Telstra overcharges me twice and lies

Hey all,

I put in a request for a contract (24-month 50GB cable plan) and I received a confirmation package in the mail with all the necessary plan information and so forth.

Telstra now charges me the non-contract value: whereby I'm charged $20 more as I'm not on a contract and cannot get the Bigpond benefit discount. This has happened for two months.

I've chatted online and they confirmed my contract until today (I received my new bill) where they have said NO CONTRACT: call up sales (again).

I did not know that all this time they've been giving me the run around as bills were only just made available.

What should I do?

  • Call the specific customer complaints section and articulate what you are after. This may not be an intentional overcharge but more of an error when applying the discount. Regardless, express that you haven't been able to resolve this with the billing team.

    Escalate to a TIO compliant if unsucessful on a 3rd attempt.

  • Once you put a complaint in with Telstra, their interal complaint team can fix all that very easily for you

  • +1

    You've already complained to Telstra and the incompetent buffoonns are incapable of resolving the issue. Complain to the Ombudsman (TIO).

  • Try this;

    Call 132200 [free call from telstra home phone]

    When Plastic Brains asks you what you want, say "Complaint"

    This should get you into the complaint section.
