Varta Professional V-Man Power Pack (1800mAh) $9.95 Each + Shipping @ COTD

43

Just received an email from COTD regarding this USB Portable charger. It's $40 upwards at most other stores. Delivery seems to be $6.95 ea, capped at $15.00. So, it should be $16.90 shipped for one.

I also found a favourable review here. And this was the only one I could find.

  • pffft. 1800mah? my battery has got nearly as much capacity than that. i might as well carry around a second battery for my phone.

    • Might be handy for those whose phones don't have removable batteries..

Either way this doesn't seem like good value, when you factor in the $6.95 shipping.

      Would rather this option

  • has a massive 1800 mAh battery, just waiting to juice up your phone, camera, MP3 player or GPS!

This wouldn't even charge a lot of high end phones to 75%. Pretty disgraceful capacity.

    Output: 5V DC, 800mA max

    Rubbish :/

    • 800ma good point. This is rubbish

      • feel sorry for those people who got it thinking this will be enough for extra battery.

I don't think this can even charge a iphone. I thought those need atleast 2A to be able to charge properly.

        • 500mA can charge any phone. The original USB2 spec was 500mA max.
It'll just charge slower than a 1A charger, as long as the phone supports fast charging.

        • not so sure about that? I bought a 500mA charger off ebay, $11 delivered and it would not charge an iPhone 4s or 5…

got pissed off after that experience so bought a proper device which I am happy with, this charges my iphone 5 three times flat to full.

thinking about upgrading to the 10000mAh one now.

      • 800mA? it's close to 1A which is quite a standard charger… most wall chargers charge at 1000mA… i think you're confusing mA (charge rate) with capacity

  • I got this varta v man professtional home station http://m.dicksmith.co.nz/home-appliances/varta-v-man-profess…

for $15 during DSE clearance sale
I did not post if because very limited stock.

The link is DSE NZ as that item is not on DSE AU website anymore.

  • Couldn't decide whether to +ve or -ve.

This really is a pretty low-spec'ed power pack. As others have said, not much capacity at 1800mAH, and the 800mA output current is pretty low too. However for a brand you can trust, this is an ok if you know what you are buying.

This deal is so bad…it should just be deleted.
