Trying to place an order 30 times and still get this message.

SQLSTATE[40001]: Serialization failure: 1213 Deadlock found when trying to get lock; try restarting transaction. Contact us if you need help

    • make your browser "private" then try… it worked for me

Oh WOW. They are using DB2!!!! Dear god!

  • Tons of $20 card left at Harvey Norman Chadstone, according to what the girl told me.
So just do a drop by there if you're nearby.

  • Site is working fine using paypal.

Where it's out of stock in stores, and they're charging $3 for delivery, I certainly hope they don't just email the codes out like they did last time they had this promo, rather than mailing cards.

  • I'm try big to pay with credit card here!! Someone confirms it works?

    • Credit card worked ok for me. Had to sign in to Harvey Norman account to get it to go through though.

    • it worked for me after tried for like 10 times.

  • Sold out :(

Edit nope works :) Got one for me, one for mum

AEST.. WA shops here arnt even open till this thing ends. I got one online but dam it was difficult to get the right link to work. Thanks for the heads up guys good thing I check this site before I get the paper.

    • In store 10 - 11 WA also (20 min left)

  • +3

Got one online. Was pretty painless. I would waste more than $3 worth of my time lining up in store.

  • Got ow to price match works like charm.

  • Thanks OP purchased 4x at local harvey norman store with no issues :)

  • My credit card failed a few times :( Maybe tomorrow morning if I remember I'll rock up to an actual HN store.

  • almost forgot about it doing other things, but got an order in at the last fews mins, I'll see if I get it in-store tomorrow as the Cairns store have refused these deals in the past

  • I had no problems with Paypal ordering after 11am

    • I had my cc verified then the site had an SQL deadlock item was still in cart after 11am. Tried to place order again it emptied my cart and page expired. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • Anyone tried multiple online purchases? Or is it strictly 1 per customer?

    • +1

You can do it in multiple transactions, but have to use a different name/email address for each set of cards purchased.
Not sure how that would work because you (apparently) need photo ID if picking up in-store. I guess if a family member is willing to hand over their ID it'd work?
We did that last time, prepared to go in, but they sent out dodgey-looking receipts with the code on them instead.

  • Just got two sets ($80 worth of iTunes cards for $40) price matching at officeworks! Yay =D
Unfortunately the one I went to (near Holden Hill), didn't beat by 5% because it's not a "regular" item.
Couldn't really be bothered disputing that that's not what the website applicable items say.

  • Looks like it's done for today, drops out of the cart after you add it, come back tomorrow :)

  • Ow doesn't really follow the limit procedure, also the HN website still has the item on there main page, I'm sure ow will still get the transaction done for you, just don't let them go deep :p

    • +1

No longer on the main page. Another chance tomorrow for sleepy heads.

  • Got 4 for $40 @ HN Gepps Cross even though it said online no stock, they still had them.
Girl at checkout seemed to not care that it limited per customer, she just sold them to me.

  • I managed to get 2 cards (so 4 in total) from HN Fortitude Valley, Brisbane :)

  • Bought 2 thanks op (they are great presents)

  • Cheers OP

  • Got mine…maybe get this..https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/xcom-enemy-unknown/id639544885?mt=8...half price!

  • Thanks op!

  • I wonder if we can buy another one tomorrow if we bought one today.

  • How do we get it online? Do we have to go in stores to get another one?

  • How is it possible to get OW to match their price? Do we have to go into OfficeWorks between 10am-11am?

  • +1

Can't find it, did they change the link again?

  • I can't find it. Anyone know how to purchase?

  • i purchased a $20 gift card but in my order there is nothing about the buy one get one!

  • Same issue, none of the links work and the picture from their "Ripper Weekend" promo page appears to have its link removed.

  • I'm going to OfficeWorks and getting them to match this. I don't trust HV and none of my stores show any stock anyway

  • I can't get it to work either. Each time I click on it is says "There is nothing in your cart."

  • I'm in WA, apart from ripper advert, nothing else about 2 for 1 coming up at check out etc. Would Officeworks match this?

  • +2

The actual page from yesterday is still accessible (http://www.harveynorman.com.au/itunes-20-gift-card-buy-one-g…), but its not possible to add the item to your cart.

    • Yes it is. I just did.

      • But I cant seem to pay via CC. Gives me a SQL error.

        • But I've managed to pay with paypal

    • Thanx for that link mate, did the trick for my confused old head ;-)

  • Has anybody been able to buy this online? What did it say on the receipt?

    • Worked for me

      Product Details: Price
      1 x iTunes $20 Gift Card - ITUNESPROMO
Includes BUY ONE, GET ONE AS A BONUS!
      $20
      Total Paid $20

    • Ok, got it working now.

    • This is the link I used to get it working if anyone needs help. It completes as ljg00 mentions above.

  • Talked with HN online service, said to purchase through standard link and it'll be processed as 2 for 1 which includes pickup too. Since I'm in Perth I'm not sure whether I should just go and pick it up instore rather than doing it online when the link doesn't really work

    edit: promo link works now!

    • All good for me down in Mandurah, paid the $3 for postage though, couldn't be brothered with parking and cueing at till etc

  • The link that Blacknwhite posted is working now, I just successfully purchased offer.

  • Went to a Harvey Norman store and they said "Sorry, the deal was yesterday".
I came home, ordered them on the website and it allows you to enter your paypal details and says "error: order not submitted"

Darn Harvey Norman; I've been screwed over by them so many times and yet I still keep trying.

