Great price! Although not quite 24"…

    • +4

Seems to be a growing trend..
Perhaps monitor manufacturers have started employing marketing people from Hard Drive manufacturers? :-)

  • +1

would not recommend buying from fluidtek…
Bad service and had no stock of this monitor when I went last week.

    • +1

Can't blame a place for being low in stock surely??
It's back in stock apparently cause I got a call to set up payment

    • +3

The owner was smoking in-store when I was a customer there earlier this year.

  • ROFL at the big blinking text on the front page:

"If you think this font hurts the eyes - remember its great for the wallet - big savings"

    • +1

Maybe OzBargain should deploy some of those blinking elements. After all this site is great for the wallet too :)

      • ozbargain doesn't need any gimmicky elements, great the way it is.

        • latch on to enough of his ass there? :p

Been to Fluidtek once and will never return. It makes you wonder whether saving a few dollars is worth being abused by the shop owner.

  • Brilliant monitor. I paid $299 at mwave.
If you can get it for this price it's a genuine bargain.

  • i wonder if this monitor can use with PS3 console?

As i know that this monitor doesn't have speaker include. If i plug my PS3 in, would there option for sound?

    Sorry i'm newbie in PS3.

    • it has a HDMI port, but i'm not sure about audio, just get some sort of adapter and plug them into your pc speakers.

      edit:
will give a neutral to this post. its a bargain, but from a bad seller.

      • Yeah, no speakers but it does have an audio out to go into headphones or speakers.

  • As a few have said, I've heard many horror stories at Fluidtek and so I won't vote on this.

    • I've Googled for Fluidtek horror stories and there's quite a few.. Even (or scarily especially) for people who are able to go in-store!

I think you've scared me off this deal!

EDIT: having read the stories, it looks like the horror is actually in returning goods.. getting them is not an issue.

  • So it that mean HDMI to monitor and audio out from 3.5mm?

  • +1

    yeah, correct.
You can use it for PS3, xbox360, anything that outputs to HDMI even for HD settop box.
It is practicaly an LDC TV. My 24" acer takes 2 hdmis and 1 d-sub, hooked it up with my 360/PS3/HD Tuner and PC.
For the audio, you can feed the 3.5 audio out from the screen to your sound system.

Very good price, especially if you're in sydney. But for those of you in Brisbane like myself, for $279 you can pick this monitor up from Umart. From fluidtek with shipping cost, it will be $277 total. So judging from the reviews of fluidtek, i'd rather get one from Umart and not have to worry or wait for shipping.

Also, for those looking for a similar LCD with built in speakers, you can get an ASUS VH242H Full HD 23.6" LCD, with HDMI, 2x2W RMS speakers, for only $325 from Gamedude in Brisbane. It's also got SPDIF out.

I've been wanting to get one of these cheap Full HD 24" monitors to use as a TV, but the biggest problem i've found is trying to find cheapish 2.1 speakers that come with a wireless remote to control the volume. Cause i'm not sure the ASUS built in 2W speakers will be enough for me, cause i also want to use the speakers as my stereo, for plugging my mobile phone into it for mp3 playback, or my mum's ipod nano too.

It's not very practical having to get up off your chair to change the volume, or mute it.
Not enough speaker manufacturers produce PC speakers with wireless remotes. There's a couple of Altec Lansing ones between $100-$200, but it sort of defeats the purpose of getting a really cheap HD TV. I'd be running a HD tuner PVR or DVD recorder into the HDMI port.

    • Does the PVR/DVDR have input volume control? (My DVD player does)
Means I can change the volume on the signal coming out of the DVD player, thus leave the speakers at appropriate volume..
Only problem is, the DVD player starts up at full volume every time..

      • What model do you have? I haven't actually bought the unit yet, just plans.
I do currently own a Topfield PVR (5000t or somthing like that), and a Pioneer DVD recorder (DVR333 or something like that), but neither have HDMI out, or DVI out, to plug into an LCD.
But i would be curious if my DVD recorder has input volume control. What would it look like?

        • Some noname brand from Strathies.. Omni I think..
the remote has volume up and down buttons on it and it controls the audio volume out of the DVD not the TV or speakers..
Might be one of those unusual bonus features you get on noname products, but worth looking for in your situation.

Gee, c'mon people wake up - unless you're tone deaf or only using it for desktop work with zero music or movies BUILT IN MONITOR speakers are horrible!!!

They make $18 Logitech R-20's sound like B&W 801's! And please spare me the people who say 'My monitor's built in speakers are great." I respect that - but lets not kid each other up against a stand alone speaker of even a crappy quality they sound very ordinary.

People who've bought earlier and now say this is a fab deal should factor in the $AUS is now at $US.080 - as opposed to the near $US0.60 it was a few months ago.

And yup as usual its russian roulette in this store - as you might get in and out in one piece but you also might find the owner and his relos smoking in the store, drinking behind the counter or cop the proverbial abuse form the owner - and its proper abuse too.

I pity the fool that has to RMA back through Fluidtek.

I'm not posting negative - as I feel thats unfair but folks need to be aware that this vendor has some 'practices' that are very well documented and too often repeated to be fabrications or people that are just annoyed at him etc. So think about it before you fall over yourself to save a few dollars.

  • The Price is good and that is all that matters to me , i buy my item and i leave . and if they have stock . thats what matters . Regarding RMA - Benq is there . A huge Positive for me . Go Fluidtek

    • Quote: "The Price is good and that is all that matters to me , i buy my item and i leave . and if they have stock . thats what matters . Regarding RMA - Benq is there . A huge Positive for me . Go Fluidtek"

Pal, honestly thats fine if you just want price based purchase. I do hope you never have a problem.

