Looks like a good deal, not sure what the store reputation is. Kogan is $609 + $22.99 shipping for 32GB, and $579 + $22.99 shipping for 16GB version.

Is this compatible with Australian 4g bands?

    • +2

Yes, it got LTE1800 which Telstra and Optus are using.

  • Are they based in Aus? Never heard of them.

    • I think they are, these are their phone no listed on the website. NSW 02 8005 7891 or VIC 03 9018 5439.

Also first time I heard of them, saw the advert when surfing thru ebay.

As per their Terms & Conditions:

In other words, just another, dime-a-dozen, direct import agent - all care, no responsibility.

Just next year new LG phones will have a drop-proof screens. There should be a huge drop in price on old models that can crack easily.

Rumours are that this is pretty close the Nexus 5, I'd suggest waiting on that as it will hopefully be a bit cheaper.

  • The website lists ABN , after I searched it, it comes up as a "DIGITAL SKIES SERVICES PTY LTD", however after searching that, the following site comes up: http://www.camerasky.com.au/terms-condition

Kind of dodgy, looks like they may have "borrowed" the ABN of camerasky? The only way it is possible they didn't is if it's the same company. They do list the same phone number, but maybe that's just so you feel safer into assuming they do have an Australian base for contact if any issues arise.

I would be wary of a scam. Lots of phony android sites out there. I've just emailed camerasky and asked if they are in any way related.

Edit: appears camerasky's facebook links to android-enjoyed, so they must be related. I'm still a bit sceptical.

According to the engadget review, this phone is rubbish. I was considering it because of the battery but apparently the it doesn't get much more than the s4 does it off its smaller battery, but of a shame. If they are wrong though, I'd finely like to know

Every LG G2 review I've read has done nothing but praise the phone, some have even called it the greatest Android phone.

I think Gizmodo AU rated the phone as pretty useless UI, Phonearena and The Verge rated it pretty good, nothing too bad about the UI.

Common -ve is no microsd card slot, tiny speakerphone although headphone is quite good.

Common +ve is huge beautiful screen, OIS Camera, and it can record FHD video at 60fps.

I am looking for my next phone, this is one of the phone being considered.

        • Sometimes I don't mine being an early adopter, this time I will have to wait and see what people think if it. Currently the front runner for a replacement of my S3 is the new HTC One, just cause I have two friends that own it and love it.

I wonder what custom ROMs are out for the LG G2, that might make a different. goes to google

        • The downside to the HTC One is the battery life. Even with ARHD it doesn't survive a solid day's use for me. It's worse than my iPhone 5. If it weren't for Sense, i'd buy one of these LGs (am a sucker for a good IPS panel and a massive battery).

        • That's odd, my mates day the one had great battery life, different usage I suppose. Doesn't have wireless charging either

  • I don't understand why this phone is going for cheap. I get that the Nexus 5 will be out soon and it looks to be pretty similar but i am wondering if there are issues with it? Did the rear button layout scare away customers and people are stuck with stock?

I think this phone is a great compromise between a phone and a tablet and after being an Apple user and trying Android once or twice along the way, i am apprehensive about taking the plunge.

  • Until cyanogenmod comes out with a ROM for this phone (or one of the other big ones) I'll give it a miss I think. On the upside, when one does come out the price will probably have dropped further.
