Humax HDR7500T PVR $397 Delivered (Inc Lifetime IceTV & Wireless Dongle)

10

Hi all,

Not sure if this is a mistake, but it certainly allows you to put in in the cart.
Click on link and it shows you 2 different models- 500GB for $399, 1TB for $499, quoting only 2 years IceTV subscription included (and no dongle).

But you click on any of the deals and it links to a page quoting an IceTV lifetime subscription and wireless dongle included for the same price.

So it works out (delivered)-

$397 for the 500GB version, dongle and IceTV for life
$477 for the 1TB version, dongle and IceTV for life

But you go to the store link at top of page and the pricing is $417 for dongle and only 24 months for 500GB, and $517 for the 1TB version (again only 24 months).

Try it and see.
Different sections of the website quoting different offers, but my link definitely works for cheaper pricing and better deal!

Cheapest price on StaticIce is $398 btw… no IceTV subscription, no dongle ;).

It is not lifetime icetv….that is an extra $99.

It is pretty clear the Lifetime Icetv is not included.

    • Wrong. Read what I typed and put it in basket.
It links to a DIFFERENT deal.

Apologies. Your right. I would be very suspect on them honouring the deal though. I suspect a config mistake on their website.

        • I hope they do…. just bought the 1TB version and got a confirmation invoice in an email :).

        • I have the 1Tb. Great device. Only issue i had was the sound. Found out that the issue was the HD channels were defaulting to 5.1 surround. Changed the setting to stereo and it has been a great unit.

Nice deal, although by lifetime, they mean 5 years…

    • Quote from site "Lifetime IceTV is calculated to be the provision of the IceTV service for the working lifetime of the device or 5 years whichever is the lesser"

      • ACCC would be happy to investigate such misleading advertising.

      • 5 years is plenty for this type of tech… 5 years ago I didnt have a bluray player, and in 5 years I would think this type of tech would be out of date and a new smart tv will be in order.

        • I don't think there will be a massive Tech jump in the next 5 years, so I would expect to use my Humax for longer. I don't think there will be a huge rush for 4K TV's.

I find these stand alone PVRs a lot better than the current smart TVs.

        • The Humax is fine and will do the job at least for a few years.

IceTV however needs to reduce pricing to like $10 year. Much of their 'extra' functionality is available elsewhere like Fetchtv etc, and I am sure with the NBN coming to your place soon, we will get plenty more offerings from the likes of Hulu, Netflix etc. Actually will be surprised if IceTV is still here in 5 years, unless they have the sense to morph into something else.

Since the NBN will take 5 years for a lot of people, I guess the 5 years as meaning lifetime (of ICETV) is about right…

Well of course if the libs win, many of us may be on 2mbps ADSL2+ for many more years… ;-)

  • Does this device interface with Foxtel in any way, or are they completely independent?
eg can one record Foxtel with it?

    • i doubt it… foxtel is encrypted, uses a satelite, and uses a smart card, so unless you can figure out where the smart card and satelite plug in, i reckon probably not.

  • Fixed now only bundling 24 months icetv.

Interesting to see if they honour their mistake.

    • ill report back here with results

Just got shipping confirmation and tracking number ;).

I'm surprised this didnt get votes, and disappointed that others may have missed out unfairly.
    Oh well.
