  • Good price on the WD Elements 2TB portable drive.

Watch for this supplier. Never received memory cards from last post. Contact him more than 25 times on 1300 number but no luck. He blame Australia post but have no proof. Abn don't match either.

oh forgot to mention that postage is FLAT RATE so you can buy all you want and only pay $4.95

  • Great price. Thanks

  • Elements vs Passport?
    Which one?
    They're the same price.

    • Both same. Passport can do password encryption and automatic backups however is an older discontinued model

      • Isn't Elements the 3.5" model and My Passport the 2.5"?

Wait, has the My Passport already sold out??

        • No and Yes ;)

        • there is a 2.5" portable elements as well. and yes unfortunately everyone wanted the passport since i posted the previous comment

  • Do you have white Logitech ultrathin keyboard ?

    • no more whites sorry

Unrelated, but FYI, this clause in your shipping & returns info is against consumer law, which states that customers can return products to the retailer in the case of major faults:

5.There are NO STORE RETURNS for retail boxed processors, printers, CRTs and LCDs for repair or refund. Customers agree that these items can only be returned to manufacturers for replacement/repair except in cases of shipping wrong item or clear shipping damage. NO EXCEPTIONS.

    • i had someone write up our shipping and returns clause however we are not currently selling any printers, CRTS and LCDs. i will follow this up

      • You still blames Australia post for not sending the product. D…

      • Your abn please

  • Has anyone ever bought from MarketDeals? I haven't heard of them before is it safe?

I bought a portable hard disk from them before (1 or 2 months ago). Great price compared to others, but speed of delivery isnt as good as desired. Took almost a month for my hard disk to arrive.

      • Just reading similar stories in a previous deal - would be nice if the rep could comment as to those problems, were they all eventually sorted?

Also, why the long delays? Do you actually carry stock? As you say you're clearing out the warehouse, one would presume you have all this stuff on hand so there's no reason for lengthy delays.

        • Stock is on hand and we ship via express post within 2 business days of payment. The rest is up to Australia post

At least your order got delivered.
My microsd card order was 'in processing' for months even there was plenty in stock.

    • +1

Stay clear . Never received my order of memory card

  • Thanx op :)

no problems, both are just as good, not many people use password encrytption anyways.

      • bump for tony

Thanks for charging a sensible amount on postage too rep. So many places charge utterly ridiculous rates these days to cover shortfalls and it usually makes what starts off as a good deal pretty well pointless.

  • Can the 2TB portable HDD go into the average laptop? It would be pretty such to get a 2TB paired with a 64-128GB SSD used as a cache.

    • Most WD portables these days are 'welded' to their controller which means you can't take it out and use it in a lappy etc.

    • The 2TB HDD is a non-standard height. It won't fit into a laptop.

I know you will stop answering questions once anyone mentions GST, ABN and Australian Consumer Law.

    • "I know you will stop answering questions once anyone mentions GST, ABN and Australian Consumer Law": Umm, I mentioned consumer law in the 6th post in the thread and the rep hasn't stopped answering questions…

What he meant was the rep won't talk about abn or gst because he isn't registered. Out of curiosity, the people that got their goods, did you receive a tax invoice which showed abn or gst?

        • It's a *.com.au domain. You have to have an ABN in order to get one.

        • Having an ABN doesn't mean you're GST registered, and not providing the ABN makes it difficult to check legitimacy of many things.

        • Oh right.

What does it mean if they're not GST registered? Could a (very) small business be legitimate without registration? Or is the separate ABN and GST registrations entirely for differing business types? Which doesn't make sense to me either since you'd be providing a service…sorry for the stupid questions

If you have turnover of $75,000 or more in a year then you must be GST registered. I suppose it's possible the OP has less than that, but I find it extremely unlikely, especially given that just this deal would have had several thousand dollars worth of turnover in the HDDs alone.

        • Thanks! Link 404ed but now I know where to look.

Hopefully I can get a hold of you here rep. My only ever bad online shopping experience has been with them and I've bought a fair bit of stuff online. I agree, sometimes items can be lost in delivery, but it's how the company deals with it after (refund, good communication etc).

Ordered the 16 GB microSD card and never received it. Which is fine. I can understand something being lost in delivery, it's a probability game. They apparently followed up with AusPost and said they'll get back to me. Nothing. We'll give you a refund, send us your details. Details sent more than a week ago (via website and e-mail), zilch happened. This has dragged on for more than 2 months (May and June) and all this while I have had to call you numerous times to get you to act and follow up my order (11109).

One of the worst buying experiences, thankfully it was only 10 bucks. Lesson learnt - Avoid MarketDeals and pay with Paypal always.

For me it's not one of the worst buying experience.
      It's the worst so far.

    • Exactly same thing happens with me. Never received memory card. Australia posts fault but he have no proof of sending. Avoid this d…

      • Indeed, how could I forget ! OW is a bit far though for me and the convenience of ordering online is sweet :)

        • ow can price-match over the phone :)

There are a relatively high number of unsatisfied buyers.

I too never received an item from a previous deal (purchase made 3-MAY-2013)
The Rep was quick to put all responsibility onto Australia Post. Only to later promise they will chase up the undelivered item with Australia Post
I never herd back, thankfully I got a refund by submitting a transaction dispute to the bank.
The seller responded to that by closing my account. I still to this day have not herd back.

      • A transaction dispute you say ? I might give that a try, thanks !

Is it basically along the lines of 'paid for a product by bank transfer, didn't receive' ? Do the bank need anything else ?

No willingness to publish ABN means no willingness to abide by company rules.

    • +1

If you pay via credit card, some different name comes on your statement.he rip me off with memory card

  • +2

I haven't received my memory card either. Avoid.

I really think that the the rep - who has been visiting but keeping quiet - should comment on these issues. Aus Post can't be to blame for all of this, something else has to be amiss.

  • Just received my WD Elements 2TB portable drive- thanx op :)
