Any chance you know if the N64 controllers work on Android with a USB OTG cable?

    • you beat me to it TimmyShooterB, was going to ask exactly the same question!

    • +1

If they are Retrolink branded, yes they do. I have used them on both version of the Nexus 7 tablet :)

      • I sell retrolink brand but the ones on special aren't RetroLink.

I would think they work since they are probably the exact same thing but I can't say for certain.

        • I noticed that the Retrolink branded N64 controllers are also $24 if you ship them without the packaging. This is probably the best option…

edit: Hold on, are they the same?

        • Sorry but I actually got rid of that product. That was priced before I enabled free shipping and I no longer do the no packaging as I worked out how to squeeze it in a satchel. The RetroLink blister packaging is huge on the n64 controller.

Where did you see the product?

The RetroLink product and the n64 usb on special are not the same.

        • You need to change the description on the Grey Retrolink N64 Controller (product_id=69) I see you've already changed it on the black one. That's what was creating the confusion.

+1 for being responsive and helpful

        • Sorry about that and thanks for letting me know :D

    • Sorry but I can't say for sure.

Someone vouched for the RetroLink brand n64 controllers which I also sell but the ones on special are not the RetroLink controllers.

I think they would work but I really can't guarantee that they would.

Just out of curiosity though how do you play games meant for the 64 on a phone/tablet? Wouldn't it be incredibly awkward?

      • Android has a number of N64 emulators available which accept input from external controllers.

        Example: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.supern64.n…

The on-screen controls suck so a lot of people use PS3 controllers. But I want the full N64 experience on the go.

I mean even with using a controller even the official one wouldn't it be hard to use due to the screen size?

I guess I have this mental picture of someone balancing the tablet in one hand while trying to use a 64 controller in the other :P

      • I've never tried a controller with the 64 games but games like diddy kong racing are great on my s4

  • Not the cheapest I've seen these but great range and local so +1 from me :)

I notice the Gamecube section on your site is empty though. I have a Retrolink cube controller on the way from Amazon atm :D

    • Treasure that controller as there doesn't seem to be anywhere to buy them anymore so once stock goes that might be it. They may do more runs later though you never know but I haven't been able to replenish my stock for quite some time.

I love my Retrolink Cube controller it is awesome. Awesome build of my fav controller of all time so you won't be disappointed. :D The controller itself would be listed under PC since that is what it connects to, I think I only have 4 left and that's it.

I do have some original GameCube controllers floating around but I haven't been bothered listing them yet.

      • oooo please list :)

        • I will see if I have some free time and I will list them tonight. They aren't official game cube controllers though but a 3rd party.

If you are after the RetroLink GameCube controller they can be found here
          http://www.retrozone.com.au/index.php?route=product/product&…

        • Sorry no rush to list them, i was after the official ones. The retrolink looks good but probably cheaper for me to buy an adapter

  • Anyone tried to get the SNES USB controllers working on a Linux based OS (ie. Ubuntu) running MAME/ZSNES etc?

    • +1

      Yep it works :D

Got this working on a Raspberry pi so it should be fine, although i can't remember how I got it working.

      • Great thanks, if it's possible, I'll figure it out :)

  • Rep whats the experience of this SNES controller compared to the original ?

    • Not as good quality as the originals but it's 11 dollars a controller and not 50.

I thought they were identical at first but when I had them side by side you could notice the differences. A friend of mine who is very picky with these things noticed as well. I guess I am not as observant. If you are after the same feel your best bet is to get an adapter and use the original controller. Then get a Retrolink controller which is double the price and then these.

It's like the original only in appearance (and even then they don't look quite right). The buttons are fairly bad and the plastic feels fairly cheap. It's $11 and feels like its price.

      • Thanks for that :) Will more than likely cave and buy the Retrolink NES controller.
I am a sucker for retro products.

Did you buy the controller from me? If so I am sorry you feel that way. If you got a dodgy one I will happily replace it just let me know the order number and I will send you a replacement.

If not, I know the controllers you are talking about and a fair amount of suppliers are terrible and have no Quality Control while others are good, it took me ages to find a decent factory that wasn't sending out 50% defects (or what I consider defects). My current supplier is fairly good and I also give the buttons a quick press before I send them out (Over the plastic) to make sure there aren't defects but that's not to say a dodgy controller won't make it through since I still junk about 10% of controllers.

I honestly think the main difference between these controllers and the Retrolink ones are the amount of Quality Control.

The controllers I have sold all have pretty good feedback which you can see on my ebay page.

Granted they aren't official Nintendo quality but they aren't terrible.

  • Any Sega Mega Drive 6 button controllers available or possible Rep?

  • Hi Rep,
Stocking any low price (<$25) fighting sticks?

    • Sorry no sub 25 dollar fighting sticks. It would cost me around 12-15 dollars to actually ship one of them out.

I think the cheapest I would be able to get in is around the 55 dollar mark and would be the Mayflash. The mayflash is about the best out there for the casual market without being utter rubbish but if you are after a serious product I think the qanba or the madcats would suit it better however they are in the 150 dollar range.
