I think kid cannot take the phone into HSC.

I don't think the kid is old enough to be in the HSC judging by the remarkable logic we just witnessed

Good for uni students to get as a back up. This is the only approved calculator for exams at quite a few Unis.

  • Ummmmm mods, whats going on with the vote buttons- I just +'d two comments and it negged them instead.

You can probably get a free app for a phone to do the same functions. The end of the calculator, but for exams you probably need one of these.

The non-Plus version of this got me through 5 years of High School and 5 years of Electrical Engineering. For $20 it is a definite bargain for 10 years of day in day out usage.

    • How did you get through electrical engineering, with a calculator that doesn't appear to have complex number calculations? Did you do the complex numbers in parts?

      • +1

You do the complex numbers in your head :)

      • It does have complex numbers! It is a bit of a work around, so I usually just did them with pen and paper - but it supports complex numbers and converts them to polar for you too :)

    • Gecko I totally agree I use the plus version at uni to facilitate student units for stats and its a great bit of gear year in year out
Builds every formula and calculates all in one hit

      best $20 I ever spent on a calculator (and I own 4 or 5)

Looks like this is a run-out of the old model.
Officeworks lists this calculator for $34.86:
    http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Office-Supplie…

And the "NEW Casio FX82AUPLUSII" for $39.95:
    http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Office-Supplie…

If your local OfficeWorks has stock of the older model, get them to pricematch, and their 5% better policy means you'll be paying $19 instead.

For me, at least, OfficeWorks is a lot closer than BigW. Probably true for some other people too.

    • wonder what the difference is

      • +1

The fx-82AUPLUS II will have logic statements, i.e input sin(30) = 1/2 and it will return with "TRUE". It also does modulo arithmetic, median/Q1/Q3 for 5 number summaries etc.

Also there's a fx-100AUPLUS that will do complex numbers.

Using a calculator i worked out the difference and i helieve its $1 cheaper at officeworks

    • OfficeWorks has the black one only while this $20 at Big W is white. I can't find any white one at OfficeWorks. Some Officeworks staff may be picky to state they are not an identical model. Big W black one is $34.75.

Casio fx-6600 (the one with graph) is the bomb during my time. I even impressed a girl by graphing a heart…seriously.

  • Thanks OP. This was just the bargain I needed!

  • The linked page is reading $39 for me. By my calculations that is… too expensive!

    • and you comment a month after it's posted…..

      • hah… oops. i saw it on the right and thought it was in the 'new deals' section. didn't look at the date.
