"… if I could turn back time…" sing

  • Yea… it was less than $160, about $15X Sydney<->Singapore Return 1 year ago…

  • Any one way ticket from syd to Singapore for below $150?

    • +1

Best i've seen lately was $199 one way Syd->SG

I think holding out for $150 return fares from a year ago is unrealistic.

really wanna book during xmas time but prices skyrocket then sigh.

I prefer Qantas at $375 return for seat bag eat!

    • Is it? That's gonna be worth the extra $41 to most people, especially if you want to bring any shopping home.

      • That includes a night in a dorm in Singapore and 15000 QFF points in that $375 return.

        • Is this from the expedia brazil website?

        • Yes, just select the accommodation option for one night and pick the backpackers in Bugis which is the cheapest option if Batam is not showing. Comes in at 750 real.

        • Cool, thanks. Might pick Batam hotel instead of Bugis

        • how did you score 15000 QFF points??

        • must be a platinum status

        • You do realise Batam is actually a ferry ride to Indonesia from Singapore right ?

        • Actually it is a discount economy class airfare, you would get 7816 points for syd/sin/syd normally.

        • Yup, I know. Batam is my hometown and I can only get home via Singapore. Still have family home there but if I could get one night free in one of the hotels then might as well, he he :)

        • Its cheaper to take the night and not use it than to book outright.

        • Correct, in fact its closer to 18000 as I route via Syd from Brisbane

          Status Total points Status credits
          Platinum 17,632* 80
          Gold 15,678* 80
          Silver 13,724* 80
          Bronze 9,816* 80

        • I booked one with expedia br last month and did not know about the free accommodation. Are you sure that the price wouldn't be lower if you don't add the accommodation?

        • Its R828 with no hotel, as they charge a large booking fee that gets taken away if accommodation is booked.

how to get Qantas at $375 return ?

      • +1

Go to Expedia.com.br, use Chrome to translate, pick dates (school holidays are gone) and also ask for a hotel for one night), using the batam hotels or bugis backpackers you should get a total 768 Real.

        768.00 BRL = 378.331 AUD

        Eg:

        Total: R$768,04
        Incluído:

Itens selecionados, impostos e taxas de serviço.

        • Found the answer..

        • Select airfare + hotel on first page before searching, the Voo + Hotel options, then select the
"Preciso de um hotel para apenas parte de minha viagem" checkbox and enter one night for dates, you will also need to change adults to 1 if solo.

        • thanks, I just found it.

    • Exactly the way to go.
Full service, full bags, full points.
Plenty of avail when I checked yesterday.

  • How do you get the free return flight?
There are $199 flights from OOL but I can't see any returns for $0.
Is there a promo code or something you need to enter?

    • It's free flight, but pay taxes of about $55. Hence they have called it a "Fee" flight.
It's automatically applied when you search for a return flight

      • I searched all of July, Aug, Sep and the cheapest price for the return Journey is $190.
Thought I must have been missing something, not much of a sale if there are no flights.

        • Maybe you didn't click from the link? because I could see all return flights are $55 on my flight search

        • Yeah, click the ad on the main page. I checked some flights in the first week of Sept and also some in July and they were all fees onyl on the way back.

        • OK, I had a lok at Sydney and can see the cheap returns, but there is nothing from Coolangatta.
It didn't say anything in the email that it was only Sydney so I was assuming it was for OOL as well.

        • +1

"for round trip travel in Economy class out of Sydney to Singapore only, from now to 30 September 2013."

Down the bottom of the email.

Everytime I check flights out of OOL it always tells me there aren't any!

  • +1

Would they stop you if you wear a jacket with lots and lots of pockets?

    • +1

I once came home with oversized luggage. Wore a trenchcoat onto the plain with shoes in the pockets.

  • some ideas of workaround but i not sure if it's valid…

SIN to SYD = from S$176 average, return flight $0

let say you want to depart on June 26 from SYD and return on July 23rd from SG,

make 2 return bookings on the dates from SIN to SYD, make sure 2 of the 4 dates booked coincides with the dates you want to travel. purposely miss the days which you are not going to travel. This could save you some $$$ as oppose to book return flights from SYD to SG.

    • +1

I think you'll find that if you don't show up for the first leg of your itinerary (ie the first SIN-SYD segment) the remainder of the itinerary will be cancelled, as is standard practice in the industry.

      • +1

        ^^^ THIS

Check fare rules to be 100% sure, but 99% of the time on a return ticket it's miss 1st leg, lose the lot.

      • Well Air Asia dont apply then because i just missed my flight Clark To Kuala Lumpur but i have already checked in online for the return leg.

      • Great advice. It's good to go for the bargains, but it can backfire if you don't know the rules you are playing with.
