Pokémon X & Y - $44 at Big W

1000

There's not much that needs to be said. Pokémon X & Y will be $44 (each) at Big W on release (12th of October). Price is listed in the latest Big W catalogue "for a limited time".

Easily the best price for the 3DS's biggest title this year, especially for Australian stock. Next cheapest is Target's price of $49: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/116695

Ozgameshop has it for $53, JB has it for $54 and EB Games for $59.

Edit: The promotion lasts from October 10th - 16th.

    Hopefully EB will price match.

  • +11

    EB Games is so cute.

  • +2

EB games say they will price match if another retailer(brick and mortar) offers cheaper. Plus you get pokemon ball bonus.

    • +1

Technically they don't normally give you the pre-order bonus if you price match.
      Some do, some don't.

      • +2

you can get the bonus, walk out of the store, then walk back in and match the difference.

        • Truly an ozbargainer

        • I suppose you can try that, for sure.

  • damn got it at target. when did AU 3ds games go so cheap?!

  • +1

Please edit Ebgames price. They dropped it to $59,95 which is better but not as cheap as the other retailers.

  • +13

Its weird how BigW and Target keep constantly doing better deals then EB, yet u guys keep supporting EB with price match. Esp. when they scammed people by saying wouldn't price match GTA5 at midnight launches at most stores.

    • +2

It's the "carrots" they are after I suppose, and the fact that you can return the copy within 7 days if you realised you don't like the game.

      • Last time I price matched a game there, they said they wouldn't do returns on it.

        • against the law.

    • Supporting them with price matches? They lose money on them price matches. If you want pay back for their "scam" then price match to cause them to lose money.

      • Please, if anything they are simply making slightly less money. If anything that profit could of gone to the original store.

      • They just getting below profit margin.

  • Will JB Hi-Fi pricematch Big W's price?

    • They have in the past

Anyone else notice Ozgameshops prices have not been that good as of late? been finding cheaper prices for games located in Australia

      • +2

Not really 'as of late', it's been like that for several months now. I don't even remember when was the last time I shopped from there.

      • +2

Ever since they launched their re-designed website their prices have been pretty crap. I think they might've sold the site to another company who just use a generic branded template.

        • +3

Been pretty crap for at least 6 months.

  • does anyone think I can pricematch with target as I've already preordered with a $5 deposit ($49) (I'm a bit too lazy to go to target to cancel and then drive to big w!)

    • Yeah you should be fine to do so.

  • so can you price match at eb games and get the pokeball thing?

    • +1

I think it's up to the manager.

    • +1

I've gone to the EB games at Melbourne Central and they still give the pre-order gift after price matching to target.
I ended up pre-ordering at Keysborough Parkmore and they also give the pre-order gift. Seems like they will give you the gift, at least from those two EB stores =)

      • thx fellas

  • Are you kidding me… Just preorder from Target a few minutes before this post…

    • Price match it when you pick it up. I'm going to.

      • You sure Target will price match?

    • I pre-ordered on Saturday… Damnit!

I even had the thought after I'd done it, what if someone either breaks date or does it cheaper.

Guess I'll go cancel my Target pre-order, since Big W is actually closer to my house on Saturday.

  • +3

The promotion lasts from October 10th - 16th. Should definitely update the description.

  • Is EB still doing the Pokeball preorder bonus? I cant see it on the site and I didn't get a chance to ask my local (hornsby) store

    • Well I was at Westfield Burwood, NSW and the EB still had the promo on today.

      • oh really? nice, heard people were price matching and getting the bonus might have a try then. although won't get my hopes up.

  • So EB will price match? I've already paid the full amount($59.95), also were you meant to get the pokeball from EB when you pre-ordered? because I got nothing from them except a receipt.

    • Yeah I got nothing either, then a few days later they had a sign up on the pokemon thing saying the pokeball was sold out -_- sigh.

      • I went into EB(Liverpool Westfields) today and the manager there said you get the pre-order gift when you pick up the game.

  • Anyone know where the cheapest 3DS XL (regular edition) can be found?

