EBAY PAYPAL DISCOUNT CSUPERJAN DOESN'T WORK

I'm trying to use the CSUPERJAN offer for a $10 discount and when I do so I get the error, "This discount is not linked to this PayPal account … To use this discount, the associated email address must be linked to your PayPal account. You can add your email address to this account, try logging in to a different PayPal account, or continue your purchase without using the discount". The email address I'm using is my paypal email and my ebay email and hasn't changed for 6 months.
Any idea why it isn't working? Will it only work if the code is emailed to me directly?

      likewise, and if I had a Christmas card list, they would be off it as well.
