    Murdoch desperation, much? :)

      It's good to see actually. Maybe they're finally aware that people have better things to spend their money on than this terrible service.

    • Not really, their revenue is only increasing.

    • If this was a foxtel promo then maybe it would be murdoch inspired. Dont forbet telstra own a chunk of foxtel tho too.
      This looks like a telstra promo as they want u to sign up thru telstra not thru the foxtel admin.
      Id say telstra is paying out the $200 voucher themselves.
      Probably hoping it attracts some customers to uts pricey net and phone plans too.

    The numbers don't seem to add up…

    eg.

    $0/mth subscription fee for the first 3 mths
    $49/mth (after the first 3 mths)

    Plus $75 HD Box and $75 std install. Minimum cost $1071 when you have an eligible Telstra service.

    But it clearly states "who buy online a 12 month plan."
    So you buy a 12 month plan but you have to pay for 24 months ???

      You forgot the fine fine print, my young padawan?

      Min cost over 12 months with Telstra Home Phone Local(an extra $40/mth),
      $75 HD Box and $75 std install with: Essentials is $1,071 ($40/mth for 3 months then $89/mth for 9 mths);

      Telstra Home Phone Local = $480
      Essentials = $801
      HD Box = $75
      Std Install = $75

      STD = Sexually Transmitted Disease? :S

      • Your correct, and by minimum they having a home phone is the cheapest, i.e. broadband and mobile will be more than $40

      • Min cost over 12 months with Telstra Home Phone Local(an extra $40/mth),

        So someone who already has a Telstra phone but no Foxtel can't take up this offer without changing their phone plan ???

        • I doubt that you wouldnt be able to, this promotion is aimed at new Foxtel Subscribers, all their saying is that you need to bundle.

          Wether you already have another service or not shouldnt matter

          their quote "when you have an eligible Telstra service"

        • My Telstra landline is $22.95 per month, not $40…

        • It's called an upgrade…?

          It's called an upgrade…?

          I use VOIP… $5 per month and get nearly all my calls for free after that… (incl. International)

        • That's not an upgrade?
          That's a downgrade… $22.?? -> $5…

          An upgrade is $22.?? -> $40…
          Next upgrade available is to offer your first born to Telstra :D

        • I'm with jv. I have the base Telstra homeline plan and only have it for ADSL. All my calls are done with my mobile. Would have been a good deal for me if I didn't have to up my phone plan.

    Must be some heavy pushing for sure. I was browsing digital cameras in JB and the camera guy tried to sell me Foxtel during the camera talk…

  • I wouldn't get Foxtel again even if they paid me,wait…a…minute…?

  • +12

    I would pay for a couple of the HD sports channels. But no Rupert won't take my money and insists I bundle 1000 other useless channels that I don't require. No thanks Mr Murdoch.

    • +1

      Yep I'd do the same if possible.

  • anything related to Murdoch fwit, NO Thanks to me, even they pay me to use it, I just dont want my brain (profanity) by them!!!

  • I would… but then Netflix came along that is far superior.

    • +3

      And then XBMC came along which is much cheaper. ;)

      • I don't know about xbmc. Time to educate myself.

  • +2

    I wish I could just buy the sports package and avoid all the other crap channels. I don't want to have to pay for Core channels.

  • Just giving up Foxtel as can no longer afford it. I have a LCD TV, but it isn't a smart TV, and I am wondering if there are any other options to access other than the usual Aussie free to air stations? Did not want to watch on my computer. Thanks!

  • Buy a cheap second hand media player or connect computer to tv. Download any shows you want to watch and bingo. No need for Fuxtel.

  • I watch all my sports here for free. Quality isnt HD but it free.
    Currently watching the NBA playoffs.
