Just use it with free trials on websites that require a credit card

      • How do you pay the dormant account and monthly fees if you don't deposit any money?

        • dunno , mine is active as today. They might just cancel it at the end on 30 days and by then would have got all my free trials :D

      • +1

pfft, just use a visa debit card with zero balance

        • +1

most visa debt cards with charge you a dishonor fee if you get a charge with no balance in your account

        • +1

i don't think that is correct. it is not a credit card. electronic authorisations should be declined, although in some cases it is possible for transactions to occur (eg, manual transactions). ingdirect won't let me spend 1c more than what is in my account at coles and my monthly $1 tpg payments bounce regularly :)

        • Hulu and Spotify premium work. Netflix doesnt

        • My Suncorp Visa Debit account allows any transaction up to $100 in the negative but charges an "honour" fee. Any transaction (electronic, direct debit or manual) that takes the account over $100 in the negative IS charged a dishonour fee.

        • Netflix worked with my 28deg card (not that it was charged)

        • you are right

"Payment Honour Fee Applies if we allow a transaction initiated by you to overdraw your account. For example, a direct debit payment, Visa debit transaction, in branch withdrawal, EFTPOS or ATM withdrawal etc."

seems stupid, because if you accidently try to withdraw too much from an atm or shop you get charged a fee lol.

if you want to minimise that fee you could set up a sweep from a secondary account (eg high interest account).

for ingdirect and many other financial institutions i've used, you can't spend more than you have in your account at the time using credit transactions. you get a declined response, even for $1.

  • Entropay FTW

    • you need to load your account first to get you virtual card number with entropay

      • But there's no fees involved?…. You can load with $20 and never decide to use it… no fees?

Cancelling your account with those Bancore costs you a cool

Close account / Withdraw to credit/debit card $7.99

Not to mention also getting charged $0.49 a month for nothing!?

        • -1

how can they charge you if you have no money in your account. They might just cancel it at the monthly anniversary date

        • its called a bad credit rating and a debt collection agency calling you every day

        • There's a minimum amount required before you can report someone for a bad credit rating. Cant remember how much though

A debt collection agency wont bother unless its a reasonable amount.

  • would it cost anything to use it for trials that required credit card?

    • +1

nope, as long as you dont charge it.

It doesnt even ask for details except you mobile number (to activate account) and your fake name

      • and your fake name

        which amounts to identity fraud

      • What if they decide to sell your mobile number to spammers as punishment for not paying the monthly fees? ;)

  • before go in I need to know how to get out. :)
Do they charge a cancellation fee when I want to cancel my card?

    • find it - $7.99 to close account. So it's not free.

  • This is not free - the absolute minimum cost is $8 (just opening and closing.)

    • +1

mine is open, Just used it for a new hulu trial

      • so you are going to pay $0.49 per months?

        • nope, my account balance is $0. And not planning to charge it

        • by opening an account you have signed a contract with them and agree to those fees. I am not sure how they get money from you. Maybe from your phone's credit?

        • you rebel! lol

        • Maybe from your phone's credit?

          $0 credit

        • Credit Rating?

        • +4

Im pretty sure John Smith's credit rating is already bad

        • So really you only get it for one month? I assume they disable you account for non-payment. When you need it again you got to re-signup?

  • You have to use your PayPal to verify it.couldn't they charge your PayPal?

  • it also says "*) Note Apple does not accept Virtual VISA at iTunes.". other retailers might also reject the card

    • I know Virtual Credit cards work with newegg , i remember getting the FREE Hulu 1 month Gift certificate with a virtual card registered

  • How do you sign up for credit card number?
Please select payment method is what comes up 4 me

    • Dont worry, got it. Cheers op great deal

  • Why bother? Just use your debit card for an account like ING Direct or Citibank Plus that have no fees on anything.

Not sure what is the benefit of having something like that but maybe someone can highlight that to me. Is there ANY benefit to having something like that over a debit card linked to an account with zero balance and zero fees?

because u get charged a dishonor fee if an attempt is made to charge you and you have no money in your account

      • +1

that is simply not true for all financial institutions. choose the right australian financial institution. what ginmi said is correct, the ingdirect account is transaction-fee free, no honour/dishonour fees for bounced credit transactions.

fyi won't work without funds for sites such as uber that make a temporary authorisation charge :(

    • incorrect , i used a virtual card to sign onto to uber (from paypoint.com) around a month ago and it worked. Please dont make claims unless you can support them

The only sites that i noticed doesnt accept them that i tried is netflix and quikflix

Even Amazon accepted an order with a virtual card, then for an email 5 min later that they couldn't process a payment

      • without funds - no credit, zero balance? i don't think so

how can i be sure? i tried with uber :)

  • hi everyone - do any of you know if we can use this at US sites that only accept US-based credit cards/cards with a mandatory US-based Billing address? I was trying to complete some purchases at Uniqlo US and H&M US this week and it was no-go for both stores…
