          MUCH WOW

        • MUCH DEAL!

        • btw - It's dual sim model. Bought 1 yesterday in QLD. Norton is "PC Attach, Not to be sold separately" copy. Phone is awesome for the price.

    • nice :)

    • There is no cash back on this item as they are giving a non retail version of the norton

Can you or anyone confirm that the Norton cashback is possible? And how would I go about doing it?

  • +15

Be aware; No micro-SD slot so on the 8GB device, you don't have much free space left (<4GB) after OS.

    • it's a budget phone, what would you expect ;)? but Nokia Lumia X,X+ and XL would be an ideal phone for your choice then for more storage capacity ;)

      • The new Nokia's are underspecced with less RAM and less CPU than this and wont be out for at least another month or two. Not to mention no Google Frameworked software or Play store.

        • What? X+ and XL both have 1GB RAM, just like moto G.. anyway XL is like 135Aus, ofcourse has worse CPU.

        • +1

Not according to GSMArena.. 768MB vs 1GB (enough to hold the OS). It is meant to be 100 Euro's plus the Aussie tax that sits on top, makes it around $200 by the time it is available for consumers.

There will most likely be a backlash on this considering the MicroSD cards are now up to 128GB (way more than the current phones):

      • +2

Honestly, not to phased at all. I stream my music, all my photos are synced automatically whenever I have wifi, what else do I have to worry about? Everything is moving online, so why bother with SD cards in the immediate future?

And besides - iPhone's have never had an SD card option, hasn't hurt their sales!! </hyperbole>

    Excellent deal

  • Thanks OP. May have just tipped me over with this. Pay less pay cash? :P

    • lol, it is a real Win-Win birthday deal lol

      • never again seen crazy prices?

  • What's the $20 voucher OP?

  • Where is the 16gb model?

  • +1

    I agree great deal!

  • +2

    Pay Less, Pay Wave :)

    • oh yeah lol

    • TGG allows 3 split payments?

      • well in this case you only need 2 in QLD ;)

      • -2

Split payments aren't allowed. You should only be using it for purchases up to $99.99 or they may remove your discount altogether.

        • +3

dear, I do it all the time ;)

        • concur with wxyz234, my ING 5% Paywave Cashback has been cancelled due to the ING staff found out I always split the payment under $99.99…

It is not allowed under ING T&C, but they may stop you if they found it…

        • So, use it for the first $99 then use another other payment type for the rest? A mere $5 saving.

        • +3

buy a $99 gift card in one transaction. in another transcation buy the item and pay with the gift card and the rest with paywave.

  • Do you have to install Norton to get the cashback?

    • +1

install and uninstall doesnt hurt though :)

      • When I asked I assumed it was PC only, but just realised from looking at it that it seems to be both mac/pc.

        • it's for every devices you have for up to 5 ;)

    • You'd need to pay me a lot more than $40 to use that Norton shite.

      • This may have been true a few years back. As the current user of Norton 360 I can recommend it. Have compared with AVG, MS Security Essentials and ZoneAlarm.

        • you're comparing bloatware to slightly better bloatware

I respect you having an opinion different to mine, which was surely based on your recent experience with the same products.

I should add that I got Norton 360 at no cost through a deal on here a few weeks ago.

  • +2

is the 16GB entering the Aussie market soon?

  • Any idea when this expires?

    • +1

the voucher expired on 3/3/14, so as the deal i think but thing like this runs out of stock quite quickly, get yours before 3/3 then ;)

      • +2

Why do you keep winking, trying to make the discussion sexual or flirty ???.

        • +1

        • +1

Hahaha. Gold! And excellent deal. Here's a ;) for you.

        • ;)

  • serious question (hope its not too stupid) My huawei y300 4gig has all the apps i need and under storage says total space 2.16gb apps 870mb etc then Available 1.05gb 145mb for applications. This means I can live with a 8gm Moto g right? my 16gb SD card says total space 14.8gb with 12.48 available

    • +4

I believe you can live with 8 GB. I am using Moto G. It had approx. 5 GB space available. I have installed 8-10 apps and no songs, videos. It works fine. Upload pictures and documents to Dropbox/50 GB Google space. Works fine for me. Should work for you if your priorities are clear.

I have the phone and it is really good. Bought for $235 so this is a good deal.

  • Does this $219 pricing apply to all TGG stores? When I select my local store on the TGG website, and look at catalogue, it says the $243 price.

    • it's in-store deal ;)

      • I just called local SA store, and they say it's $243 (he checked in their system)

        • +1

in the newest catalogue, it is on sales from today Feb 25th

  • What are the sale dates? Is it available in all states?

