  • Good price if you want something a little nicer.
But the $5 per ticket online booking fee has always p-$$-d me off!

    • With Gold class you can actually ring up and book for no charge (which is totally illogical, I know).

      • "Please note online and call centre bookings incur a $5 booking fee"

        How????

      • Correct, goldclass and/or vmc card holders do incur booking fees

        • Well the discrepancy may be that we always use Gold Class "vouchers" and my girlfriend just confirmed we have never been charged a booking fee for any bookings over the phone using these. Apparently online is the same too.

I don't know if what you end up with from this deal is classified as a voucher which you can use in the same way. The vouchers have a scratch-off section with a PIN code underneath.

        • No, definitely not giving you any discount on booking through this VMC deal. Still charging the $5.oo!

    • Online booking fees have always pissed me off. Why charge a booking fee for a computer to do a little bit of work!

Didn't you know how poor cinemas are?

They don't make any money off the movies they show (it pays the rent, wages and keeps the lights on).

The money is in the games machines and candy bar and that's why the prices are so extortionate.

If you pre buy your ticket then you don't need to get there early and are less likely to buy their overpriced crap, hence the online booking fee.

Don't know how this mind set works with gold class since most people get meals, but basically cinemas are scumbags that see $$$ and nothing else.

    • At least you can bring your own drinks and snacks in nowadays!

      • That's why I put in a home theater at home … haven't had the urge to see a movie in a commercial cinema for years :P

      • Village cinemas introduced a NO Outside food and beverage policy on August 1st, and i have been to Glen Waverley and Knox and both places were checking bags for food and drinks when u showed your ticket. So sadly you can not. My mate told me Hoyts also check now too

          Well that just sucks!!!
If I ever happen to go into one again I'll have to make sure that I take in the same stuff that they sell!

How rude to do a bag search looking for food. They aught to be ashamed of themselves.

        • I went to doncaster village end of August and did not have any problems with bringing in a bag full of candy and drinks. Bag was in plain sight and was the coles/woolies bag so there was no mistaking.

or … drop by the cinema a few days before .. you can book it there …

  • I've booked plenty of gold class over the phone using pre-paid vouchers and never been charged any booking fees.

maybe you will be if you're also paying over the phone and not using a voucher.

There's a reason gold class tickets are cheap right now…there are no movies playing that are worth seeing…

  • Ok so am i wrong, but the way i read the deal is that it is a $19 upgrade plus the standard ticket fee?

    • It's just $19 for the ticket, not an upgrade. You have to pay a booking fee if you book online or over the phone and a surcharge if you watch a movie in 3d.

If you don't pre book and watch a 2d movie then it's $19 per ticket.

This "offer" covers a whopping 14 days of movie screenings when there's little to nothing worth watching. neg from me.

    • +1

Negged because you don't like the movies that are on?

Why do you think they are doing $19 tickets?

    • +2

Do you also neg Coles or Woolies when they have specials on cola coz you're a sparkling mineral water drinker?

    • Now You See Me is a decent movie, and slightly less so but still decent, Elysium.

  • Was anyone able to claim this offer without having been sent the email?
When I called I was told it was a targeted offer and would only be available on the accounts of members who had received the email.