    • JB Hifi has it for $238 which is decent, but I think EB games has a promo for a free game or two right now.

    • +2

at the moment it is $229 at target. you can get the original colours or even the limited edition x and y colour

  • +2

    Thanks OP
I am not a gamer but I can feel it this is a great deal.
    Cheers

    • It's seriously impressive how cheap new release games are getting here. Finally getting some pressure from having too many people importing I guess.

  • Can you pre-order for this price or order online or is it go to store and hope there is stock?

  • You guys must have the nicest EB Games near you, because I rang up both World Square and Rockdale and they said they don't price match on pre-orders.

Guess i'm waking up at 7am this Saturday to buy a cheap copy of Pokemon…i've lost control of my life.

    • Eh, my EB Games tried to pull that one on me for the Pokemon 3DS XL when I tried matching against JB Hi Fi (at the time Target's even lower price wasn't available), citing that the limited edition console was exclusive to EB. Felt so good to quash that excuse.

  • EB Games, Rundle Mall Adelaide will not price match. They told me that since this offer is only for pre orders they can't price match. I did not know at the time that this deal lasts 4 days even after release (12th to 16th) so i'm gonna ask again tomorrow to check if they will price match.

    • +1

Don't bother asking. Just get them to price match when it comes out. Of course they will price match, it's not a choice, as long as there is a Big W within the area they are obliged to due to their claims of price matching.

      They never match pre-order prices.

      • Went to the City Cross EB games store just don the street. The person who worked there said that i can preorder and price match on the release date. And he said i will be getting the preorder bonus as well!

So i did preorder, hopefully they will price match.

      • They matched it at Menai EBgames in Sydney for me today

        • Same here, Went to collect my preorder at EB Games City Cross Adelaide and they price matched it with BigW's price. Didn't get the pre-order bonus though, the sales person told me i preordered after the preorder bonuses were shipped. But hey who am I to complain, got the game for $44!!!

  • My local Target pulled the same excuse. No price matching on pre-orders. Oh well.

  • +4

Seriously the day when i get games from EB is when Big W, Target, DSE and Jbhifi shuts down!

  • Jbhifi guy said to just preorder for $10 now and to tell him about the $44 price match on the day and he'll put it in.

    Ebgames refused. Those guys suck

    • mine said exactly what your jbhifi guy said, pay the rest with price match but mine was at EBGames

  • Wonder how much stock they'll have…. might be worth trying to price match a pre order?

EDIT: although i guess can wait, might wait until after final exams to buy :S though i doubt it'll go much cheaper, seeing the prices for Black/White/2 are all inflated now.

    • I wouldn't wait honestly. Just buy it now and play when you can. They should have plenty of stock.

  • For anyone in VIC the Kmart at Campbellfield is 24hrs so you can go in and pickup the game at midnight, they should price match Big W if you show them the catalogue

  • As of today, i preordered mine at ebgames, i only deposited $10 and on release date, mention the Big W has it for $44 and you just pay the rest

  • Just purchased Pokemon X and a 2DS from Ebgames after price matching. Only because bigw apparently doesn't Preorder games or consoles in store. So went straight to EB, told them bigw's prices and they price matched

  • Big W finally updated their site. You can order it for pay and collect for $44. Just hope they have it ready this weekend.

  • If I had it preordered at EB Games, could I cancel that and get my money back or will I just get store credit?

  • +1

    http://imgur.com/MBjJFe3
Got the Preorder bonus from EB after asking the employee. Price matched with bigw

    • Good work! That Pokeball looks really good.

  • My friend could only get it down to $50, he took it as he had to start work and did not want to be late. Only $6 difference.

  • +1

Got it price matched at Target Perth with my preorder. Although it took a lot of negotiating as the sales staff initially said Target don't price match software. Upon speaking to the manager all was well. Yay just caught a pikachu.

    • Pokemon Amie with Pikachu…its just too adorable! <3

  • I casually walked into Kmart at midnight and was met with no lines and plenty of stock at $45 each. Personally that was easily the best place to buy it.