HOWEVER, please do not mislead people with erroneous statements - Benq having a distributor or actual prescence in Australia means NOTHING!

During the first 12mths of nearly all IT products warranty its mandatory that you first deal with the retailer - you can not go direct to the distributor or manufacturer.

Be my guest, call any big IT manufacturer now and say your item is under warranty and faulty - they'll refer you to their retailer first.

And thats when you get to 'enjoy' dealing with Eddie.

      • Not every manufactuer like Samsung monitor after 7 days (I think not very sure) warranty by Samsung directly.

        Benq not very sure .

lol everyone knows eddy has bad customer service but he still gets sales and can afford to go to France for his honeymoon…you ask why? because he has ridiculously cheap deals and ppl will choose that despite his manners or lack thereof. So get over it, we all kno abt the bad service (period)

  • yep , you said it Dudeeeeeee , get over it matey . we know it . we love the the prices . you just have to shop somewhere else

  • Can anyone confirm still have stock in there before i go?

    • I'm sure if you call them they can tell you!

  • Just a warning. I've heard lots of horror stories about Fluidtek over the years, and I don't know if being treated rudely and having very bad return and warranty support is worth saving a few dollars.

  • Been there around 11:30am and been told there are about 200 in stock.

  • I've heard him said to a customer:
"if you can find it cheaper anywhere else in australia, i'll pay for your air ticket to get it plus i'll chop my dxxk off" LOL

QUOTE: “if you can find it cheaper anywhere else in australia, i’ll pay for your air ticket to get it plus i’ll chop my dxxk off”

Ah yes, Fluidtek….what a polished, ever professional outfit…..on a side note I think that exact wording was the runner up to the PriceMatch guarantee at Officeworks! :-P

Seriously though, if you ever need to do that Eddie….just hollar I'll be sure to rustle up a very sharp scalpel and a magnifying glass for you! :-P

        is he of Asian descent?

        • wtf does that have to do with anything…

          • @dudeeeeeeee: if he is, then i could kinda understand why he talks like that.
if he isn't, then i would be surprised he talks like that.

don't get me wrong, i'm got asian blood myself.

      • +1

Nikko: I totally agree with you. I've bought something off fluidtek ONCE (and will NEVER again) and got some problems, i returned and he told me off because it was during weekend (i actually waited there and I'm one of the first few people to get in). I then returned and he said because it's been more than a week, i now have to send it back to the manufacturer and am gonna charge you extra for postage. PLUS his self inflated ego that makes you puke. I swear to myself will never return.

As a business owner myself, this is definitely NOT the way to treat customers. The only people that goes there are the people who wants to save a few dollars. If there's another shop opened up that's a buck cheaper, they'll all gone to the other place instead with hardly any loyalty.

20 plus Positive that says it all .

I dropped by today, and there was ONE left.. at about 3:50pm. Not too sure if I heard this but I think the guy said more were coming in?

And wow these stories are kinda scaring me a bit.

  • +1

In my opinion, there just too much bullshit here!
All you need to do is bloody get in there and get out with your monitor, it should take you no more than 5 mins and job done.
All this asian descent, chop me dick off and bla bla bla are complete waste of time.

    • +1

then when you get home and try your shiny new monitor, you find one (or two, or three or more) dead pixels. you bring it back into the store - now that is when the 'fun' starts.
customer service is more important than pricing to me.

      • +1

You always have the option to get it somewhere else. Regarding the dead pixels, you can always get an RMA within the warranty period. You are more likely to be hit by a cow on the street than getting pixels.

        • +1

i'll quote Nikko from above "HOWEVER, please do not mislead people with erroneous statements - Benq having a distributor or actual prescence in Australia means NOTHING!

During the first 12mths of nearly all IT products warranty its mandatory that you first deal with the retailer - you can not go direct to the distributor or manufacturer."

yeah, exactly. you always have the option to get it somewhere else. so that's what i suggest people do. you don't want to be dealing with fluidtek for RMA.

and if you read whirlpool forums, there was a thread that showed getting dead pixels is roughly a 1/4 chance. thats a much higher chance than getting hit by a cow on the street if you ask me.

          • @ltwo: "Please contact BenQ 1300 130 336 for RMA before bring unit to BenQ." My household bought 6 lcd panels in the past 3 yrs, ranging from 24 to 48" and none has a single sh#! on it. Your 1/4 chance doesnt sound quite right mate, maybe not a cow but a bike, that would make more sense :)

            • @kingkong: that just means BenQ wants buyers to contact them before bringing the unit to them. it does not in any way say they will accept RMA directly in the first 12 months.

and i quote Nikko again, "During the first 12mths of nearly all IT products warranty its mandatory that you first deal with the retailer - you can not go direct to the distributor or manufacturer."

and its not my 1/4 chance by the way. its a thread on whirlpool. i don't see how 6 LCD panels can possibly be a big enough pool.

I've been buying my PC gear from Fluidtek for the last 5 years, and have never had any trouble. Once my RAM didn't work in my PC and he swapped it for another brand, no questions asked.

If you afraid of him being mean to you / being 'unprofessional' head over to itestate, it's about 10 minutes away from Fluidtek and the prices are similar plus they have more stuff. (www.itestate.com.au)

My 2412 was delivered yesterday, came on the second day after payment cleared. (I paid by Direct Deposit).
    No dead/stuck pixels
Pretty significant backlight bleeding, but it's noticeable only on single colour screens.
Fine for a home/casual user, but totally unsuitable for a graphics person (not that a graphics person should be looking for a TN LCD anyway)
