[QLD] KFC Nine Original Recipe Pieces for $9.95 - Tuesday's Only

4080

I know this deal has been around for a while but this is just a friendly reminder that it’s still going strong here in QLD, don’t know about other states. For too long I’ve witnessed people ordering something else in KFC on Tuesday other than 9 pieces and it’s just a travesty and mutiny. What is this sorcery, seriously? This has got to stop. Words cannot describe my pain and suffering every time this happens. This is 9 pieces of succulent colonels recipe chicken for $9.95. NINE PIECES! Not one, not twice, not thrice or 6, its NINE! To put it into perspective, it’s like half price if I do the maths. Just think about it for one second. Think about one piece of that delicious, mouth watering crispy chicken and wait a second… now think about NINE OF THOSE PIECES!!!

To let you people know how good of a bargain this is, I’m willing to share my experience about how this KFC 9 pieces deal changed my life. This is not only for my own sense of pride and satisfaction but also in the hope that other chicken lovers know, there is still faith in humanity. Also just letting you know, I am not associated with any work relating to chicken. My ozbargain name “cheapchickentuesday” is just a tangible name that I can hold onto, so I can express to others my loyalty and love of eating cheap chicken on Tuesday (Tuesday is also chicken day to me and I have to eat it). This is my story. One mans story of how chicken and I became one…

I awake on Tuesday morning, my mouth salivates at the thought of those chicken pieces (especially the skin ^_^). Just picturing those pieces of chicken give me the warm fuzzys. I’ve never felt so safe and warm as I do when I think about KFC chicken, it’s like if I was in danger then it wouldn’t matter because the colonel would protect me with his secret recipe. Those flavours mixing never separate, swirling in a clockwise direction and then swirling in all directions in and around my mouth. Sometimes I get caught just day dreaming about it while I look outside my window. Maybe this is just a symptom of loving chicken too much but can we really ask ourselves if such a thing exists? How much do we really know about ourselves, who we are, the universe, our purpose in life, if we can’t eat the things we love? Think about it…

That magical shining bucket of KFC sign being perched above the store so gracefully for all to see, is like a beacon of hope in this unforgiving world. It is the light of my life, my first unborn baby and my childhood dreams and aspirations all rolled into pieces of chicken that are deep fried and smothered with herbs and spices. Words tremble from my mouth when uttering the words “9 pieces” to the KFC cashier. I get all sweaty and hyperventilate a little bit before this but my gut feeling lets those magical words fly out of my mouth.

This is the reason I wake up on Tuesday. The moment my fingers caress that greasy KFC box full of chicken, it just makes me explode into tears of joy and happiness everytime. The anticipation of not knowing what type of pieces lie inside the mystery box, is just too much for me to bare. Will there be two wings? Three rib pieces? No wait maybe just one wing and many breast rib pieces? Who knows? What combination of pieces is it going to be?

Once inside, what is the best way to tackle this monstrosity of a greasy situation? Well for me, I Start with the drummy and I nibble my way through that. When that’s gone, I move on to a couple of breast/ rib parts and then a chicken wingy. Congratulations, you’re about half way there as I only consider that as really half a piece (I mean look at the surface area). Now I have a breather for a little bit, to give my insides some time to absorb all those nutritional benefits that fried chicken provide. The rest will pretty much guide itself down into your stomach.

That’s it! So be brave and also be aware of your surroundings at all times. If you’ve bought the 9 pieces just for yourself then you’ve already completed the hardest part :) You might be battered, bruised and rocking back and forth in the corner of your room but you’ll be glad you did. Remember, to not be afraid in the mountain of chicken in this box, It is the only obstacle in your way that stands between you and freedom. Thank you for reading and I hope I’ve been an inspiration to you all :)

    • Oh, it is not. ;-p

Didn't your mother teach you not to write with your mouth full, now look what you've splattered all over the screen. LOL.

  • Damn, after reading this the awafi $9.95 chicken in currently eating does not even compare. Garlic sauce and all.

  • Deal was a bit long for me to read but I'm giving you +1 for effort none the less! Power to you!

