Custom engagement ring from overseas?

I've got a diamond already, but my girlfriend has already picked the type of ring she wants. I've attached a link to it below.
Basically, can I get one like it made overseas and sent here and then just get a local jeweller to put the centre diamond in it?

If so, where can I get it from? Obviously I want the quality to be good.

  • Whiteflash and Blue Nile have good reputations - huge threads about this subject on WP as well.

  • I know less than Jon Snow about jewellery but I've been married for a while now and let me caution you that this is a very risky proposal. Any small imperfection, any delay in processing or mixup in the mail, anything other than an absolute perfect outcome that exceeds everyone's expectations will be re-lived as evidence of your 'tight-arsedness' for the next 50 years of your life, indeed even a perfect outcome might not be enough.

Whatever extra it costs to have the thing made locally needs to be weighed up against the value of your dignity and sanity over the next 50 years of your life. When you do the maths you might find that having the ring made locally and maintaining your sanity is only going to cost $10 a year or so over the journey of marriage…a bargain indeed!

  • Op: i am thinking of doing this too. can you please give an update on outcome and costs if you did do this?

  • Try Jogia Diamonds
I used them to get my wife's engagement ring and their prices and quality were very good.
They are based in Perth. In my case it worked out cheaper for me to use them than any of the OS suppliers by about $400.
    I'm in QLD.
We also ended up getting our wedding bands made through them too.
Another option is find a nice little jewellery store. Not a chain store like Michael hill.
