If its not a scam, it could be stolen goods… that's way too good to be true…

That seller just joined today with 0 feedback, but with professional-looking listing with images, specifications etc as though he/she has done it numerous times before?

100% scam. I am not sure how these people get away with it. Surely if you pay by Paypal you are covered, but why risk it.

Someone is not going to sell a $600 item for almost half price brand new so it is wise to steer clear.

    • Well obviously these guys robbed the store so they can sell it for $300. duhh

They give you the old bait n switch, they don't expect every paypal purchase to work. You check out on paypal, which is linked to an incorrect email address. They contact you that they 'accidentally' used the wrong email adress and can`t claim the funds, so they send you a fund request out side of Ebay (not invoice). You see that fund request notice in your inbox, you follow the paypal links and you pay, thinking you've solved the problem.

You've just been fooled into making a payment not attached to conditions (invoice), Paypal won`t cover you since you've made a payment for no product.

      • This is usually how it goes down.

Also if it is stolen, even though we generally protect an innocent 3rd party buyer here, its debatable how innocent they will assume you are, considering how cheap you are buying it for, its likely you knew something was up.

      • IIRC, PayPal will not pay you back if there are no funds in the seller's account to debit and no linked accounts.

At least this used to be the case. So often, these scammers will receive funds, withdraw them and sever details with PayPal.

In those cases, your only recourse would be to get a charge back on your credit card provided you used one, although this would usually lead PayPal black listing you.

  • Sounds too good to be true.

  • I purchased one and the Paypal payment didn't go straight through, then about 5 minutes later, the listing was removed.

If you have to ask, then 99.99% of the time it will be a scam

This is 100% a scam. Do not buy. Mate bought a ps3 under similar deal a while ago and turned out they were stolen from Harvey Norman by an employee who was drop shipping them from the store. In the end he had to give back the ps3 after having it for two months and was out the dough and a system. Police involved etc…

If it is too good to be true it is.
