cheaper than eBay and with a 3 month EB guarantee…

  • probably still in Apple warranty too.

    • Doubt it, considering it would've been opened up by EB

      • +3

Released in Sep 2012 so still in warranty for about a month if the sellers bought them that early.

    • refurbished devices only have a 3 month warranty from Apple though I'm sure..?

  • They seem to be charging an extra $20 for the 'unlocked' version ($478 locked, $498 unlocked). Should be able to buy Optus/Telstra locked ones and get them unlocked for free by calling up the respective carriers

if the phone was originally under your account? or you have an account with them?

I bought an iphone 3gs off ebay that was locked to Telstra. rang them and said I was traveling overseas and needed my mobile unlocked. gave them the IMEI and my email. they didn't check if i had a telstra sim or a telstra account (not since 1997). 3 hours later updated the IOS and it was unlocked.

Note OP this is online only.

Here is a whirlpool post regarding EB games refurbished iphone 4S http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1954374
Not sure if this is still relevant a post states that they contacted customer service and asked about the guarantee:
With all of our pre-owned products we do offer our pre-owned Guarantee as part of the purchase. This means that if the item stops working within 3 months of purchase we can offer a replacement or refund of the item. We also offer our 7 day satisfaction return which means that if you are unhappy with the item you can return it to us within 7 days for a full refund.

The 7 day satisfaction return period takes effect from when you receive the item, rather than from purchase to account for the time the item is in transit.

I bought one of the iPad minis when this was on http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/110173 and was a bit nervous due to the later comments on it about horror stories with 'refurbished' items from EB Games, but I've got to say I am very impressed with the iPad.

I may have just got lucky but it came without a scratch, still under warranty until next April, and seemed brand new to me!

One thing that was a bit concerning was that there was no option to choose between black and white, and when I emailed customer support to request the black one, they said they had nothing to do with the warehouse and could not pass on the request. (I got the one I wanted in the end)

Again, I may have been lucky, but I would buy from them again.

  • this is pretty sharp pricing!
I took the plunge and bought an iphone 4 from their last sale and I was extremely impressed with the condition.

took a couple of days to dispatch but definitely worth it with 3 mths warranty thrown in!

  • Just a fair warning to those buying from EB:

Double-check the accessories as well. When I got my iPad through this: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/110173 it took me two replacements to get the 12W iPad adapter. The other times I got an iPod adapter.

    Buy at your own risk.

Bought a refurbished iPhone 4S from EB. Screen was inferior quality to apple because it had been cracked and replaced with a third party screen (confirmed by EB call centre). When looking at a black image, some parts of the screen appear grey. Also small pressure in screen will distort color of screen like pressing on LCD tv.

Posted it back them them and still awaiting a refund.

    • +1

wow if they're replacing parts with third party components its probably worth like $100.

      • +4

Same thing happened to me , got a refund

  • 16g unlocked OOS

Pretty good price for refurbished iPhone 5!
I just bought mine second hand for $550 and had it replaced by Apple :P

As a side note — I HIGHLY recommend you purchase Unlocked because dealing with Optus was huge female dog.

    • What size GB? From where?

  • Bought a 64GB for $600, Bargain!

  • Any free shipping code guys ?

  • Im with Vaya and presume that if I buy the Optus locked versions this will work fine? Any idea if I call up Vaya if they will be able to unlock once purchased?

    • Yes it will work with Vaya.
And you can unlock through the Optus website using your Vaya number.

  • I wish new ones were this cheap xD

  • +3

Optus won't unlock unless you are the original owner.

    Telstra unlock here https://unlock.telstra.com/iphoneunlock/main?execution=e1s1

    Voda unlock here https://unlock.vodafone.com.au/voila/handsetunlock/self-serv…

Works for any non prepaid phone.

    • wouldnt the phones via this deal be classified as 'prepaid'? thinking it may be easier to buy a telstra one and unlock to use on an optus sim if the above is the case?

    • You can get an Optus unlock cheap.

