This may seem like a good deal, but having just come back from a trip to Malaysia flying Air Asia I feel I should warn everyone NOT to fly with Air Asia! I realise they are a budget airline, but they make Jetstar/Virgin Blue seem like First Class airlines in comparison.
I would never fly with Air Asia again and would much rather pay a little extra for more comfort and better service.
Let me say a thing or two about AirAsia.
Judging from what you said, I think you flew with AirAsia X, the sister of AirAsia. The plane is A330 and the seat is 3-3-3. It is indeed cramped as they r trying to fit more ppl in. It has payable PTV.
The advertised route will be handled by Indonesia Airasia with most likely be A320 which has no PTV. So bring ur ipod along. The a320 configuration is 3-3 and fit 180 just like jetstar domestic. If you can survive that, then you'll be fine
Having said that this is a low cost model where frills are paid extra and thats how they can offer very cheap bare fares. You hav to sacrifice frills if you want low fares.
One of the principles of lowcost airlines are maximum utilisation of airplanes which contributes to lots of delay. From what i heard Indonesia Airasia does have lots of delays so plan extra time to avoid disappointment. However, all AirAsia flights are subject to OnTime guarantee policy whereby if the flight is delayed for 2 hrs or more, everyone will be entitled to Aud80 voucher.
It could be your luck with the cabin crew on that day as i found their service very good and even better than jetstar.
Choose wisely and be prepared to lower your expectation.
hy zack, mdippa stated there, he is flying from malaysia, so not from indonesia.
I flying with Air asia 2 months ago From KL-Melbourne. I pay extra for everything, from seat to in-flight entertainemnt. The inside flight was not that cramped. it is 3-4-3 (if im not wrong). at that time, my flight was not really full, so I can enjoy 3 seat (full row) all bymyself. The food was great. The entertainemtn was great to0. I watch twilight and some other movie.
but look at the price..What you Ride is What you pay. you wanna save some money. go with airsia, otherwise, choose Malaysia or singapore Airlines or XL Seat Air Asia (First class).
I wouldn't fly with them on a long trip - but Perth to Denpasar is only 3-4 hours (from memory) … then you can spend the cash saved on a nicer hotel or having more spending money. I don't enjoy eating any airline food, and why would you when you can get off the plane a get a reasonable meal at the destination, for a similar price. All it requires is a small amount of planning (take a Nintendo DS, or a portable media player with you).
LOL! you are complaining about a US$6/kilo luggage charge, Tiger australia charge more like AU30/kilo!
I wasn't complaining about the price. It's the principle. Every other airline I have flown with don't care if you're only a couple kilo's over. To charge someone for being 1kg over is just ridiculous.
They run their costs so tight they have to charge for any amount over the limit. Most people understand that and are happy to suck it up.
But even if they were nice enough to let it slide (which they were last time I flew with them), you'd still have moaned about everything else you deemed unsatisfactory. Why would they bother?
has anyone tried to book recently? i cant seem to get the cheaper fares anymore. i was on there a few hours ago, but having to consult with my partner took a few hours and now i cant find the great deals.
earlier i could get $202 for 2 ppl return from perth to bali
now it comes to almost $500!!
Most of the cheap fares are gone… you snooze you lose :)
Three people at my work got $80 return flights.
I would have booked something but already been to Bali this year and have other plans.
EDIT: There are still heaps of $211 return flights.
My parents got ~$100 after taxes and meals return.
One of my mates got $300 return on specific dates he knew I and another friend would be there.
I got 2 x $85 return flights. Almost got the exact dates I wanted, but then when I went to pay it said "error" and by the time I got back into the system those dates were gone. Had to modify the plans a bit and extend the holiday by 3 days, but I'd rather pay the extra hotel price ;)
Damn, I just bought Bali tickets two weeks ago. Would have saved over $200 each for me and my mates if I'd waited for this, based on our dates.
Bugger! Good deal though!
