EDIT: nvm the mobile site wasn't working

    • just type Nokia 1320 at the search bar on site, it would lead you to there ;)

    Durability?
Looks like it has the same weak point as every other touchscreen phone to me… ie a massive pane of glass.
Unless Nokia have developed an airbag system, I can't see this phone surviving a drop any better than the cheapest China-droid.

    • quality of the glass will play a part in the durability from a fall.

      • My point was that Nokia=durable is irrelevant these days when most phones stop working cause they're severely damaged, than through day to day wear and tear.
One slab of plastic with 3 buttons that rarely get used and a glass face is as "durable" as the next.

Kogan and Mobicity have it for $299. Extra $100 just for local stock is steep.

    • it depends as I would prefer to be charged $100 extra for another 12 months warranty plus hassle-free when dealing with JBHiFi when the phone unfortunately turns 'nasty'

If you don't mind the colour, this is a lot cheaper at $329.

    • This probably should be the ozbargain here!

  • Durability? I will be repairing the smashed screen of a 920 dropped from a couch onto a wooden floor. Knee height drop! They may be no worse than other phones but don't seem to be any better.

Other than that make sure you do your homework on a windows mobile before you buy. If you know the system, great, if not, it is not as enabled as ios or android.

do explain "not as enabled as ios or android"?

  • Durable… able to resist wear. My 18-month old (matt black) 920 looks brand new. Dropping it on the floor and having it smash is not a measure of durability IMO.

    • Oh, sorry, haven't used it as brake pads yet. Might do that if the screen repair goes wrong. IMO, the OP's use of the term "durability" was not its ability to resist wear but its ability to withstand normal use. On that front Nokia windows phones are not exceptional

But I don't think dropping it onto a hard surface is considered "normal use". If your car stops working after being driven at high speed into a wall does that mean it's not a durable car?

Opinions aside, the 920's polycarbonate shell has 'corners' that do protect the glass better than the iPhone's 'wrap-around' shell…in some cases. The one time I dropped mine it landed on a corner and was fine. Could have gone differently and I would have been pretty pissed too, but at myself rather than the phone.

The polycarb also shows less wear and tear than the aluminium iPhone as its a) tough and b) coloured right through rather than an anodized coating.

No long-term experience (deliberately) with Androids.