    • all states and QLD get the $20 voucher at the front of the catalogue

  • I just called my local WA store, its $243 in-store.

    • well,I still have the catalogue with me in QLD and the deal is on from today Feb 25th

      • It must be a Qld only thing. I rang my store (Vic) and was quoted $243.

        • just received one catalogue in NSW,same deal without the $20 voucher

  • +1

Really doubt you could get the norton cashback if youre getting it as a bonus.. Still worth a try..

    • its a question of whether is the TGG part of the participating retail stores for the cashback or not?

for norton cashback, they dont require us to upload/post the receipts.

    • Looks like it all depends on whether or not the Norton box has a special sticker.

      http://au.norton.com/now/en/AU_SITE/pu/images/Promotions/201…

"Participating retail stores will feature a promotional sticker on eligible products."

  • +1

Any GG stores in Vic matching this deal? Otherwise for those who prefer the 16g version, can be had for around $270 delivered through:

    http://www.eglobaldigitalcameras.com.au/motorola-moto-g-16gb…

    • +2

whats the point of matching if they dont have the product in stock?

  • +1

Called a vic store they had no idea. $239 was their offer.

  • Is it available in NSW?

    • -1

it is available in nsw too but without the $20 off from catalogue vocucher ;),still is a decent deal anyway

  • Did anyone have any luck picking this up today? Hoping to get it tomorrow. The sweetest part will be Norton paying me…

  • Will they mention the bonus Norton in the bill..will norton ask for the purchase receipt when claiming cashback? Will they honour a bonus?

  • There is no cash back on this item as they are giving a non retail version of the norton

    • If this can be confirmed, the title should be amended.

  • Anyone have any luck in victoria? The GG website catalogue has it for $243 with norton on page 36 http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/buyonline/content/Catalogue_01

  • How long is the offer expected to last? And The Good Guys' website still has the price marked as $243 but is that okay?

    • they would have the catalogue (newest one) in-store, grab one when you come in :), it starts from Feb 25

  • +1

I think this is a great deal, but if anyone is more interested in the Moto X, Motorola have just said on twitter that it will be launching in Australia "in next few weeks".

    https://twitter.com/Motorola/status/438401118687604736

    • Nice! Especially if the price stays down. It's around US$350 at the moment.

Edit: no mention of Moto maker for AUS. :(

  • OK, so just to be clear, the deal is you get the Moto G (in QLD for $199) plus Nortons but no cashback on the Nortons?

  • Also I think the way with ing would be to split the payment onto another card, so $99 on Ing for one transaction then the rest on your credit card or whatever that way it won't stir up ing cause they will just think you've bought a booted up toaster with spinners, and you still get $4.95 out of them.

  • c

  • Price at Moonah (Tas) is $243. Re $219, I was told "…that's less than our cost".

Head office of TGG unhelpful when I asked which states had $219 Moto G price ie they couldn't/wouldn't tell me.

Has anyone else got it for $219 other than those in Queensland or NSW?

    • less than cost

Ahhh.. The magic words. Then in that case, maybe TGG should be buying from JB, because they've been selling it below TGGs "cost"!

    • Got 1 yesterday in QLD, for 215$ (4$ discount from AD price:) ) - 20$ discount from newspaper. 195$ Total. Norton is OEM copy - so I'm not sure if 40$ cash back will work.

      • +4

Any chance you could post the receipt?

      • What's with the $ at the end of the number instead of the front? Is something wrong with your keyboard?

        • I always wonder why this particular unit is before the value and not after :S
          I don't travel km25 to work, but 25km, a ruler is 30cm, not cm30 and so on.
Some part of the world put the $ sign before, some after.
Also, for a 'peace maker', you're looking for a small fight lol

        • +1

It's due to the addition of a cent after the decimal. Putting 5$50c doesn't look good, but $5.50c works fine.

        • Not really. I was serious. I've seen it a few times and never understood why. I get your logic though.

        • Oh, I was replying to the other post. I have no idea why people put the $ at the end - laziest maybe? Comprehension problems? Who knows!!

        • +1

it was so when people used cheques the person cashing it couldn't take extra money 10.00$ can easily become 10010.00$ where as you cant change $10.00

  • +1

Best price they could do in VIC was 239 :/ Some bs excuse about possibly a misprint in the catalogue. If someone could post a receipt for it, might have better luck getting GG to match themselves.

  • If cashback were just down to OEM vs retail, this looks promising…

  • Anyone get refused the Norton with the $20 voucher? Maybe I just had an evil sales guy :(
