  • What kind of drive is inside?

    • +35

      hard drive

    • +3

      I'd say a 3.5" SATA HDD.

    • +1

      mine is Seagate 3TB 7200rpm

    • +10

Either Seagate ST3000DM001 or Western Digital WD30EZRX
      http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1940901

      • Thanks!

      • -2

Hope getting Seagate instead of notorious WD Green, but given the price I can not really complain either way

  • +5

Oh nooooooo. this isnt happening, just bought seagate for $139!!!!!!

  • I actually need one of these but have no clue about them..is this a good deal, for a mac? Also, is this Australian stock or grey import?

  • Will this one work if i plug it to a smart tv or a blue-ray player?

    • +1

Max 2tb in my smart TV. Check your manual for sure.

      • I thought even TV's could see 2 volumes at 1.5TB each?

      • Thanks. Will check that.

  • Lol awesome. Was looking at this exact model the other day. Excellent price, cheers op

  • Bought one. Thanks!

  • Thanks OP, bought one.

  • Thanks bought one :)

  • Cheers, purchased.

  • LOL ozbargained!

  • Yes! Thanks in advance. This is the best purchase that I've ever made in a month. I swear I saw Amazon selling this hard drive for $150-ish.

  • Thanks OP, bought a pair.

  • Yep ,, finally bought one…

  • Thanks OP. Great bargain on great time

  • Thanks bought one.

  • Was after 2x4TB drives but this price for 3TB is too good to pass on.

    Thanks OP.

  • Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks! :)

  • Got one thx~~~

  • Fantastic! Was just looking for an external hard drive today.

  • My only concern is that is says very limited stock and this deal has at least sold a few 100 already :S. Hope my order isn't cancelled tomorrow

  • I wish these come with esata…. my computer's usb3 gets real flaky and would drop out during a long transfer, and after googling it seems to be a windows thing. Esata would be so much better.

    • Try teracopy - it should cope with a flaky connection.

  • expired boys and girls..

  • Damn missed! I got 2 of these at home & I reckon these are way better than ext WD HDDs.

    • They probably are WD Drive…

  • was this portable or did it require a power supply…either way, seems i missed out! :(

    • 3.5" requires a power cable(included of course) 2.5" are the ones without external power.

  • Gadget City are AWESOME, have the best customer service around! have had some GREAT previous deals

    • I've been using one for almost 12 months with a wdtv live. Never skipped a beat, no problems. Even if you don't use it as an ext hdd, 109 for the internal is a bargain.

  • Thanks so much! Well done!

  • Guys, would you be able to confirm the status for those who managed to order it?

    • No update yet.

    • My current order status is:
      Item Shipped

  • Just got a mail saying they've shipped.

  • So what HDDs did people get? I'm leaving mine to do a surface scan overnight… Had a bit of damage on my boxes.

    • The HDD inside mine is Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 ST3000DM001 3TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s

    • I can confirm both of mine were ST3000DM001 as well.

  • mine was packed just in the Aust Post bag with no bubble wrap or anything. It looks like its been dropped a few time with the corners of the box all scrunched up so its more like a ball now than a box. pretty crappy packing for a IT company.
Will run some tests and if any problems will contact them on monday for a replacement.

  • Mine had no protection at all either except for the retail box. It's crushed in one of the corners too. I haven't opened it up to see if it's okay yet but I'll report back.

  • The HDD inside mine is Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 ST3000DM001 3TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s

    • and it came with Firmware 2.05 and I updated it to latest firmware 2.09

      • Is it easy to update the firmware. Can you link me to the site you used if possible? Cheers

    • same here Seagate Barracuda 7200 going by the firmware number. havent opened the casing in case I need to return it

      • This program allows you to get the HDD Model number without opening the enclosure. (free for 30 days)
        http://www.aida64.com/

  • Anyone know what the warranty is on these?

    EDIT : I see above - 2yrs Buffalo warranty.

  • Anyone in Perth received there's yet?