I paid a premium to buy an unlocked iPhone off eBay back in June, used it on TPG, then Vaya, then Amaysim (I change providers a lot..) and had no reason to question that it was unlocked… Got to Canada and cut the 7-11 sim card down only to find out that the phone was in fact locked to Optus.

Lots of stress later, ended up finding this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/121121216694?ssPageName=STRK:MEWN… (was the cheapest at the time, there may be some cheaper now) and my iPhone was unlocked within three hours.

    People still buy iPhones?

Actually, Samsung smartphones outsell Apple's, and they have since Q1 2012. You might like to check your sources before you post nonsense like this.

      http://www.smh.com.au/digital-life/mobiles/samsung-beats-app…

By the way, the weather's pretty good, it's been quite sunny lately.

      • Interesting numbers, sold 10 million more phones but made half as much in profit.
In summary Samsung phones beats iphones but Apple owns Samsung.
FYI: I own both flagship phones.

    • +3

      I like the weather today

edit: the above comment beat me by 3 seconds lololol

    • lol tell us how you really feel

  • Does anyone know if EB refurbished iPhones have new housing on them?

Looks like they are selling off the phones from this promotion: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/104348

The prices seem good for what is promised, but the actual refurbished product is even more dodgy than some no-brand's build quality. I bought a refurbished iPod Touch a while ago for $90, but it was obvious that a screwdriver was used to lever out an old screen, and the new screen was replaced lopsided. Might seem cheap at first, but remember, buy refurbished products at your own risk, especially from EB.

  • +2

all unlocked are sold out….and hesitant to buy the locked ones.

  • +1

Samsung is definitely leading with total numbers of mobile, but samsung has more than 20 different models in its portfolio while apple has only 3 models. Also funny thing is galaxy S3 is selling lower than iPhone 4 in prize, that explains everything. And all unlocked handsets sold on EB is another proof what is more in demand..

Why go through a middle man when you can find people directly on eBay or Gumtree?

Bought one few months ago, broke after 1 week.

  • Why can't everyone just be happy with the phones they have instead of trying to figure out why one is better than the other? For the record, I bought an Xperia Z despite it being 'inferior' as I can change the song I'm listening to whilst in the shower :).

i'd be a bit wary of EB's refurbished stuff.

saw a 4th gen ipod touch in-store. staff opened up the box for me and there were heaps of scratches all over, including the camera lens. the screen looked like it was misaligned with the rest of the ipod and it was covered with a very scratched-up screen protector. not really sure the screen itself wasn't cracked so i didn't buy it.

  • Anyone iorder yet?

  • i purchased the 32gb telstra a few weeks ago when they had the $100 off sale. the phone was in pretty good condition, the only thing was the usb cable and earphones were non-apple and look like they got it on ebay so i threw them away.

i wouldn't hesitate buying from them again though, at least they have warranty for peace of mind.

  • Did anyone get phone call from EBGames? Ask for verify order and send the order confirmation email back to them?
    Thanks.

BTW, after I checked order progress, my order seems hold by EBGames at the moment…Orz
It says "Delivery information not available at this time. Please contact EB Games customer service for more info. "

  • I just receiceved my 64G White unlocked one. The phone is still in good conditions compare with my 3 months old Black one ( you can see the metal underneath the paint now). Power on, the phone is still in iOS 6.0 , Check the warranty from Apple website, shows Expiration Date: September 23, 20132013. So this phone comes from some Apple fanboy, bought from Day 1.
The headphones are not official earpods and no original package. I will contact them try to get one earpods.
    Over all ,not bad.

    • If it was repaired by a non-certified apple repair person.. you can bet the good sunny weather tomorrow that you won't get apple warranty on it. A good hint is if they use cheap china parts instead of official parts, or apparenlty you black iPhone was apparently white iPhone when it was sold by apple

    • Still haven't got mine :(
Mines been stuck on the "Shipment information approved" on auspost tracking for the past 2-3 days..

  • now gone up to $678

Got mine 2 weeks ago. the worst shape of iphone i could imagine - old, countless scratches, countless dents on the edge, cheap dodge charger, cheap dodge earphones. Will never buy refurbished stuff from them again.
