  • Can these be used to buy Nexus devices from the Play Store?

    • +2

Most likely not because this is the google play store, so I'm thinking it's leaning more towards apps and such

      • +2

Yep, thanks for the reply. Should've Google'd it before asking, but I found the answer online: No.

"2. Limitations. The Gift Card may be used for purchases of eligible items on Google Play only. Limits may apply to redemption and use. Items ineligible for purchase using gift card include subscriptions, as well as items in the device section of Google Play including hardware such as phones, tablets and related device accessories"

Not even close to Idroids $30 credit for $20, but it has been a while since that one popped up.

    • not to mention the limited stock =(

  • About to jump ships from an iP4 to either a Z2 or S5. Now itunes has 20-30% off pretty regularly, with some up to 50% off, how often do the android ones go on sale?

Pls no Apple vs Android hate replies, just want to see when I should be stocking up "gift" cards haha.

Not as often as iTunes offers. However, Telstra credits can be used to purchase Google play items, so if you are able take advantage of the $15 for $30 Starter SIM packs, you are essentially getting a 50% discount worth of Telstra funny money. Or more, if you manage to score a $30 recharge for $10.

The downside is that there is a max transaction cap of $25 (?), therefore you won't be able to purchase the more expensive apps using Telstra money.

Also note the pricing of Apple apps have gone up 30% last week but Google App market prices have remained the same. Android apps are currently cheaper.

How does that work? Do you activate the Telstra sim on your android phone and somehow make it bill to your account rather than use a credit card? Also wouldn't the $30 recharge credit have a time limit set on it?

No need for expensive apps, I'll most likely be just buying tripview + essentials

The Telstra SIM card, once activated can be used to purchase apps from the store and it shows up as a payment method within Google Play.

You can pass this SIM around and buy apps for different accounts too. For e.g I have a $30 SIM, I use up $10 bucks, I can give the SIM to someone else and they can deduct from the SIM as well.

And yes, you have a month to use up the credit, and if you cannot finish it you can simply sell your credits away on eBay via CreditMe2U.. Better than letting the credit go to waste, you can at least get some cash back!

Also, if your credit is expiring soon (less than 10 days), all you have to do is to get someone to transfer some credits to you via Credit Me2U and that will actually buy you some more time to use the credit (14 days).

        • Nice explanation!

Is there a minimum threshold for Credit Me2U?
Can't you have.. 2 accounts that you just transfer the credit around via CM2U then?

        • The min threshold is $1, max is $10. Credit transfer costs 25 cents to the transferrer.

I'm not sure if you can continually shuffle money between 2 SIMS to keep the credit from expiring, never tried this but here is the Terms and Conditions. http://www.telstra.com.au/customer-terms/download/document/m…

You actually have up to 6mths if you choose the long life prepaid option!

        Steps:

        1. Buy telstra $30 pre-paid starter pack credit on sale. Must buy the $30 in order to use for google play, no less. Costs $10-15 on sale (search telstra pre-paid in ozbargain)

        2. Activate sim online. Choose long life option for credit to be available for 6 months (best option if you only want it for google credit),

        3. Wait for activation email.

        4. Insert sim

        5. Start phone, choose any app and click the price button. Goes to payment, choose options, then 'bill my telstra account'. First time you do it it will ask to confirm your name, number and postcode.

        6. App will DL, confirm payment via telstra bill.

        7. Repeat for other apps. Take sim out when not in use. Put back in when making purchases

Conditions: Max total of $20 worth of apps a day or something. You can always dl the next day if you reach your limit.

Warning: If you have anti-theft apps installed like cerebus or avast anti theft, uninstall or freeze with TB as they will auto send texts which might deplete your credit.
I lost around $3 because of this

        • also make sure to turn off mobile data, if you use the internet while the sim is in and you are on long life, it uses something like $3/mb

        • Hi,
Does somebody know if this is also possible with these:
          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/181371551453
          cards?

          Thanks

  • It's been a while since the last $30 Telstra pre paid sims for $10 deal… :( reckon they'll have them anymore?

    • There was one about 4 or 5 weeks ago I think. They still do happen, but nowhere near as often as the $15 deals

    • i bought a couple at harvey norman at the start of this yr, they had heaps of stock

  • Does Play music work for these cards?

  • +1

You should really try ebay for these.
There are ones that have best offer - I got 3 $30 ones for $20 each.
More than 10% off. I think I have one spare $30 redemption code sitting in my inbox somewhere.
If I can find it, I'll post it here.

  • Do these come in $10 cards?
