Australian Apple iPhone 5 64GB $899 (Pick up Brisbane City)

20

I was on the lookout for an iPhone 5 for work, so it had to be Australian stock with a tax invoice (and payable via AMEX)

Mobile Made Simple in brisbane city have the iPhone 5 64GB on special at $899 (save $100 on retail). This is an instore price.

They are Telstra phones but are not locked (I am using Optus) and says they come with 24month Australian warranty.

Very happy with mine as cheapest I could find locally.

Kogan is grey import at $929 + shipping (no tax invoice - possibly no Australian warranty)

Isnt iPhone 5S release just around the corner or is it just a rumor ?

    • +2

It's rumored for a September release, nothing offical. Though the previous iphone releases were

      1st gen: June 29, 2007
      3G: July 11, 2008
      3GS: June 19, 2009
      4: June 24, 2010
      4S: October 14, 2011
      5: September 21, 2012

Not sure. But I needed a phone.
Plus whenever a new iPhone comes out they are very hard to get, and discounts are unheard of.

      • Plus whenever a new iPhone comes out they are very hard to get, and discounts are unheard of.

True, but with a 28 Degrees Card you can claim back any price drops within 6 months (even on Kogan stock)

        • They never drop in price (RRP
is still 999), it's just you may find them negotiable later on.

        • Plus you did say you wanted AMEX purchase so the 28 degrees card is irrelevant

        • Yes, I used a corporate AMEX. Interestingly, every other apple product we get discounted via work- except iPhone.

    • nah it would be almost certainly be around Aug/Sep, cycle's almost over and they'll officially release ios 7 in conjunction with new devices

    • i think your thinking of the nexus 5 which is due just around the corner and a bit.

It's currently listed @ $947.00 on the site you have the deal linked to
I also note the description says 24 month manufacturers warranty - not sure where that comes from as Apple offer 12 months only (yes I know about the unsubstantiated claims they will honour 24 months)

    • 899 in store. It was on special.

      • -7

That's not stated in your post on the deal - and the link is to a different price than you quote

If you put "Pickup Only" it would have been clear that to get that price you needed to visit the store - ie not available online

I never stated delivery but have made it extra clear. Thanks for your valuable feedback dog

Is that really worth a neg?

I thought so - I guess others will make up their own mind and rate it accordingly

      • After you changed the title to reflect the correct deal details I revoked my negative vote

Australian Apple iPhone 5 64GB $899 - free Pick up Brisbane City

Free pickup is included, that's pretty good.

    • Some places charge a processing fee for pick up - particially ebay

  • Under the Package Contents Tab it says

    Network Lock Unlocked
    Warranty 12 Months Unique Mobiles
    Condition Brand New
    Stock Import Direct

    • Yeah, that's weird. Because it was sealed with Telstra packaging, and I already registered and checked the warranty on Apple's support coverage site and it says it's fine.

So I think that must be a misprint.

I doubt they'd bother selling a grey import here with GST - when Kogan etc simply ship them from o'seas to avoid GST.

  • $909 from Unique mobiles for Australian stock @ http://www.uniquemobiles.com.au/mobile-phones/apple/apple-ip…
$899 from Unique Mobiles for Import stock @ http://www.uniquemobiles.com.au/mobile-phones/apple/apple-ip…

Maybe this shop is linked to Unique Mobiles in some way?

    • not sure, but Unique Mobiles don't appear to offer pick up and shipping to Brisbane is $26 standard insured. Which sorta kills the deal.

$900 for an almost one year old soon to be replaced iPhone and ppl still think they are getting a good deal o_0

    • Not $900 My work provides it

      So $900 - $80 GST = $820

      minus 38.5% marginal tax = $504

      • That's good for you, but for most people who can't claim GST back on it, it is $899.

  • pretty poor deal for an outdated soon to be replace phone - who pays $900 for a 1 year old phone lol

    • Not $900 My work provides it

      So $900 - $80 GST = $820

      minus 38.5% marginal tax = $504
