  • Only two games I want, the new resident evil and devil may cry but both are still above $15. Anyone know where to get these games any cheaper or are we likely to see a cheaper cost at Christmas steam sales?

Plants vs zombies for 2.50 aren't to bad. Big collection there for this sale. 1 more thing, games like the sims 3, are these able to be activated via origin engine.

    • My mistake, saw the wrong one, thought I saw it for 6.79

      • They rebooted the series and called the one after 4 DMC: Devil May Cry

    • +3

you must be missed the Capcom publisher deals on steam before aye? both RE and DmC were 75% off

    • Buy them if you don't have enough games to last you until the steam holiday sale (after christmas), otherwise wait. They should be this price or cheaper.

Hopefully not too late to post this:

Chrome users can get an extensions called: Enhanced Steam. It'll tell you the lowest prices around, its historical lows and a bunch of other useful stuff such as metacritic scores and DRM if theres any. Chrome store link

      Or alternatively: IsThereAnyDeal.com

The Swapper is my recommendation for this sale.

I bought The Swapper, Brothers, Costume Quest, The Void, The Next Big Thing and Mutant Blobs Attack

I reckon bioshock, sleeping dogs and fallout new vegas are pretty good value.

  • Giana Sisters, ooh scary!

    • +1

Hehe, yeah I know, right. But they did just release some free Halloween-themed DLC, so it's probably something to do with that.

      • It also took me a while to figure out why Sleeping Dogs was there.

        Halloween DLC. Bam.

        • I only got about 2 hours in to Sleeping Dogs and was starting to think there was some "From Dusk to Dawn" style twist in it.

  • The Typing of The Dead game could be worth a look - I played the first one through and it was plenty of fun.

    • +1

Does it actually help you learn to touch type? I've been using computers for 20 years and still look down quite a bit, never learned to touch type properly…

      • Me too…

        • +1

Yes, pretty much. The original was a rework of the House of the Dead, where instead of shooting the zombies, you had to type the words and phrases that appear in front of each one. As you type, the bullets fly and the zombies flinch and die. You have to type quickly and accurately to get through the levels, and the rising pace makes it impossible not to learn to touch type.

    • +1 that. got it off gmg though as it's a bit cheaper @ USD9.99

      • +1

I know this might be a little late but GMG has a 20% off coupon, which gets TotD:O down to $8.

  • 11th hour, damn that takes me back.
Are there modern games similar to this kind of puzzle/investigater game?
Things like the text murphy series, zork and 11th hour

    • +4

Perhaps look at Puzzle Agent or Professor Layton. The problem is this type of random puzzle doesn't actually work well for holding up a story or consistant gameplay, so you might find going back to these games not so fun.

On the less Arbitrary-Puzzle side have a look at Tell Tale games such as Sam & Max and Back to the Future.

Well this is your lucky day(ish), because some of the original Tex Murphy people are making a new TM adventure game! http://www.texmurphy.com/
It was crowdfunded on kickstarter - I personally didn't fund it & don't know all the details but that site or this one should give you a better idea - http://www.bigfinishgames.com/

There are also heaps of adventure games both old and new on GoG - http://www.gog.com/

If you were into the Myst / Riven series, some of the old team are getting the band back together for a new game in a similar style and THEY NEED YOUR HELP(tm) - the kickstarter project is still going. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cyaninc/obduction

Public Adventure Games Service Announcement over.

Holy crap those are a lot of titles on sale, even titles that have nothing to do with Halloween, but you won't hear me complain.
I need to browse through that list a few times i reckon.

I would give Ghost Master a try btw for $1,24 usd if you liked the Dungeon Keeper games and Evil Genius.

  • Nice…can pick up Nazi Zombie cheap. Now if only I had someone to play it CO-OP with :|

Oh and Deadlight is a good game.

  • +2

I like the pricing scheme on the Dead Space pack. http://store.steampowered.com/sub/8672/
Combined price of individual games: $8.73 USD
    Bundle cost: $21.24 USD

Probably best if you buy them separately, people :)

    • What the crap? Why is it so expensive? Am I missing something that should be blatantly obvious?

      • Sometimes they don't discount bundles properly when the games in them go on sale. Happens all the time. Just be careful and do the maths before you fork over the cash.

        • They also frequently apply the Australia tax differently on different listings.

      • Dead Space 2 was previously price gouged at $69.99 USD (Americans had it for $19.99 USD), and the pack reflected this (weirdly enough Dead Space 1 was the complete opposite at $14.99 USD while Americans had it at $19.99 USD). When Dead Space 2 finally had the Australia tax removed, the Dead Space Pack didn't.

I'm using normal prices btw, not the discounted ones.

  • A very good price for Outlast; especially given it was released last month. Has anyone played it? Does it live up to the hype?

    • Yep Outcast is a good price considering its only just been released. I've heard it's great and will give it a go at that price

    • +1

I've played it. This game has loads of atmosphere and gore. There were many tense moments in the game where I feared being caught and killed. Quite a few things made me jump too. I think it's worth the money, especially at that price. As long as you're into the horror genre.

  • seems like a good price for Darksiders 2 at $10.

    • It does but the game was in the recent humble bundle, great game I must say. Although the first game of the series was a lot better.

  • Yes, I can finally afford Gotham City Imposters: Free to Play! $7.49, bargain!

  • I didn't see it come by on the main featured sale page but the Left 4 Dead titles are also on sale. $4.99 usd

  • +3

If anyone's looking at getting Typing of the Dead, you can get it slightly cheaper at GreenMan Gaming with the 25% off code: GMG20-50Z66-SCTEU

Ends up being about $8 USD.

  • Thanks very much! Grabbed typing of the dead!

  • I picked up Brothers-A Tale of Two Sons off a GMG sale a few days ago and it's the same price here. It's a great game and well worth it for the storyline!

  • I noticed Left 4 Dead 2 was added today for $5. Now to figure out a way to acquire the uncensored version?
