Beats By Dre Studio Headphones $199

160

This is a pretty good deal considering they're usually $399 at the other major retailers. (JB etc.)

If I could just borrow a quote from the timeless poet, the Budweiser frogs.

    'Senn', 'Hei', 'Ser'.

Beats are overpriced and average, get good headphones from a headphone manufacturer. Not well marketed headphones from a Rapper/Producer who gets someone to build him headphones to sell.

What's the point if no one stares at you on the train?

Bet you didn't factor that in did you…

      • +2

        AKG 1000 - they'll be staring alright.

    • +3

I ll say they're decent NC headphones at this price.

The most daring post of the week :)

  • Torn by posts for Beats… is it true to the OzBargain code to buy overpriced items like this even if they're marked down? $200 is still a rip-off for what you get if the name means nothing to you.

    • would think so

if an individual want to hunt down a high RRP item
the name does/must mean something to the said individual who would go and purchase these

as such do not judge people seeking to buy what you would not but help them seek it at a cheaper price =)

  • This product has been parallel imported

officeworks is not an authorised retailer (according to beats website)
    http://au.beatsbydre.com/support/authorized-retailers,en_AU,…

Your Beats product is warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of original retail purchase from an authorized Beats dealer

Those things are covered for at least a year under Australian consumer law anyway so I doubt you would have too much trouble with a replacement from Officeworks.

    • Im not sure whats going on with the website, if its updated or not.

Costco Docklands had around 200 pairs of mixed colours for $219.99 last week.. but it could be imported too?

regardless if they are overpriced or not, this is genuinely a good deal, compared to other retailers.

and for $199, they are good headphones, I'm not a fan myself, but these are going to be great christmas presents for teenagers, and for them its about the bass & looks, not the clarity of the sound.

Huh???? get the "REAL" good headphones ATH-M50 for less than $199

      • -2

ATH-M50 don't have active noise cancelling. At $199 Studios are great for plane rides, extremely comfortable and decent noise cancelling.

  • +3

Better off saving the money for better headphones or a deposit for your own home (if you live in Sydney)

  • All the retailers (Harvey Norman, DSE, JB etc.) are clearing out old stock to make way for the revised/new Studio's.

Anyhow, $138 (TGG) will get you a pair of far superior Logitech UE6000's.

    • Keen to see reviews for the new, non-Monster manufactured Beats.

  • Also worth noting these are the old Studios (not the ones with inbuilt rechargeable battery and automatic off) but still a good price. I agree that at $199 they're a decent pair of headphones given I paid $250 for mine and I'm pretty happy.

  • Sound is poor, looks are even worse

    • Sound is acceptable at this price, looks are subjective.

    Your logic is flawed.

Do people know that wearing these make them look like gullible fools? And just not care what those over-educated elitist clever-dicks think? Or like kids who wear horrible stuff just to annoy their parents?
Do beats mark you as a proud member of the anti-intellectual tribe?

Wow, Beats deal is coming back! Still watching comments only.

Even though they are Beats, this is actually a pretty good price for active noise cancellation headphones

disregarding all the pet hate, i swap between these and my seinheisser cx300II headphones alot depending on reason of commutes.

    Comparisons:
    Beats:
    - $199 to $399
    - Heavy Bass
    - Comfortable, soft padding
    - that's about it
    - negatives include requiring batteries (2x AA), flimsy battery cover which can break easily, and idiots think that only douches wear them.

    Seinheisser CX300II:
    - $69 - $89
    - Crisp sound - amazing
    - Comfortable if you dont mind in-ear technology
    - Went in the wash 4x thanks to my partner… BUT IT SURVIVED ALL 4 TIMES!!!
    - Negatives include easily removable ear buds which you can lose and will have to buy extras…

All in all Beats arent as bad as everyone says, i quite like it and as written i do swap between these and my seinheissers. I'd still give the win to Seinheisser products at the end of the day due to quality and price. If you can get Beats for a decent price then i'd recommend giving it a go, i bought mine brand new for $150 from a work friend.

Hope this post helps rather than reading all the other idiot "i hate beats" and 13yo arguments :)

    • Using CX300II atm, they sure are great. Had them for yearrrssssss.

At $150 I think your friend sold you fake Beats, don't worry, they often sound better than the real ones. Well my fakes do, in my opinion.

      • Haha nah i confirmed they were real Beats - they only costed $150 because he got them as a gift and he already had a pair himself. So he decided to sell it to me and i felt bad so i said i'd buy it for 150 :)

    • negatives include requiring batteries

Be fair. All noise-cancelling headphones require batteries.