  • +2

not sure why this is a deal, it's common knowledge that this is available in some QLD stores (Not all). Looks like the only reason why this is has so many +ve votes is the long description. Maybe everyone should just write long descriptions to get votes?

    • +1

I think the upvotes were for creativity, enthusiasm and a crispy coating of passion.
If all submissions were like this, maybe we would start upvoting for brevity…

  • I know it's not Tuesday but after reading that I'm headed to KFC now….mmmmmm chicken

  • Not available in WA as welll

    • +5

      Wait Awhile…

    • +1

      WA always misses out.

      • We had this promo the same time the other states (except QLD) had it too, plus we have year-round hot and spicy, so I think we're well off (for KFC anyway).

  • I can't wait for Tuesday!

  • Read parts of this (TLDR, skimmed it) with a Woo from survivor accent in my mind. Greatly improved the read….

  • +1

    spicy one will be better.

  • As of a few weeks ago, I asked for the "Tuesday 9 piece deal" in SA & was told they no longer offered it??

  • Haha

  • -4

This is not a deal as it is common knowledge to most QLD has had 9 for 9.95 extended, WA had it extended for a bit. However because this sob story managed to garner so many positive votes the mods will let it stay.

  • +5

Why this deal is only available in QLD and not other states? Is someone trying to kill off a proportion of QLD population?

    • +6

KFC sponsor NSW rugby league. This is a long-term plan.

  • +1

they also have 50cent wicked wings to in some nsw stores ^ ^

    • +1

o rly? so 10 wings for $5? that sounds pretty damn attractive right now

      • yeah? that sounds like a real cheap (and unhealthy) feed

        btw. OP is a wordsmith

    • That sounds great!!

    • That's cheap!

  • +1

Enjoy the flavour, can't stand the bloated sickly feeling after eating the stuff but. It is a very good deal, though.

  • -8

I use to get this weekly but I just got sick of kfc. Makes me cringe when I think of it.

Now I go to a local charcoal chicken shop (south east brisbane) and get a whole charcoal chicken, large chips(A HUGE amount), gravy, garlic dips and a large salad (Choice of Greek, Garden, Potato, Coleslaw) for $26. Really makes for a great meal and I help out a local business. :)

The salads are delicious and plentiful. Generally it's a solid meal for 3 adults. The chicken is similar to a woolies chicken but tastier. About the same size I would say.

    • +15

Because everyone lives close to your chicken shop and has the same taste in food.

      • +2

Or wants to spend $26 for a meal.

        • He eats the whole chicken to himself? Wow.

        • I generally turn it into 3 meals. Make for a great lunch the next day. I try to eat as much of the chips as I can in the first as they don't reheat well.

Are you people eating 9 pieces of kfc chicken for one meal? My god.

        • Are you people eating 9 pieces of kfc chicken for one meal? My god.

If 3 pieces each then that's turned into a meal for "3", as like your food ration division…

    • Not sure how your eating of nine pieces of KFC a week, somehow makes this a bad deal.

    • +2

Upvoted because Charcoal Chicken is pretty baller

    • Where is this charcoal chicken?

      • acacia ridge. It's on Beaudesert road where the woolies is.

There is another good place in Stones Corner as well. Robyn's or something like that. Really good lebanese charcoal chicken, they have a spicy one which is tops.

    • +5

My doctor told me to stop having intimate dinners for 3, unless there are 2 other people. Perhaps you should take heed that advice pisoj1.

      • I don't know why people infer that I eat all of it. I generally make it into 3 or so meals. Also who is to say I eat alone.

    • +1

I don't know where you learnt maths but the general understanding is $10 ($9.95 rounded up) is 2.6x cheaper than $26.

If you can't understand how that relates into $16 savings for a meal with a arguably larger portion of chicken, maybe ozb spirit is not in you.

      • +1

You get more chicken overall from this place imo and you get salads, chips and dips. I think it makes it far better. It's also not covered in oil.

