Always have had a good experience flying with Emirates. Would be my choice over Air NZ (As per deal Air NZ Deal posted)

Had horrible experience with them to NZ. Don't know why people keeping singing their praises. For 99% of us, their Economy is much the same as any other.

I've traveled between Australia and Europe about 10 times in the last 5 years, and the recent journey (and first journey) with Emirates was the best. Seat spacing is about the same, but cabin cleanliness (especially noticeable towards the end of a long-haul flight), attentiveness by crew, quality of food and (most importantly for me) the capabilities of the entertainment system were all better than on the other flights I had.

Besides that, you can't fly on a Qantas plane from Europe to Australia (or at least not from Frankfurt) - these are all Emirates flights. This is a win, IMO.

I guess our two anecdotes balance each other out. :)

Seat spacing is about the same.

Same as? I last flew with Air Asia to KL, and the seat spacing on that put me off flying anything like it again.

Avoid 77W, 3-4-3 config in Y is too crowded.
Choose A380 for wider Y seat.

  • I've flown internationally with Emirates and QANTAS. All times I've had great experiences, but Emirates would be my preference out of the 2.
