[HARDCOVER BOOK, COLLECTOR'S EDITION] Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance [$10] at JBHIFI

270

Normally these collector's editions are sold at $50 upon release, I found this among other ones (Hitman: Absolution, Halo 4) for $10 at my local JBHIFI. Pretty worthwhile if you're a fan of the series or if you're a collector. Couldn't get away from this bargain.

There were 3 of these books in-stock, in addition to others that I mentioned above.

Exclusive to the Collector's Edition
• A 16-page character gallery with background from the development team presenting the artistic choices they made in creating each game character.
• Includes a sequentially numbered lithograph created by Yoji Shinkawa printed in high-quality, textured paper.
• A Collector's Edition hardcover.

I assume JBHIFI as a whole operates as a single identity, so the price of this book should be consistent throughout all stores. If not, this book was purchased in Queensland.

    game not included =(

Yeh, might be handy to mention its the official strategy guide book somewhere in the post or title…

        • +7

How would you reword it then to make it more obvious that it's a book? Obviously I didn't make it clear to you that it wasn't the game, and [HARDCOVER BOOK] as the initial phrase of the title wasn't immediately apparent.

Apologies again, I was under the impression that we were all aware of the definition of 'hardcover'

No worries. Just make sure you consult a dictionary before you post again, OK? Or as you would probably rather put it: [CRAPPY GUIDE BOOK FOR ILLITERATES]

        • +10

There's a clear difference between what a "book" and "hardcover" refers to aesthetically. You don't understand that, that's fine. Saying that people only list hardcovers as books in listings? You should probably try clicking that search button first. Illiterate and ignorant, what other qualities do you have beakeroo?

        • so many negs, you deserve a neg trophy

So many neg sheep. When I voted plus on this deal it looked like a deal for a game as many others pointed out. I came back and read the thread and title change and so revoked my vote ($10 for a guide book is not a deal to me.) OP got pissy, big deal, he should have said "This is my first post, I'm gonna be a prissy little A-hole if you revoke your vote or disagree with me" in the post.

So now you're still whinging because someone whinged about the time when you whinged?

          Is it school holidays already?

People actually buy these books ?

  • +12

Dunno about you other gamers, but when I see the word hardcover, it translates to steelbook…the closest I get to a gaming book is sniffing the manual…

    • I think the overall consensus for this post is that it's not worth purchasing if you're purely after its content as a strategy guide. The main reason why I posted this was because of the price and what it comes with in addition to the information. Each book comes with a numbered lithograph of Raiden, the protagonist of the game. So in that sense, each one is unique. That, in addition to the extra pages of art concepts and forewards from the dev team appeals to people who are interested in owning more than just the game itself.

Think of these 'extras' as like one of those gimmicks and add-ons you receive when purchasing a game's collector's edition.

    • "That's right. When I was your age, television was called books."
      This quote seemed apt.

  • I laugh how ITT people actually compare books like this to Internet guides. Just how streaming a movie is the same as a full featured blu ray.

I'd pick one up if I see it at a JB Hifi. The MGS games usually give you enough to figure things out and I personally don't need a strategy guide to help me through the game (more fun playing without one) but I love reading the non walkthrough sections. Like profiles into the characters, info about the game, back story, plus designs for characters/vehicles/etc. What's it like regarding this, OP? Any good?

There's the standard bios and stuff that are included in both softcover and hardcover editions, but you get 16 additional pages of content that goes into the creative processes behind each character. Interesting read.

      • Nice, thanks! :) I hope my JB store has one at the same price. For the MGS HD Collection, I bought the Xbox Limited Edition version just so I could get the book that came with it. Sold the game afterwards. I love them things :)

  • So anyone find it elsewhere? It seems as though this store is just clearing stock… I doubt other stores would have it at this price or even have stock.

Thx for posting, surely worth it just for the artwork alone.

disappointing its not the game but pos vote for the effort to post it and me being a huge fan of the franchise (there are lot of people who dont appreciate that effort in this forum )

    hardcover = books

if you don't know what hardcover is, bless your lost soul lmao

    • Yep. You can tell from the spine of the book.

      • yeah i couldnt tell from your pic, but its all good.

  • Are you meant to put your game case inside the book? Is it sized for a PS3 game or Xbox?

  • Can you please tell me which JB store you brought this guide from, my local store said this book was never on discount. They will call the other store to confirm it, can you please let me know! Thanks
