I've been eying this drive for some time now and $169 is the cheapest price that I have ever seen for the 3TB model.
Officeworks is selling it for $248, could possibly price match and beat it by 5%

Deal includes free delivery - excludes Western Australia and Northern Territory.

To those who don't know about the My Book Live: (courtesy of Engadget)

The My Book Live includes most basic NAS functionality — such as the ability to operate as a media server, and provide access to local files over the internet — but forgoes features such as RAID and expandable storage to keep the price down. f you need the security of RAID, or want more granular configuration options, you'll want to look elsewhere. But if you just need to access your files from anywhere on your home network and the internet, don't have a router that will allow you to add NAS-like capabilities to any USB drive, and don't need more than 3TB of storage, the My Book Live is an affordable choice.

    postage to 6000 is $13 ($17 insured).

would it still be worthwhile to get from officeworks for those who reside in WA?

JB Hifi has the drive for $199.

  • Good price I got one from office works last time via a price match for $178. Happy with it and have installed transmission as my bit torrent client

    • Awesome. Thanks for that. Installed Transmission. Just getting the hang of it now.

  • If officeworks allow split payments, and after ING 5% works out to $164.25

  • What are the read/write speeds like for one of these things?

  • OW failed to pm. They claimed they rang BL and said it was an price error. Fail again, sigh.

    • its on the website. should be pretty straightforward.

      • Yes. But too bad BL put the 1TB box on there, though the spec said 3TB. :(

  • In terms of features the MyBook Live seem to lose to the GoFlex Home but it seems transfer speeds are better than that of the GoFlex Home. What are possible reasons the difference in performance?

    • The cpu and ram. Faster cpu faster speed.
