Saving money via iTune in-app purchases

I've been putting a couple of ads on gumtree, and have paid for top spot.
At the moment, they are charging $9.95 a week for this luxury.

I noticed yesterday, that I could also purchase the top ad spot for $9.49 via the gumtree app on my iPhone.

Whoa 50c I hear you say, but couple that with discount itune vouchers and more savings can be made.

Are there any other apps where savings can be made, by using the app for purchases?

  • That's pretty cool, if you managed to get the 2 for 1 iTunes cards and would have used the rest of your iTunes credit.

  • Magazines via the Newsstand? I consistently save 50% on those by buying my iTunes during the Harvey Norman B1G1F deals.

  • I used to buy comics on Comixology using discounted itunes credit.

  • Putting gumtree ads to the front page how well does that work?

    • +1

It's probably just me, but I tend to ignore at the top or paid ads. I don't know why but they seem like less appealing to approach. Maybe I'm just crazy lol

    • I used to delete the ad and repost everyday. The amount of calls I get from being on top would be 5-10 times more than normal.

It just depends on the category, if you are selling an item ie car, mobile phone you will go from page 1 to page 10 in 1/2 a day, I believe most people won't bother clicking all the pages to find someone 12 pages deep.

The ads appear just as normal, but always on the first few pages ie if 20 people are paying for the top, you all can't be on the first page.

If it cost you $10 extra and you sell your item, money well spent.
