume $382 is the correct price?
EDIT: Nevermind; they've updated their price.

      • So I didn't want to post anything until I had my hands on them, and I have no idea what happened; but I managed to price match a black Asus VivoTab (ME400C-1B035W) from Bing Lee at $382 (above) from Officeworks for $312.90! Just picked them up. I bought two.
Can anyone explain what in Officeworks' terms of price matching did I miss? Or was it a lucky mistake? I was expecting $362.90.
Not complaining, I spent literally 56 minutes on the phone to get it done and the lady was super helpful. She even changed my free shipping to send them to my local store tomorrow, so that I could pick from their own stock today.

        • +1

its a mistake. they price matched 329 instead of 392

        • Of course! I missed that. Thanks, that makes sense now. Lucky buy I guess :)

        • You guess?

  • Just a note to everyone all these models are outgoing. Theres a new generation atom out, nexus 7 updated model is expected june 10 and the transformer is long overdue for a facelift (I havent heard anything on it yet but its expected to have a Tegra 4 version soon)

  • MUST KEEP WAITING!

  • if anyone is looking for a good keyboard/case combo for the VivoTab (the Windows tablet) amazon has one for $25 AUD- http://www.amazon.com/MiniSuit-Compatible-VivoTab-Smart-ME40…, need to use a US mail forwarder to get to Australia though

    • It says "(Case/Cover Only - Tablet and keyboard mobile dock not included.)" so the keyboard is not included, those pictures are a bit misleading! If I didn't notice that line I would have assumed it was included.

  • Interesting in the latest JB HI FI Catalogue I picked up today it has the Asus ME400C for $481 and lists the processor speed as 1.6GHz.

  • +1

The Asus ME400C is a fantastic little tablet, with full-flavour Windows 8. Battery life is excellent. Very nice, and definitely a bargain at this price.

Buyer beware though: the one I picked up at JB had problems with the magnetic clips on the bottom, for attaching the smart cover. The polarity was reversed, so the cover would only fit on backwards. I swapped over a couple of times at JB, and they all had the same issue. Might be a faulty batch.

To JB credit, they gave me a refund without issue, and I picked up another at Harvey Norman. No problems at all with the clips.

    • I heard that the magnets on the Transleeve are quite weak, which makes it difficult to support the tablet. Do you have such an issue?

      • It's definitely not the same standard of strength as the Surface, but this is a completely different price bracket. Supports the tablet fine, although folding up the transleeve into position is a little fiddly because of the way it folds. Not a major drama though, once it's in position it does the job.

    • How much did JB charge for the transleeve?

      • JB didn't stock them. At least, mine didn't. I bought it at HN, $49. A bit pricey, but bought out of necessity, in the absence of any other local stockist.

        • So that was the sleeve only, not the keyboard as well right?

        • +1

Yep, sleeve only. Read some dodgy reviews about the keyboard. I'll grab a Bluetooth one at some point, but the onscreen one is actually pretty decent.

The model (Asus EEE Pad ME400C-1A032W 10.1" 64GB Wi-Fi Tablet (White) $384.80 Delivered ($10 more for Black) also comes with bonus MS Office 2013. New promotion from Asus expires June 30. Link below:

    http://www.vision6.com.au/em/message/email/view.php?id=10136…

I had a look at this tablet but not for me as I will wait for next generation.

    • Looks that the same version is selling on eBay at around $115. Which makes this tablet a steal.

      • I registered for this promotion and all it asked for was an email address (didnt require physical address) so I suspect this is just a key they email you rather than the DVD version seling for $115 on ebay.

        • +1

They did require a physical address when I register for the promo! Did u miss something? Try again.

        • Thanks … I tried again and yes there was a field for physical address … maybe I put the wrong thing in the first time I registered.

    • This looks like a great deal, but it seems that it doesnt include Outlook.

Any thoughts whether it could be upgraded to include it?

      • Outlook is useless to me anyway. Gmail dominates.

        • Gmail for personal,

Outlook for Work connected to the Exchange server.

  • +1

Anyone been able to pricematch at a Melbourne Officeworks?

FWIW, I did a search for SYME400C1B. The only results that come up on Google are from Officeworks.

It seems to me like they have struck a deal with Asus to give them a different model number so they can avoid pricematching with parallel imports.

I am curious. To those who already bought this tablet, what does the packaging actually say the model name is? Vivo? VivoTab? EEE Pad?

    • OW ones are called Asus VivoTab Smart

  • I've done price matching at Officeworks Fairy Meadow with no issue. However that's the last stock they have :)

  • So, how does ASUS deliver the MS Office Home & Student 2013 bonus?

    And… how SOON…? :-)

    • Gifts will be delivered to winning recipients addresses within 28 days of being redeemed.

      • WHAT?!? Does this mean not -everyone- gets a license for MS Office Home & Student 2013…?!?

(I thought there was -also- a prize draw, for some other item(s), but we would all get MS O H&S.)

  • Ok. Some facts about OW price matching:
    1. I just bought two for $360 something each from Officeworks on Princess Highway, Carnegie. No resistance.
    2. Despite the internal product code, there is an OEM sticker on the Asus box that gives away the Asus product code, that would allow you to circumvent the whole different product code argument you might imagine OW employees would put up.

  • Just bought the tablet for $360 at office works chadstone. No issues at all in and out in 5mins!!
    Really good tablet!

  • 362 from ow no issue in Victoria Park Perth

  • +1. For the problem with the magnets…
I price matched bing lee at OW (around $360) and bought the transleeve from HN. The sleeve fits only when put on backwards. I plan to return to OW tomorrow to see if I can get a good one…

  • Noob question, how is this compared to acer iconia w510?

  • I think when 1200p tablets arrive, 2014 there might be something for me.(onward w/ incrementalism

    • I think an even greater issue than display resolution is the fact that these Atom tabs don't support USB 3. Bigger sticking point for me.

      • Agree, only I would diverge either way viz a viz wintel/Novo10, final architecture, i expect within my constrained <270.00;

"NOVO10" was to have sorted at least my complaint (Haipad i7-t - 600p- browsing experience)

https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0157/7514/files/Ainol_Cata… but projects appear get inevitably delayed in any dud year for slates.

  • Anyone knows if the ram in this tablet is upgradeable? I have seen some ASUS netbook/tablet/laptop that have the ram soldered onboard and no room for upgrade.

    • You're obviously very observant…
I think you'll find that there are many tablets with soldered RAM .
      Many, many. Indeedy doody.

  • Ow reduced their price to 392 already. No more pm.

  • $362 is price matched from $382. So still PM until it's officially $382.

    • The ow I went only hv black

      • yes. and binglee have the black for 382
