Same printer as previous deal from Officeworks (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/128918)

Picked up one today and seems to be a good little unit. BigW has only the black one listed here, although confusingly has the Blue one (though doesn't specify model number) here https://www.bigw.com.au/electronics/computers-office/labelle…

For the savy: OfficeWorks pricematched this for me to $20.90 from their usual price of $35… just have to get one of the clerks that doesn't care much about the colour difference! (http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/dymo-letratag…)

Now people, go forth and label things!

:P

Got a deal on the label rolls ?
These things are a bit like printers and ink .

    • Indeed they are. :( On a positive note, I was travelling overseas once, and snagged a whole handful of the labels for less than AUD$6 each.

Usage wise, they are really really practical and useful though.

      • I remember using these as a kid but it was one of the old models. are the labels still that hard plastic with indented letters?

what type of item would these labels be good for?

      • Where did you get those mate? Have friends in a few countries so might get them to do a postage drop if it's worth it.

        • Sorry I missed this. I believe I was in Manila, in the Philippines, at the time. And it wasn't all that long ago, so I doubt if prices have moved much.

    • They have some listed there at $8 each (supposedly $6 off or something) but honestly it looked like OW was better as they had "value packs" of two rolls for $15 or so…

If you're okay with the paper roll, BigW has packs of 2 for $8.
      https://www.bigw.com.au/electronics/computers-office/labelle…

  • Online offer only?
Minimum click & collect order $40?

    • Hmm, I personally got it at a pricematch from OW, I was under the impression Click and Collect didn't have a minimum (as I did it with a $2 xbox stand once) but maybe I'm wrong?

      • Click & collect killed it for me :-(

I have had one of these for years.

It works fine… but one thing that drives me nuts is that the keyboard is in alphabetical order, not QWERTY. It's surprisingly difficult to hunt-and-peck on an alphabetical keyboard if you're a reasonable typist.

There's another similar machine that has a QWERTY keyboard. I wish I had bought it instead.

    • haha, dammit I didn't even realise this but you're correct - that's one crazy product design flaw!

    • reasonable typist or not you cannot type normally on one of these even if you were.

i have one and use it often, no way you could even type fast on these even with 1 hand as you have to press heavily on these as the buttons are very cushy.

    • This one is $1 cheaper and has a qwerty keyboard: http://tinyurl.com/mmlzbem
