Best Boxing Day tablet deal?

I'm leaving the country in early Feb, so looking for the most awesome tablet deal that I can claim tax back on at airport.

Any thoughts? I am complete tablet noobie, but these 2 seem to be great prices:

  • That nexus 7 price is a steal and the tablet is arguably the best on the market. Go for it without hesitation.

      It's the old one!

  • The Nexus looks like first generation though

That Nexus 7 is the older model. May be OK for what you want and that definitely is a good price for it.

For comparison, here's a link to the newest model at Hardly Normal: http://www.harveynorman.com.au/asus-google-nexus-7-32gb-wifi…

Cheapest price I could find for the new Nexus 7 is $269 delivered Kogan. Also JB and Harvey Norman have Microsoft Surface 32gb for $223 and Bing Lee has Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8" for $233.

  • Remember to spend more than $300 to claim the tax.

  • EB Games has the older Nexus 7 if that will do you, preowned for $158 16GB version or $188 32GB with bonus Sennheiser HD201 headphones: https://www.ebgames.com.au/tablets

Shipping to Brisbane is $2.50 (??)

  • Many thanks guys.
Am firming towards a Samsung .. I hate the company but they seem to be the only Android tabs that work with Foxtel: http://community.foxtel.com.au/t5/Announcements/6-New-Samsun…
and this is one of the main reasons I'm buying it.

    This seems a value buy:

I'v got a GG credit note, so hopefully they will price match.

Coupled with an SD card (this is the right one for such a tablet … http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/buyonline/Sandisk_Micro_SD_Ult… yeah) I should be close to the magical $300 mark.

Any strong feedback about Tab3s? Any strong opinons on why I should/ shouldn't buy one?

    Thanks heaps for your responses.

    Cheers

    • the samsung tab range are really mid-tier tablets. their processor and pixel density is quiet average when compared to the flagship models. Probably explains why they are a bit cheaper. having said that, the 8" form factor is ideal. the nexus 7 is really too small..

  • Gave each of my sons a 32gb Nex7 (2012) for Christmas. They are rapt. Still plenty fast enough for them. The younger one even made a point of thanking me for thinking me for such a perfect present a few days later, though he may have had a beer or 2 in him at the time!
Both updated to KitKat within a few hours of being turned on, so that may be a factor.
