Petrol price cycle website

Hi All,
I used to use motormouth to decide when to buy petrol. It no longer works with my mac, something to do with Java and 64 bit browsers.

I found the ACCC actually list an excellent graph of petrol prices. Their source is 'informed sources', which I believe is the same website the fuel companies use to 'be informed of their competitors prices' and 'compete' against each other.

Save the link to your cities graph as a bookmark on your smartphone, it's excellent. How did I not find this website until now?

If you only found this website now, dare I say you haven't been reading all the posts in oz bargain. The best way I find out about petrol prices is actually the Woolies app, it gives up to the Minute live prices in my area, no other, and I repeat no other source is as up to date than Woolies app. It's actually really surprising.

Terminal Gate Price will indicate how much prices are expected to fall before plateauing in the current cycle. I find in Melbourne that the cheaper stations typically go 3-5 cents below the TGP before rising again. The latest Motormouth update has some stations at 143.9, so with today's TGP being 146.1, they may drop by a cent or two. However, TGP is (ever so slowly) declining again, so it may mean a longer cycle than there would otherwise be, leaving more room for prices to drop.

When all else fails, flip a coin ;)

  • Thanks fellas, these information definately help.
