Buy some good books at the Kobo India site for a couple of rupees. At the conversion rate of 1 Indian Rupee to A$0.018, you’ll end up paying just a few cents for each book. If you are really tight with your money, as these books are eligible for the promo codes, try the discount codes listed on mobileread and get another 20-50% off. For example, use code "40daze" to get 40% off.

To change country to India and to see price in Rupees, sign in to your account, go to payment information, and change country at the left drop box. No need to change the rest of your address. To change the country back to the original after you have completed your purchases, just clear the payment information and enter your credit card details again. Don’t be surprised if your bank calls you to check that the purchase is valid.

    Amazing.

Buy a gift card before swapping your account away from AUD in order to avoid hitting your credit card over and over in a strange currency.

Some other ones less than 2 rupees

Good Find, thanks for sharing OP

  • Getting an "oops, something went wrong message" when trying to pay. Have been buying a few books the past few hours and while it's come up before I've been able to just try again and it works. Not so this time. Maybe my bank protection has kicked in, or maybe Kobo is catching on to us? We'll find out soon :)

EDIT: Looks to be working again. :)

When your bank's security mechanisms kick in and suspect there is something wrong, maybe you should reconsider giving your credit card details to an indian site

The company is Kobo which operates worldwide, the problem is that because we're using the Indian Kobo portal it's charging us in rupees, which I suppose must be a high-risk currency for the banks.

      • How much of a risk is 3 cents to them?

  • Thanks, got Creativity Inc!

  • Thanks for this!

Something I came across on my spree: http://tinypic.com/r/2j65ylk/8

  • Wow, bought 25 books so far from this offer! But only cost me about $0.70 all up, so it's ok :)

Sand by Hugh Howey, Cop town by Karin Slaughter, The Weight of Blood by Laura McHugh, Gondola Donna Leon, Exposure by Kathy Reich, Grant County Collection 3 books by Karin Slaughter, Great British Bake Off: Learn to Bake some are pre orders.

    • I tried to do the pre-orders but I couldn't. As soon as I entered the billing info (and had to put Aust obviously) I was denied access to the Indian bookshop. And it won't let you use the gift cards or paypal for pre-orders, only Visa or Mastercard. Any ideas on how I can get the pre-orders in the Indian store?

      • I have been able to put in pre-orders. It wasn't working for a little while, but started working later on. Maybe try again later?

      • Don't put Aust. Put you4r normal address but with India as the country.

  • Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi (Rs. 1.68)
    Star Wars: Kenobi (Rs. 1.68)

  • try the discount codes listed on mobileread and get another 20-50% off

Anyone knows if there is a 50% off discount code?

    • 40daze is 40% and multiuse
      the following are 50% and I think single use fbr50, mch50, arl50

      • 40daze worked. Tried the three 50% ones and they did not work.

  • Thank you soooooooo much!!! I found a title that I have wanted for so long!

  • Looks like this has ended?

    • Most have reverted to normal price just the some of the preorders left at the ridiculously cheap amounts