I guess people at ozbargain don't appreciate a salad? Enjoy your clogged arteries :)

        • People enjoy the $16 extra in the pocket. Get 2 sides for extra $5, $11 savings, go to woolies/coles get a BIG packet of salad, $3. $8 savings.

          Still cheaper.

And you must be kidding yourself if you think charcoal chicken is any healthier. Think carcinogens.

        • The two sides for $5 is not even close to the amount of chips I get. I would say the chips from this place is about 3-4 large chips from kfc (They are tastier too).

The salads are fantastic, woolies packet salads are nice too, but this is a little different, I really love it. The potato salad and greek salad is what I normally get and it's fantastic.

They also give gravy and this incredibly amazing garlic dip, it's the strongest garlic flavour ever!

And if you think deep friend chicken is healthier, good luck to you and your health.

        • I'm a big KFC fan, and I get this. You've got to support the local every now and then to keep the chicken-karma levels in check for all the other times you hit up the fried dominator.

I just feel sad seeing all the ALDI frozen chooks for roughly 6 dollars.

        • They say you are what you eat. The chickens eat the salad for you. You eat the chicken and you've just had a balanaced meal.

    • -2

      Cool story bro

  • +2

I couldn't finish all 9 pieces myself, after 6 or 7, i feel sick of it, and never wanna go KFC again.

    • If I get this deal, I add the two large sides for $5 as well and get two meals out of it between two people. Can't imagine eating all that fatty chicken in one sitting by myself, it wouldn't surprise me if anyone gets sick from it.

      • +12

and never wanna go KFC again.

        Until next Tuesday

  • -8

Couldn't pay me enough to eat the dirty bird.

    • why? afraid you might catch something - aids?

      • -1

        Can't get it twice!

        • If your lucky the hormones in the chicken could cure you. Or make it worse. What have you got to lose?

  • -2

I hate "fresh" chicken from KFC.. It's always better re-heated the next night.

  • Which store in QLD does everyone get their chicken from? Most I've tried were either too dry on the inside or doesn't get enough batter on them.

    • +1

They've all been shit as far as I'm concerned. Qld KFC stores need more 'chefs' that care. :(

  • NINE PIECE. STRAIGHT 8 BALLS.

  • +1

You think eating all those 9 KFC chicken pieces is good for you?
    I recommend the following documentary:

      • Its good for the soul

THANKS FOR POSTING THIS, I THOUGHT KFC WAS AT THE TOP OF THE FOOD PYRAMID BEFORE THIS

      • You thought correctly.

  • After having multiple double burgers (chicken instead of bread, just all round goodness) in 2011, i made a pact to not visit KFC until the year 2021 to give my arteries a rest.

I hope this deal is still around then!

  • I'm holding out for KFC's 'Game of Thrones' promo: the "Every F***ing Chicken in this Room" deal:

To all you knockers, lay off OP. It is a witty constructive post. It's obvious he/she has a passion for writing. Keep going, I enjoyed every word. Looking forward to many more. Those that dont like it.. there's always the back button.

Unfortunately I can only give one +1 if I could I would give you +10

It's not all about "cheepskate at any cost".

    • +3

This is ozbargain not some writing contest. If you don't like bargains leave. This is not a deal its always been on.

      • +1

Sorry but it hasnt always been on in all stores. At my local store Sunshine Vic they did not honour it for the last 3 months since after christmas. They told me that the company stores always honour it, but the franchises can choose not to honour it from time to time.

Just like not every Dominos Pizza honour the $4.95 Tuesday deal. It's their prerogative.

I'll ask tuesay if it is available again at KFC.

        • +1

The deal refers to KFC qld, I repeat myself it has always been on. This deal is not about Vic, that is irrelevant.

        • Yeah but other states want to know if its avail there. Thanks for letting me know, will c if i can find out which stores r company stores then. Thanks smartconsumer

    • +4

      from the voting guidelines

Please refrain from voting deals that are not good deals but have a funny picture, good description or any other element that is not related to the deal itself.

      • +1

It is a valid deal if it was withdrawn and has come back

        • +1

          Except it was never withdrawn.

