Currently I'm watching Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Doogie Howser, Little Mosque and the Awesomes.

The wife is watching a lot of anime on there too.

When the new US shows come up, all the networks that participate put the shows up at midnight (US time) where as Netflix you have to wait until the DVD releases if not longer for th same content.

Hulu and Netflix complement each other quite well.

      • Thanks, that's informative. I'll explore more.

If you cancel they remove the whole sub which is annoying, the free netflix you can cancel and it'll keep going. Is there a way to cancel the card info and still get the 2 months or not? Also WTF is up with these ads?

  • Won't work with my Westpac credit card :( Though it did work with Netflix recently

I haven't needed to use VPN either for signing up like Netflix - maybe I should do that

Edit: Working now… weird, tried Ccard, didn't work, tried paypal (knowing it wouldnt work) didn't work, tried Ccard again, worked!

  • Thanks for so much great info on altenate options to foxtel.
Can anyone tell me what is a reasonal internet data plan needed for using hulu or netflix? We currently have bigpond ultimate 200gb and never reached over half of it.

You probably shouldn't have a problem then.

  • Beware Optus broadband customers
I have Optus cable and during peak periods I cannot stream from Hulu or Netflix due to their very poor and well documented International bandwith issues (see Whirlpool)
Try using this through a free DNS service like Tunlr first before committing your $'s to something that may be unusable when you actually have time to use it.

  • is there something like Hulu in australia?

    • Nope

Quickflix are getting there but they're nowhere near there yet

  • can someone tell me what speeds this gets?

I have XBMC on pc and apple devices but the thing just lags and slow like hell half the time

I have a 100mbit cable connection OPTUS as well

Going through a VPN would be very slow right?

How can you possibly watch HD content? and What are the buffer times like?

    thanks

I use unotelly and it's not routed through a VPN, it's a DNS change in your device or router settings. I usually get HD content on netflix, but every now and then it's cuts back a bit from HD, but I think this has to do with my Internet provider, they've been struggling to cope lately during peak times. If you have a true 100 mb/sec connection there should be no issues. I don't think your connection could be that fast if you're having issues. Have you done a speedtest to check it?

I watched Hulu last night and it was pretty much HD quality except for one point where it buffered. I think my provider is at fault there.

    • Not sure about Hulu, but Netflix only apply region restrictions on the website. The videos themselves come from a CDN with no region restrictions at all. Because of this, most proxying services designed for sites like Netflix and Hulu only proxy the website, the video is still a direct connection.

  • For those signing up for a further 1 month of unotelly to access HULU, 50% off discount code is:
    IHEARTNETFLIX
