How many bricks & mortar stores does a company need in order to qualify as one?

        • +1

the point im making is if i had a problem with my device, i can get to a jbhifi much quicker than going to wireless1 and that will be true for many other people

sorry i thought i typed stores, not company

        • How many bricks & mortar stores does a company need in order to qualify as one?

I think they need to at least be present in every state.

If I'm in Perth and they're in QLD, then for all intents and purposes, to me they are not a B&M store.

        • After the election perth will be independent and is a country of its own.

        • Just Perth or WA as a whole?

      • all items mentioned above are $10 off for pickup?

        • +2

          Hi Blugok,

Yes, will do $10 off when you pick up and mention OZbarain. =)

          Thanks,

My experience…. I hope it is just me. My luck of getting an IPS LCD device with bad/dead/bright/defective pixel is about 50%. The chance increases to 60% for high-def / retina display. I was so fed up with multiple iPad 4's with dead pixels that I decided to never get an iPad 4.

My first Nexus 7 2013 has a dead pixel in it. However, the store was nice and they replaced it with a brand new one (they actually told me it is not a dead pixel but something stuck inside.

It is not actually Apple or Google's fault, but the panel makers DO release panels with dead pixel(s). If you cannot stand defective pixel like me, it is best to buy it from a physical store near you.

To me, $1 or even $10 more is not an issue IF the store has a good after sales service on dead pixels.

    • Dont know how many Nexus 7's are plagued by this but it suddenly feels like an epidemic.

      • +1

Probably just me. Every time I purchase anything that has an IPS screen, I know my luck.

      • I had no idea about IPS having dead pixel problems. I remember when the first LCD tv/monitors came out and I just couldnt justify the money because of the dead pixel risk.
Cant believe we are back to that again.

    • Hi netsurfer,

If there's any case like that with the screen, we will definitely try our best to attend to the matter and make sure it's resolved for our customer, regardless buying in store or online.

    • It is not actually Apple or Google's fault, but the panel makers DO release panels with dead pixel(s).

That is not true in Nexus 7's case. As per Anandtech's article, the screen is calibrated twice before packaging - sufficient to bin the part if they wanted to.

      • How about Apple? I bought an iPad 4 - dead pixel. Exchanged for another iPad 4 - ANOTHER one with dead pixel. That was 2 out of 2.

I am not blaming Apple or Google because I've had dead pixel issues with Dell as well (IPS monitor) and a cheapy brand tablet.

The thing I don't get is, I am paying more for IPS and yet it is plagues by dead pixel issue. IPS makers continue to release them, even to their top tier customers (Apple, Google, Dell).

      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/115242

    • $399 is the best price around easily, unless you price match like below.

Harvey/JB/Telstra/Optus etc usually charge $567-$700 for this phone.

  • Hi Rep,

      • Hi David,

Won't be able to pick it up till the weekend, is the sale still on this Saturday?

        • Hi allstars091.

This promote is for 48 hours only. And the Nexus 7 has only limited stock, we don't think they will last til the weekend.

If you are planning to pick it up in store over the weekend, I suggest you order online now so we can have it reserved for you.