    • Should of have told them to put it through, if the price came out $20 you buy them if not just tell them you forgot to bring your wallet.

      • +1

        I ended up paying them $30 for 2 x $20 itunes vouchers.
I was miffed, so I jumped on their online chat and confirmed the price. I told them about my experience. Within minutes the manager of my local HN called me and apologised and offered me a $10 refund…

A+ - For quickly rectifying the problem after I brought it to their attention
F- - For having the problem in the first place. Communication from their head office to the individual stores is quite poor.

  • Scoop! Family of six pays off this time round!!!

    LOL credit card not working.

    Paypal also not working

Unable to place the order. Contact us if you need help.

    What a failure

  • It won't let me place an order online even if delivery is selected. Paying through paypal. Anyone got this problem?

  • Just completed a transaction 2 minutes ago… Didn't work for the first 30 minutes of the hour.

    Try using

    http://m.harveynorman.com.au/homepage/itunes-20-gift-card-bu…

  • Mine failed the first time with SQL error (payment by CC), but went through the second time when using PayPal. Anyone confirmed that their card didn't get charged for the failed transaction?

  • Woot. Got another onnne.

The following link worked for me. I tried paying with credit card first but that failed. I was able to successfully place an order using paypal.

    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/homepage/itunes-20-gift-card-…

  • The link is working now. Once it's in your cart and you are trying to pay just keep on trying over and over again until it accepts it.

  • this link worked for me 2mins ago:
    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/itunes-20-gift-card-buy-one-g…

only able to get one at a time. After paying with paypal it come with an error:
"Unable to place the order. Contact us if you need help." but just tick the box and click "place order" several times and it worked for me :)

  • HN online chat rep:

We do apologise, there is a large volume of traffic on the website. Please refresh your page.

    urghhh….

  • Keeps crashing on payment, useless

    • +1

keep trying it will go through :)

      • you're right, cheers!

    Plenty in campbelltown store

  • Just got two….
The first it took about 10 attempts to add it to the cart and second took about 5 attempts to process the payment.

  • Will HN cancel transactions if you do too many? As far as I can see, I can just make up names at my address and the transaction goes through fine. What's their cross checking procedure?

  • Tip: use the mobile site. Works fine. Paid using CC no probs or delays

    • Absolutely no problems for me too.

  • It's funny that today's GO TO DEAL icon does NOT work as it's ONLY a gif image UNTIL it is changed to a working HOT link in the last few minutes!!

Luckily I manage to get one!

Yestesday's "GO TO DEAL" Icon did go to the HOT LINK page.

  • Thank you OP!

  • Hmm price match at OW was a no go for me. I talked to a rep who said they could, i got to the counter, big no from the cashier.
    Sigh…

  • Showed the rep HN website for buy 1 get 1 deal, pricematched at OW just before 11AM with no issue.
    thanks!

  • It was pretty stupid to giving it a 1 hour window. The key was to visit your local OW I guess.

    • I'm guessing it was to prevent people from driving to too many stores to pick up more sets to circumvent 'one per person' (and then probably coming back and hoping for someone else working at the counter to get even more.) If that was the motivation then seems pretty reasonable to me.

  • +1

Not sure how it went for everyone else, but buying both online and in store was surprisingly a breeze for me.

Saturday refreshed the page a few times and didn't see it change, then noticed the buy one get one free link on the front page about 6 mins in, no problems purchasing at all (though doesn't seem like that for most people which is weird since I would have thought that's when the site was most likely to crash, but nothing of the sort seemed to happen, the site didn't even lag.) According to some comments too they were listed as out of stock because it was a promotion, but in the same box that said 'out of stock' the website also said it was fine to back order them.

Then my brother needed more so I went on the Sun at 10:50, walked up to the counter, mid sentence he goes 'iTunes cards right? How many?' probably because I didn't have any items in my hands and just goes 'please wait a bit, we've run out of pre authorized ones we'll have to do some more' and talks to to the manager (I assume) who goes 'yeah do another batch' and the guy was running two machines to authorize around 20 more cards at around 10:55am.

All the bad experiences in the past have made us cynical I guess but this one went really well in my book.

  • my orders have been shipped.

I live in bendigo and fastway says the order is coming from Bendigo. Are yours coming from your home town or are all coming from Bendigo?

    • It's being courier and not posted?

      • Yeah its being sent by fastway, tracking no. and all

  • These come from your local store. I ordered this Saturday, it came yesterday. Pretty sure someone from Harvey Normal literally put this in my mail box, as there was no post marks or stamps or signs on the envelope it had actually been posted, and the mail round here just does not work that fast.

    • Maybe one of your neighbours happen to work there. ;)

  • Anyone still waiting for their order like me?

Tried contacting HN and am now awaiting a response (only had an online enquiry form available).

    • I got mine in the mail quite quickly, 1-2 business days after ordering on the Saturday (in Melb).

mine weren't just receipts either, they are actual iTunes Gift Cards FWIW

  • yes, still waiting here. ordered and paid for on the saturday.

    • Received them last night - regular envelope from HN.

  • Still waiting, here in Adelaide.

  • Still waiting in Sydney.

  • Got a message on the 30th saying to come in store and pick it up. Still waiting for them to send it.

  • Mine arrived a few days ago. Two $20 gift cards in a normal envelope. Very happy.

  • I'm still waiting for ours.

    • Still waiting

  • I just emailed them to find out where my cards are. This is their response:

Your online order was sent to you 01.07.13 via australia post to the address on the online order invoice

Looks like the order went missing in the post - They better not expect me to wear this
