      I never heard ASUS Laptop outsource to Acer.
      But I am sure their components have huge different on quality, especially on higher model.

the hard drive is a poor hybrid
win 8 boot is 14-16 seconds
the hard drive rates 5.7 where a usual crappy drive normally rates 5.9 on windows experience
