Congratulations mooreshady, it's always good to see well-thought-out and constructive discussion, as opposed to petulant gainsaying…
Just because DELL have demonstrated in the past that at times they couldn't organise a root in wood-yard, doesn't mean you should cut off your nose to spite your face if an offer comes your way that might be of some benefit.

      Live Long and Prosper,
      Jean-Luc.

    • Agree, pretty much rubbish. Stuff is over priced, and Dell service is scary like hell. I still remember the last time I called Dell, indian voice (or from a kingdom far and far away), keep getting transferring around, and the phone line quality suck.

lol compare dell with apple, you'll see what overpriced means.
my friend has had no issues with dell service and my laptop of over a year is still running smoothly.

  • 10% off overpriced stuff ?
    no, thanx.

  • Dell do have some deals. Eg: P8600/nv9300M Dell Vostro 1520 for $1144 is a very good deal. http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1216952#r… .

If need fast graphics, the EX625 offers crazy fast 3dmark06 of 7620, making it awesome value at 1.3k.

  • Overpriced?

In my experience Dell have excellent service and very high quality laptops.
They just scored my hard earned!

    • LOL @ "very high quality laptops"

My last Dell laptop — which I spent nearly $3k on — was made out plastic of worse quality than that found in a typical ice cream carton. The case quite literally fell apart two weeks after the one year warranty expired. Never again. Never.

I got scorned during that whole dell fiasco thing. I was close to buying another dell computer for my aunt, but then the terms of the 'deal' were changed around, before the expiry date, so that kind of blew it away again. dell them bastards.

    10%

I remember the days of 30-40% off specials from Dell. To give this a positive vote is degrading the very being of OzBARGAIN (no offense teaearlgrey, this is a dig at Dell not you)

EDIT: By that I mean it's OKAY, I just don't see it as a "bargain" , in case this gets a flaming, each to their own I suppose

in my case, had a lappy already spec'd and in my cart online, so a 10 second google saved decent coin.
Ended up with a very high spec'd Studio for cheaper than retails stores are selling a lower spec Inspiron.

Cant say I have been happy with Hp, Toshiba or really any other vendors laptops. Plus the onsite warranty is sweet.

  • Dell is overpriced, build a computer yourself and you can save yourself 200-300 bucks.

    • +2

true, but if something stuffs up, they fix it for you and you don't have to pull bits apart. Depends if you are computer literate.

      • Yeah but they don't fix the computer forever, computers can last for yrs and they only have a warranty of 1-2 yrs.

    $$%^%^ DELL!

  • Don't you get 10% off for being an automobile club member? eg RACV

  • Dell = All orders "received", none necessarily accepted :+(
