28 Degrees MC decrease limit 12 months grace period

Hi all,
I thought I was being smart by decreasing my limit considering I haven't used this CC that often because I have the Amex platinum. Another reason why I have decided to decrease the limit was because of the recent Citi card offer which I took up.

However, Murphy law strikes! A week after I decrease this limit, I had to head overseas and needed that credit to be reverted back. As the topic suggested there is a 12 months wait before you could increase the limit again. I've explained my situation to them but unfortunately they could not alter their policy.

I guess my question is, is there a card similar to 28 Deg which I could possibly look into? Don't really want to go Citi Debit as it is a Debit instead of Credit Card.

Cheers in advance for all your inputs.

You can try to apply for bank west platinum cc.
No overseas transaction fee for overseas purchases.

    • How's their conversion rate?

      • I you use your card then transfer money to pay it off u can continue to use it

        or use ur amex
I have amex platmiun and 28 degrees and while most times 28 degrees exchange rate is better, when I've max out my 28 degree I use my amex and the rate aint bad (amex has better rates but conversion fees)

        Similar Mastercard conversion.

        • I'm going to check this out PissLur, thanks for the suggestion.

I am just wondering how come no one have discussed this card previously. I only come across 28 and Citi debit.

Because the 28 degrees used to let you preload it and withdraw from an ATM (till Jan 2014) so it had an additional useful feature. It also has lower eligibilty requirements.

People still discuss the bankwest one but its a bit out of reach of your average uni student going on an overseas holiday so it doesn't come up as much.

Yeah - I came across this rule before.
Can't really see any good reason for it except to discourage and punish people for lowering their limit.
Surely they want us to increase our limits and preventing otherwise qualified people from doing so is nothing but spite.

  • what's wrong with a debit card?

You might want to spread your payment out, to take advantage of the interest free period.
Or pay the interest to pay back the holiday spending over a few months.

      • Correct mskeggs, I pay my balance every month, but if I have the chance why not keep all the cash to myself until I have to make a payment.

It does seem a stupid rule.

  • It's more than likely to stop people who can't manage their credit cards from racking up a bunch of debt.

Can you just load the card with 2000 credit and you essentially have a bigger credit limit? Plus, another benefit is using it as a cash advance facility for free until 1 jab 2014

    • Very good point leeroys_dad, thanks for the great advice!
