Think this might be a Cyber Monday special. (may run for longer , not sure).

Having just been in the market for a decent PSU this caught my eye. US prices are far more competitive than comparative models in Australia. With the additional 30% off it's definitely worth checking out.

Don't skimp on your PSU. Stick to reputable manufacturers (Seasonic, Corsair, XFX, Rosewill, Antec).

        240V or 120V ?

        • +1

Pretty sure all PSUs, at least ones that I would trust to power my computer, are 100-240v input

edit: for the tx650 example "Universal AC input from 90~264V"

        Exactly

Yeah. Not completely sure. But at least some Amazon suppliers actually ship to Australia! Unlike Newegg, Tiger Direct etc. You'll also find models that may not be available here.

Each model will compare differently with Aussie prices(obviously). So I would put a few in your shopping cart, check out and check shipping costs, then compare with local prices using StaticIce.com.au

    One example

Corsair Professional Series 760 Watt Digital ATX/EPS Modular 80 PLUS Platinum Power Supply AX760i
    Total AUD $221.53

    Cheapest Aussie price is $277.65
    :)

    Deals to be had.

  • These things weigh a ton! Just sold one on ebay and lucky that the buyer wanted to pick it up. I just bought a new one for myself (not from here).

Postage won't be worth it in the most part sadly.

  • The Amazon price in my example above includes postage!

Amazon deal = $221.53 (total including postage to Sydney)
Best local price = $277.65 (plus postage)

So like I said. Deals to be had.

  • But aren't these 110v and won't work here in Australia without a step down transformer?

    • +2

No. Unless you're buying some cheap $20 psi, they should all be switching power supplies. Can be used on both 110vv and 230v

    • Your results may vary, but since a power supply's main job is to transform electricity from one form to another, most will tolerate 100-240v without missing a beat.

I could keep going on and on but Google is your friend.
$3 kettle plug cable (aka C13) is all you'll need in most cases.

Having said that, the prices are modest improvements over local stock, most apparent at larger supplies. For single GPU setups you won't be pushing past 650w (even with a Titan/GTX780 or dual GPU one card set ups like GTX690, 7990) and I couldn't see any bargains in that range (being a modular, Platinum rated PSU).

Having said that, Amazon's probably the only place an Australian will be able to get their hands on a Rosewill (short of flying over there).

make sure you don't buy anything from OCZ
Company just filed for bankruptcy, could be potential issues with warranties not being honoured.

  • Note: most PSUs will support both 110v and 240v, however you may need to click a physical switch on the PSU for the appropriate voltage.

If this is the case, make sure you select the 240v option BEFORE plugging it in!

Warranty may be a pain regardless of company as you may need to send it OS.

    Otherwise, some good deals here.
