  • any one have this?

how long does it take to make 1 Liter of ice cream from this machine
and how much energy would it consume to make that 1 Liter ? (Power Bill is expensive these days)

(If operation cost is more than $10 a liter, I would probably give it a pass.)

The electricity cost wouldn't be anywhere near that high because it doesn't have a compressor - you freeze the bowl in your freezer and the "maker" just stirs it for you…

  • +1

I assume this in one of those where you have to put the bowl in the freezer first.
I want one that does it all in one!

Better buy from the supermarket and save yourself from the hassles and an unwanted item in your house.

    • +2

True!. Once you add up the cost of the ingredients to make something decent, it's more cost effective to grab something decent from the supermarket. Coles has half litre Peanut butter ice cream tubs for $4 this week. Yum

      • Oh my jesus peanut butter ice cream? Does it have chocolate like those Reeses peanut butter cups DON'T ANSWER THIS POST god help me oh god.

        • It has a very slight hint of chocolate running through it. Not much though. Ooops I've said to much!

        • Thanks it was delicious, hell of a Sunday dinner.

This once looks pretty similar to the Kenwood unit in the article.

I got CotD's listing of the same thing (with free shipping) :D.

    Cool it has one;

    Specifications:

    On/Off button

  • $25 +P/H seems a little steep, these were $12 at Woolies for Mistral Ice Cream Maker when they were being cleared out.

reminded me of Aunt Stella: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVrU0JNAgqI

    • Damn you beat me to it. I was thinking the exact same thing. +1 to you!

  • Does anyone know where to get frozen yogurt mix for home use with this machine? It probably has the recipe for the machine itself but it probably doesn't taste like the ones at a proper froyo bar.

  • I bought my wife an icecream maker for christmas and i can tell you, it is INCREDIBLY good icecream. Supermarket icecream has been getting significantly worse as time wears on, this stuff my wife makes reminds me of the good icecream from when i was a kid

  • +1

I never ended up buying one as im a bit short on play money this week but for the costs…
    1 cup milk (20c)
    1/2 cup sugar (10c)
    2 cups thickened cream ($2.20)
    1-2 tsp vanilla extract/essence (25c)

So its about $3 to make yourself 1l of basic vanilla.. given that most choc, berries or nuts you might want to add are about $5-20/kg your'e looking at $4-6 for something really special.

  • Hehe, Thanks.. thought as much. 'be paying myself 'bout -$0.31/hr to make it this way. :p

      >you're looking at $4-6
