Y320 - Mediatek MT6572 dual core CPU with Mali 400 (single core) GPU, and 2MP camera. Y300 might be a better buy (Qualcomm dual core, 5MP camera with LED + VGA front cam) - $79 locked to Telstra, but can be easily unlocked ($10 or less).

    • Where do you get these unlocked? Via Telstra? The y300 I mean

Ozbargain user Bagman sells unlock codes for $5.49.

        • yea Bagman's the man to do it

        • How do we get them unlocked? Do we just send him a message?

PM him with IMEI number, send money to paypal, get code. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/56629/nodes

Get in touch via email or ozbargain message. Also I found all the ebay unlockers to work 100% and efficient. On memory, two were based in U.K. if that helps. One was for Optus prepaid HTC Incredible S and LG L7, other was a Huawei Y201

512MB of RAM wont cut it, moving forward.
    You want 1GB minimum.

    • 512mb is fine for normal users. More is of course going to be better, but you're not very likely to get that in this price bracket.

We still have a G300 and it stutters noticeably on some content rich sites. As time goes forward, the expectation will be that phones have at least 1GB of RAM and sites will be coded appropriately. So you might struggle on with 512MB or RAM now, but as time moves on, it will be hopeless. So I would encourage anyone buying a new phone to go with 1GB RAM.

  • Good luck at this price range though

  • What's best these days for around $150 (including unlocking)?
[Daughter just smashed her Nexus 4….don't think it's worth repairing, just likely to happen again..]
