Is there a way to join immediately to get this discount? I see I can add the club membership to my trolley but I'm not sure if they send you something to sign up.

during previous member-only 20% off days, counter staff were signing people up on the spot.

i've even forgotton my club card a few times and they just search for your membership by email address.

    • I signed up from my mobile out the front of the store. Took a little while, but got my membership and $5 credit. Then walked in and used it immediately. This was about 12 months ago.

    • You can 'sign up' on your way through the checkout by providing name, phone number and email address (PS. They can be bogus and you'll still get 20% instantly.) What happens is they charge you $5 then you get an email later to 'sign up' and after you sign up you get the $10 credit. I just happened to be in Supercheap today with no idea about this and on the way out the guy asked if I wanted to join the club. You can give a bogus details if you still want the 20% but are not willing to give your details out - You'll just lose out on the $10 credit.

FYI the main point of the club is to provide you a 'price gaurantee' so if you buy something and within 2 weeks it goes on special, they'll automatically credit your loyalty card the difference as credit (not redeemable for cash) which you have 28 days to spend in store. It's not bad but some credit card products actually offer this same purchase price guarantee for anything you buy and it's within 6 months, not 2 weeks.

How do you get the checkout to show the 20% discount? I signed up for the club membership thing.

    • Give them your details so she can find your membership in the system or you will have your issued card with you so they can scan it

    • +1

I signed up too online but no 20% is showing either.

  • Thanks OP! was planning to get a rock rack. they confirmed I can have 20% off for the bar but not the fitting kit. it still works $60 off for me. pretty sweet!

  • you can just walk in & join

5 bucks to join the club? Really?

    • +1

you should have joined last year when it was free and you got $10 too :p

    • Actually they give you $5 to join the club.
You pay $5 to join and they give you $10 credit.

      • when they launched it, it was free to join for existing newsletter subscribers so those who got in early got $10

Guys, which is better to stores fuel plastic jerry can or metal jerry can. I read it somewhere on the internet some people says that the metal one will rust out [eventually].

    • +9

well shit son, you think? it's metal

      • hahaha

      • Well as the matter of fact ( or result of marketing ) that many people wouldn't think the metal ( supposedly, had been paint inside ) rust out. I'm planning to store fuel for car.

        • +1

My plastic can lasted much longer, metal one was empty after a couple of years!

        • +1

Couple of years? Fuel does go stale you know… just sayin'

        • 6 months for todays fuels, if you using e10/85 it will start to go "green" coloured just after 3 months.

I use plastic ones to store fuel for short periods of time, i.e going camping.

    • What are you going to use it for? and where is it getting stored?

I'd go with the plastic one

Cheaper and won't rust out as you said

    • +2

A good plastic can will last a lifetime if not left in the sun or otherwise abused.
But the SCA brand is crap compared to Willow. e.g. spout comes off when pouring if not careful.

Metal will take more UV or physical abuse, but don't store in the damp.

The best plastic ones to buy are the Scepter ones from Repco, these are made in Canada and used by the UN throughout the world.

I picked up two a few months back for $20 each which was half price. The model was "Part #03609 RV520 5.3 gal./ 20L "Jeep Style" Gas Can Not available in the U.S." as can be seen here - http://www.scepterconsumer.com/auto/specialty/

      They're on sale until TODAY (24th of December 2013) at Repco for $24.99 save $19.00 - http://catalogues.repco.co.nz/Christmas_Gift_Guide_/5478/Sce…

The willow ones are not the same quality that once were, the BMW ones they sell are rubbish.

As for metal vs plastic there are many reasons to go plastic but the main one IMO is this

"The plastic construction prevents fatal explosion risk when the canisters are hit with shrapnel or projectiles; in fires they may eventually burn with the fuel, but no instantaneous explosions caused by pressure build-up as is the case with metal fuel cans."
      http://www.sceptermilitary.com/

And more reasons here - http://www.exploroz.com/Forum/Topic/70526/Plastic_gerry_cans…

  • any recommendation on motorbike lubricant and chain washing solution?

I'm having trouble checking out the club plus membership. the red 'checkout' button is faded and I can't click it. Anybody else have this problem?

    • Click the get freight quote link and then enter your post code and suburb. It will then update to say delivery cost is $0 and the red button will become clickable.

  • is it annual fee $5 to maintain membership?

    • +1

      it's a one-off fee.

One thing about this club is that they give you the difference is something you buy subsequently gets reduced in price, but they only give you a couple of weeks to spend it. So basically it's a way to get you back to spend even more as you'll most likely only get a few dollars.

    • +1

not exactly. you get the difference refunded if the item you bought goes on sale/is cheaper within 2 weeks. you get 1 month to spend your credits.

      • -1

Yeah, missed that bit, but I reckon there shouldn't be time limit, or it should be longer like a year.

        • nothing is completely to the customer's advantage ;)

  • Gave it 3 hrs after registration, got my $10 and price gets reduced automaticall! Yay!

  • -1

does the 20% off include sale items?

  • Yaaaay I got $10 credit hahaha

  • Now it's safe to assume that if I buy something today, and the on boxing day specials it beats the price.then I will get credit for the price difference?

That's how it works? Coz the item I want atm the price is at its.normal.price

  • +1

Is the discount appiled at checkout? Or is credit given after checkout?

    • Its shown in the 'my loyalty credit' tab. Be patient, may take a few hours to be approved and shown

      • So… you buy the item at full price, and then the 20% becomes loyalty credit?

    • 20% discount is applied at the checkout.

according to the email members received, "Best price rewards credits will be processed from 26 December 2013."

  • +1

Well that was great, ended up with some new oil (Penrite 10w-40 Ten Tenths) with a total discount of $18.50 once the loyalty credit was applied.

Can't complain about that when I was just about to buy it at full price anyway.

  • just an FYI, 20% off continues online tomorrow for members (25/12), as well as online+in-store on 26/12 for everyone.

  • Managed to get there late this arvo and picked up the last 5L Mobil 1 Gold bottle from the shelf. Only time I ever buy oil is during these sales even though my next service isn't for over 4 months. Cheers OP!

  • is the $10 credit thingy still valid?

    • never mind, worked. credit was instantly available after i activated my account
