What kind of question is this?
Must i remind you that this is Ozbargain
:)
I was just wondering how everyone found Udemy if no one had ever paid for it.
A better question would be:
Has anyone here actually took any of the Udemy courses they got here for free?
I took that 'dating for men' one yesterday.
I looked at the "How Educators Can Teach with Twitter and iPads" course (https://www.udemy.com/how-educators-can-teach-with-twitter-a…) out of curiosity, only to find it was impossible to complete. There are 33 items, and the last item is a quiz the instructor has not yet completed. So, the best you can do is 32/33 and no certificate. Not that I would be desperate to have a Udemy certificate, but it was a sign the quality control is not perfect on the various courses.
I took the grant writing course which went for free a while back, thought it was good.
Have also purchased a course on R (a free stats package) for $100 (using a 50% off code), is actually really good.
How do they give away these courses for free?
I would hate to actually pay for them
Is Udemy merely a host rather than someone that actually designs the courses? Thus, do people pay Udemy to host their course?
Anyone can sign up and make a course. However, all courses are apparently checked for quality by Udemy. You don't have to pay last time I looked. Udemy just take a slice when a new student enrols and pays.
How 10 Instructors Earned $1.6 Million on Udemy in One Year
I paid for one a few months back (and regretted it). See https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/113548 (sorry, despite being on OzB for years, I still haven't figured out how to link directly to my comment).
Thank you for linking it. Your comment in that thread made me laugh. How frustrating!!!
Have you taken any pictures recently?I have a similar waste of money story - I bought a manicure and pedicure and because of some issues with my feet I had to put shoes on which ruined my nails so I had to remove everything they had done that afternoon. I was really upset because I had been looking forward to it since I injured myself from ballet (months). $30 gone.
When I travel, I take at least 100 pics/day with my trusty Panasonic TZ. I was looking for tips on how to improve the framing/lighting/etc because I'm loathe to buy a larger camera (more options but less chance I'll carry it with me). So, yes, I have taken lots of pics in 2013 but not because of this course. :-)
Do you have a website or tumblr etc?
No, I'm old school. I have a house full of printed photos in actual wooden/metal frames.

Hover just right of the time (or click on the time) and a little pilcrow symbol ¶ will come up, click on it and it will show your comment url in the address bar.
Brilliant! 1000 upvotes for you!
Well, one from me at least. :-)
Yeah after 1 lecture I deleted this course. If I could delete it again I would. I even contemplated sending this guy hate mail.
The last 2 parts of the male fashion one -
Dress to Look Taller
Dress to Look ThinnerIf anyone would like to share the points they learn there please post them.
Possible content:
- Dress to Look Taller: http://www.tallmenshoes.com/
- Dress to Look Thinner: http://www.goldsgym.com/
Disclaimer: I have not viewed the course.
Let's hope so.
I was intrigued by the 'look thinner' but I really just want the 'look taller' information. I'm already 173 barefoot but my sisters are 178 and I want to be their height. I injured myself in ballet so I can't wear heels for some time. Here's the tl;dw version…
Try to create an inverted triangle (broad at shoulders, tapering to the toes).
Don't wear big shoes - they are big and chunky and make you look shorter.
Wear lifts inside your shoes - they add an inch to your height, but they're like a Wonderbra (false advertising).
Don't wear baggy pants - they are loose and make you look like you don't fit them because you're short. Look for pants with a lower rise (ie: length of the crotch). Bonus points in this video for the guy half-yelling "you reach down and mmmmm you're grabbin' nothin' but your junk - no extra fabric!"
Thank you.
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHA. I hope that part is uploaded to youtube.
Do the Tallmenshoes make you look ridiculous though?
Thanks for the post on the courses. They come in handy when I'm looking for something to do.
Side note - is there a dating part of the forum? Like questions or confessions etc.
I hope I don't get in trouble for posting my question here I just didn't know where to.Dunno bout dating but i can get u a code for a cut price hour at daily planet.
Tempting but I must decline.
The confidence one is gone :(
Missing out reduced my confidence by half
What's half of zero confidence?
Also something to ponder…
what's double of zero confidence?2x0=0
I had to read the course title twice. In scanning the page I thought it said "Double Your Confidence & Self Esteem - Complete Bullsh.." ;-)
Double your confidence & Abobe Photoshop CS6 sold out.
Thanks for the free courses.the way its going they might have to pay me to complete a course.
Is that "Lean Finance for Startups" code legit? There was a big hullabaloo by the author last time it was posted.
Strategy at Speed and the Guitar one are gone.
Thanks to all who signed up for my FREE "Understanding Photoshop CS6 - Basics" course.
Since you guys and gals used up all of the existing coupons I decided to post another FREE coupon.https://www.udemy.com/understanding-adobe-photoshop-cs6-basi…
Enjoy ….

Thanks for the heads up and effort.
Great work : )
Has anyone here actually PAID for a Udemy course?
