(Target) J.A. Henckels Various Kitchen Blades All $15 Was $70

970

In a continuation of tantryl's post here, J.A Henckle brand knifes are on sale once again, and to the delight of myself and many of the Ozbargain Stabbers Group (its a thing), they are now reduced to the all time low of $15. Every knife, $15. Even the big ones.

Anybody worried about the integrity of the knives should rest assured as these are made from genuine german steel, which means each blade contains a little piece of a German. That's quality.

PS My deepest apologies for the picture. If I was better at photoshop I might have actually spent half and hour trying to fix that.

31/05/13 - The reductions continue - knives are now $9 as per this deal http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/105054

Might be worth noting the store somewhere.

Good prices though for reasonably good knives.

    • +2

      Target

This price slash will cleave through the competitions sales, who would be cut up that they won't be able to slice up a better deal without chopping margins significantly.

+1 for the humour in the description. Love it!

  • +1

    WOW

These are damn good knives for $15 each - I would go as far as saying you won't buy better for this price…

I paid $35.83 for mine when I picked them up a few weeks ago - spewing now :(

Bear in mind they are actually made in Spain, but manufactured from German steel (among other things)….

Very very good knives for the money….

    • And the Germans bought the iron ore from australia

  • There are 2 of them on the target online store at $15. Will swing into the shops tomorrow to check if there's more.

    • Gone already on the online store lol

  • thank for sharing OP…will check it out later.

  • Is this at every target? National?

    • Yeah I would like to know also.

  • Cheers, will check our local Target tomorrow. Unless of course someone can confirm these are not available in WA.

Hey OP, did you see any cleaver knives on sale too?

  • +2

I think it's national wide. I bought one at chermside qld 30 minutes ago.

  • +1

bugger i hope these are still available tomorrow

  • Is chef or santoku better?

    • Personal preference. I like santokus, the scalloped blade reduces the chance of sticking and the blade shape makes chopping easier for me.

  • Stock levels, all stores ?

    • This is all stores - but your local may have many or none….

They have been on clearance for several months, with the prices dropping every few weeks….

    • Stock levels? Enough for all the brodens of world. Though I doubt he would, single knives do not sell well on ebay(not that I checked or anything).

No, it will depend on the area. Southland looked like it had been 50% taken, while Waverly gardens was stacked to the point it was spilling over.

Heres the other photo showing stock level at southland vic.

Didn't see any cleavers. The Tramontina 7" santoku knife in the photo above is $17 and comes with a steel handle, but I didn't price check any others.

      • 24 May 8pm: Waverley gardens - all out and none at Camberwell either.

        • went to Waverley Gardens at lunch time, only had 3 of the 6"s & 4 of the 4"s left.
hit up Northlands about 6pm, nothing left

  • +6

I'll have a stab at it and check Target tomorrow.

    • Mate, you know the rules about giving knives as gifts, right? Bad bad luck. Solution: give a small coin with the knife, then the recipient gives the coin back to you. That way, they've 'bought' the knife from you and avoided the bad luck.

  • OP's Bargain makes a good point.

  • Highpoint VIC only has 4" pairing, 5" santoku and 6" utility. Around 10 each in stock.

  • Plenty at Waurn Ponds Target

  • Quite a few still left at Carindale. At least 10 of the smaller knives. Haha a fellow ozb was on it as well. I could tell because he just went straight to the knives even though there was no sale sign…

Also, don't see any $70 ones, max price appears to be $39 only

  • +1

Paramatta still has Chef Knife & 7" santoku Knife in stock. price tag showing $39 but actually $15. They are not in the knife but in the clearance area near the bedding stuff

  • Had a look at target chermside today, and they amazingly still had some. In fact, as I walked into the store, the first thing I see is a guy walking out with 3 of the big knives. I thought for sure he had grabbed the last ones :P

Anyway, I grabbed the large chef and the large santoku. There was 1 large chef left and plenty of the small ones (all three versions from the original post). I left the store around 4.45pm, so it should still be there sunday morning if anyone is interested. They are marked with 3 tags, $70, $40 (I think) and finally $15.

EDIT: just read the other comments, and someone mentioned a cleaver! If anyone knows a store around brisbane with the cleaver still in stock, please let me know. Doesn't look like this is stocked (unless people are confusing it with the santoku), but if it is I sure would like to grab one.

    • Might be my fault, I said cleaver instead of santoku.

      • if you're 3 years old or got tiny hands then it pretty much is a cleaver.

  • Thanks OP +

  • Glendale still has lots of santoku knives. Got the last paring knife and still a utility knife left. I've been a minor broden and bought 3 extra santokus for Christmas presents.