        • +1

OP even admits that it's been around for a while

I know this deal has been around for a while but this is just a friendly reminder

    • +2

Thank you for your support smartconsumer :) I'm sure many other people enjoyed it as much as you.
I know everyone does not feel the same way about chicken as I do but I know some lives have been changed for the better..

      • +4

FTFY : some lives have been changed for the fatter

  • +5

Could I ask a serious question:

Does anyone here recall about 15 yrs ago KFC had a healthier option on. Seasoned fillets that were cooked in some kind of pressure cooker. Delicious and not too bad for you.

    Dissapeared without a trace.

I suspect the medical fraternity asked them to stop selling healthier options as they were losing business.

Now with maccas and everyone getting on the healthy bandwagon, it's time to petition KFC to bring back the healthy alternative.

    Just a thought.

    • -4

They stopped selling them because no one bought them. You'd have to be a special kind of stupid to expect to get healthy from from KFC.

      • +24

I'm new here, but personally I don't like how some members talk down to others. I'm pretty conscious about what I eat and provide for my family. We eat junk food from time to time but not every day. I'm sure that you have higher standards than some people on this forum, but please keep them to your self.

Please do not post replies like this to my comments. Please do not call me stupid. If you don't like my comments please bypass them Thank you.

        • You will get used to the unique way some people on this site deal with people's comments.

    • +1

Sounds like a good idea to me

  • +3

We used to get it between 3 of us at work. Then get a chips and coke as our $5 sides. Bargain lunch for $5 each. I call it the front 9. Try and nail it with two ppl and it gets messy. Also sometimes at night we get it and just get the chicken and have it with our own sides sweet potato mash and peas for a family of 4. I call that the back 9.

I have only done all 18 holes once…

  • +1

Also I think different stores chicken taste different esp with hot n spicy because I think they must soak it in salty brine before the coating is applied. Some stores underdo it some overdo it. I prefer over.

  • this is the best post

  • +4

Thigh pieces are the BEST, who doesn't agree?

    • As in everything in life - breasts are best.

      • but it's dry

  • eat in modertation to everything….. u only get bloated if u eat to much~ just like u eat to much of anything , sheesh. ppl bitch and complain so much

  • +1

The nine pack lasts me at least three dinners. Each a delicious yummy meal. :-)

Too bad it is no longer on in VIC and SA. Interesting to note that it is still active in QLD as I will be flying up there in a few weeks. Might give it another go.

    • +1

Has anyone actually checked if its avail in vic, or are we all guessing that its not

    • +1

Make sure you bring some back to VIC and share <3

  • -1

    tl;dr

  • Does anyone know if Sydney still has this offer? More specifically Fairfield. Cheers

  • Ive never been able to eat kfc chicken after this

  • +1

A career in the literary world beckons for the OP…..hard to earn a crust for many there but it will hardly matter to the OP who is an ozbargainer. Enjoyable read, well done!

  • went looking the other week for cheap tuesday chicken at KFC and they didnt advertise it so i moved on.

i hope its still available in NSW, will look again this week.

  • The anticipation of not knowing what type of pieces lie inside the mystery box = 2 ribs, 2 thighs, 2 legs, 2 wings & 1 breast piece….. Well it was when I worked there & am pretty sure still is. That is a whole chicken cut up.

  • +1

The reason its only in Qld and not the other states is KFC QLD is owned by Collins Foods. The same company also owns Sizzler. In other states KFC are run by PepsiCo with franchises. Therefore different specials and menus available ie hot n spicy.

  • +1

+1 for the description. Good effort. Makes me want chicken!

  • +1

A lot of questions about quality of meat itself (not necessarily the coating or frying):

Someone who worked there once fairly high up told me KFC get meat from more than one supplier, ingham, steggles, hazeldene, etc. as a failsafe backup. Due to volume they go through they dont want to be left with no chicken in case something goes wrong with one supplier.

Now the consesus in the industry seems to be that ingham chicken is the best quality. So the piece you get and how it tastes depends on which supplier they got it from.

Really it's up to the gods.
